Snow Wolves Lick Their Wounds

Lor sighed with relief as he touched the Bluebird down in the small landing area near Tal'verda village. They'd finally gotten rid of Malcom-friggin-Renolds, and now he went down to the little medbay to check on Rawnie. At least the k'on'becsoi had had the grace to offer the blood transfusion for her, rather than the Chiss concussing him and taking the blood anyway.
He went over all the scans, sighing with relief as it became clear that no seriously permanent damage had been done. Another one showed that little Galaar was happily snoring away in Rawnie's belly. Good. He slipped his hand around his wife's uninjured one and dozed off, leaning against the cot. Of course, he hadn't even taken his armor off yet, let alone gotten any sleep. And he definitely hadn't taken care of his own wounds. His body was covered in little scratches and burns where blasterfire had just barely gotten through his armor.

Pain.
The first thing she remembered when she woke was pain. And blood So much blood. Was it possible for someone to bleed that much? She lay there for a long time, feeling a palm over her unbandaged hand. Whos? Loranes, obviously. It wouldn't be Renolds.

Her eyes snapped open. Mal! Did he make it? Last thing she remembered, they were under attack again. There were lightsabers and gun shots.

"Lorane?"

Her voice felt fragile, almost too weak to make sound. What were all these wires and tubes sticking out of her? And all this equipment. And-
She looked down. She was almost naked, if not for the bandages across her chest. And...

"Is Galaar alive?"

Admittedly, Aloysius didn't have much of an appetite ever since his cousin arrived at the medical bay to be stabilised, and he had mostly been sitting somewhere rolling his thumbs. He couldn't really do much after the droids had taken care of her, and as far as he knew, doctor royalblue hadn't returned yet. Anyhow, if he couldn't eat anything, he could at least get some stimcaf with a bit of cream so he would at least get something.

It was then a convenient situation struck him as the doctor had entered a few minutes before just as Aloysius wanted to check on his cousin again. “Well good thing I didn't get to drink this yet,” he said entering the room and extending the cup of stimcaf to the doctor, “It's not food, but I figure you need this more than I do now.”

Aloysius didn't really look that tired, but one could see the leftovers of stress in his eyes. Whatever happened to the cup he smiled towards his cousin with an expression of relief.

Lor laughed weakly, relieved that his wife had awoken. He leaned his head against the side of the bed and very gently squeezed Rawnie's hand.
"Yes... Galaar's absolutely fine..."
He felt himself begin to cry a little bit. This was the closest he'd ever seen her come to death. All because of the stupid call to arms... Not even a call from the Mand'alor. The guy had disappeared, just like Corrin. Abdicating by absence. He was still leaning on the bed and crying when Rawnie's cousin came in. He wiped his eyes and blearily looked at the man and his coffee.
"Keep it. I'll get her some water. Better, with all that blood loss."
And, well, the baby. Coffee wasn't the greatest idea during pregnancy.

She sighed with relief. She'd been so scared. All this time. But her little one was a fighter. She knew it. Little Galaar was strong.

Shw looked up at lorane, shocked. He was... crying? Rawnies eyes stared at her husband for a long time. She'd absolutely never seen this from him before. He looked so young, so frightened. Why? She looked once more at the tubes and the wires. Not because of this, surely? Was he just feeling as relieved as she was that the baby was safe? That must have been it. She squeezed his hand weakly as her cousin came into the room.

"What about Mal?" she asked before he could get up to bring her water, "Did he make it out too?"

All she could remember was that lightsaber... She had no idea what she would tell his clan if he was dead. How did you tell people that their leader died trying to save you?

Lor looked at Rawnie, and almost snorted. Here was his wife, coming back from being nearly dead, and she was worried about Malcom? He was the one who'd dragged her into that fiasco of a military operation.
"Renolds is absolutely fine. I ditched him close to his village."
He got up and gently let go of her hand.
"I don't know or care what happened to the rest of the assault. The factory got overrun. Too damn bad for them."

The blonde sighed, relaxing again. So Mal was alive. Good. Of course he was. He wouldn't die so easy.

"Lor, Mal saved my life. And Galaar's life too," she reminded him, "I would have been killed by that sith in that tower if not for him."

Of course, I wouldn't have been in that tower in the first place if not for his order, but still...

She reached out to grab his hand again when he got up, but she couldn't reach it. So cold. Why was he being so icy now? It was a war. People died. She might have died too, and that was just part of it. Wasn't it better to beat back the Sith now before they made their way all the way to Mandalore and brought the fight here?

"Are you alright? You didn't get hurt did you? You're still wearing your armor..."

Lor turned back towards his wife again, raising an eyebrow. She really was determined for him to give Malcom credit.
"Rawnie, you were nearly killed because he was up there with you. Only the three of us still knew you were up there, and he gave you away by climbing up himself."
He gritted his teeth a little as he felt a piece of metal poke him in the torso, goading him a bit farther than he might've normally gone. This was Rawnie he was talking to. He knew she wasn't stupid. But he was angry, anyway.
"Next time you need somebody to leave you bleeding out in a ditch, find somebody else. I'm not taking my battle orders from you or him anymore."
He pushed his way past Aloysius to get to the kitchen. Rawnie needed water, and he seriously needed alcohol. Unknown to him, the little piece of metal jabbing him was actually farther in than he'd thought. He could feel the cut, but he couldn't feel the blood.

"Lorane!"

She called after him, but she was not angry. She knew how this had to feel for him. But he was wrong. He was very wrong. She had not been alone up in that tower. If Mal hadn't climbed up after her, that Sith would have cut into her until she had no more blood to spare.

She sighed, closing her eyes. He was emotional. Clearly. Well, he had every right to be. The operation had been a disaster from the start. She should have known better than to go in there in her condition. But orders were orders. She may be Alor of her clan, but she was still very low ranking. She was in no position to deny orders. Simply obey.

"...Lorane, calm down. You don't have to take orders anymore. You are my husband, not my soldier."

She put her hand over her eyes.

"Aly? Go talk some sense into him for me?"

Aloysius pretty much had his back turned to the conversation and wasn't listening out of respect as he expected to hear his name when they wanted something. He sipped his stemcaf until he heard his cousin’s request, which also made him turn around noticing the blood the chiss has left on the floor. “If not for your sake, at least for his own,” he responded as he went after his cousin's husband.

“Sorry, but you are going nowhere until you have been seen to by our medical droid. You're leaving a mess on the floor, and none of us want to see you faint after the adrenaline run out,” his words were blunt, but he lay no hand on the man. Instead, he walked next to him, his reaction ready should he do something.

“Will you do that much for family” He asked him in a less blunt tone that was at least some form of welcoming.

Lor nodded at Rawnie's cousin, tossing his jacket onto the nearest chair. His hands went for the straps of his armor and he gritted his teeth again.
"I'm quite aware of my injuries, Aloysius. Med droid won't do more than I can."
He finally got the chestplate of his armor off, letting out a bit of a relieved sigh as the sharp piece of metal came out along with it. And then groaning at the sight of more blood welling up from the wound it'd left.
"Heh. Seems like I got hit a little worse than I thought."

All that yelling. It woe her out. She felt her head hit the pillow again, too weak to keep it up, looking for her husband. She could barely hear her cousin over in the kitchen from here. Something about a medical droid, and a mess. She could not even process what that was about. Her husbands voice was softer. That she could not hear at all.

She closed her eyes. She wanted to apologize to her husband now. Even if he was wrong in this about most of what he said, she still felt guilty. She shouldn't have made him angry. And she should not have worried him. She'd promised before that she would try not to scare him again. She'd broken that promise. He was owed an apology for that.

“Good. Now go rest, and try not to come to any conclusion what happened on the battlefield until you got a third party who witnesses the situation,“ he turned his face towards the direction Rawnie was in, “That counts for you too Rawnie.”

Aloysius places his hand on Azure's shoulder (where it wasn't wounded), and spoke again in a not so loud tone, “I know you care for my cousin and that your this conflict comes out of a concern for her, but please remember that she can make her own decisions and can accept the consequences of them.”

After that he shooed the man out of the kitchen then came back with water for both of them. He wanted to bring food too, but they may have to wait a day since he didn't have anything liquid that could be feed through a tube on hand. Either way he served them the water where after he sat down on a nearby chair.

(If there is anything wrong with my post please tell me so. I wrote it very late my time.)
