Private Small Town Crime

"It's amazing how many lights you can find on a world like this. Are the stars above just too far away? Or do you hate them so much that they need to be blotted out by all this.. Glow?"

She sat in the window, just staring out over the city of Nar Shadda. Yeah, the city. The whole planet was just one big night club. It was.. Interesting to watch. At least for her. How could they block out the stars above, when they were so beautiful? Sofiel let out a sigh as she turned her gaze finally to the door. The Sith yellow, full of corruption, staring at the actual owner of this small apartment. In truth she'd just stolen a move she'd learned from Darth Temerant Darth Temerant .

".. Do you often get beat up here, Luck?"

"Never been much of a stargazer. Bit too calm for my taste."

Nar Shaddaa was an abysmal place. Rampant crime, gang warfare, slavery and suffering. That wasn't even mentioning the Hutts as a species. Luck loved it. It was a playground for him, a place to do terrible things just because he could. A city where anything was legal if you killed enough people. And the witch boy was quite fond of killing people.

Not that it didn't come without it's drawbacks. Luck was pretty much always scruffy here, his love for a good scuffle always leaving a fair share of cuts and bruises.

".. Do you often get beat up here, Luck?"

"Maybe," he shrugged with a casual grin. "You like climbing through windows often?"

Luck bit down into a burger he had stolen. From some random street thug, of course. The other guy was six feet under, so he didn't need it. He rubbed at the bandage on his nose before continuing.

"It's a flesh wound," the witch boy dismissed. "Should've seen the other guy. He's missing his spinal cord." A brief, totally not insane laugh escaped his mouth before continuing. "You aren't here to play nurse," Luck assumed indifferently. "Cut to the chase. Who am I killing today?"

Sofiel was a real business oriented individual. She was here for something specific. Luck, of course, hated being dragged into the business of others, but he needed to look good to the Sith Order leadership back home. Maybe he could have a little fun while he was at it. As long as it was illegal, Luck would manage.

"No, just trying something people seem to like to do."

She slipped from her perch, hands clasping behind her back once she was on her feet. As ever she gave the calm smile, walked right up and over to him to let her yellow eyes scan his form for just how injured he was. So far, he didn't seem too injured at all. Minor scrapes and bruises. Which meant he was in fighting condition.

"Some thug has an artifact they shouldn't. We're going to kill them all and take it back. Sounds easy, right?"

"You had me at 'kill them,' sister," Luck laughed. "Don't need to convince me."

It was pretty straight forward, really. Luck had never been one for wasting breath. They needed someone dead, so he was going to fervently enjoy doing it. Simple as that. The witch boy picked up his helmet, sliding it onto his head. After finishing his burger, of course. He wasn't letting that go to waste.

"Alright, lay it on me," he continued. "Gimme the details so we can get to the fun part."

Luck was very much eager to get out into the field. He wasn't one for wasting time when there was blood to be shed.

"Details?"

She tilted her head to the side, just as Vorthruz emerged from the shadows to land on her shoulder. Letting her just rest the side of her head against it's wing as she hummed in thought, rubbed her chin.

"No real details. I just know where the artifact is. Should I have more details?"

"For real?" Luck frowned. "I thought you were a schemer. Y'know, master plans and all that stuff."

He laughed momentarily under his helmet as another thought came to his mind. He had also thought, at one point or another, that Sofiel was lesbian. Hell, maybe she was, but he was more leaning towards her being a cold-hearted lunatic with no emotions. Being a cold hearted lunatic himself, he felt comfortable in that judgement.

"No plan, no problem," he shrugged. "I hate organization. It's easier to run in swingin' when they least expect it. And, well..."

The room twisted for a moment, blood dripping down the walls. The building itself seemed to warp, wobbling like a cube of gelatin. It was, of course, illusions, which he was sure Sofiel was well aware of. Her Keshian eyes were strange, after all. Luck was just a big fan of dramatic delivery, something that the natural abilities of his kind aided him in quite well.

"Give them a show."

The space shifted back, and Luck seized his lightsaber from the coffee table.

"Well then," he continued, "Lead the way."

Her gaze shifted, watching the illusions curiously with a tilt of her head. They weren't common things, being able to bend reality in such a way. Especially without directly involving her mind. Perhaps the Sith knew more about their connection to the Force than she gave them credit for. Then again, perhaps Luck was just crazy. She smiled the same cold smile as she let her gaze fall from the bleeding walls back to the masked individual.

And gave him a nod before stepping towards the door.

"That will do nicely, I think."

Then she turned to lead the way. It was just a quick elevator ride down to the street before she took an immediate left into one of the alleys. Hands behind her back, head high, she looked as eerily calm as ever as they walked through probably the shadiest parts of Nar Shadda.

"Why do you live here, Luck?"

"Why do you live here, Luck?"

It was a strange question to ask as they walked through the streets of Nar Shaddaa. It wasn't that Luck was born here. He held no sentimental value towards anything, save a good cheeseburger at 5am. It was far simpler than that, really.

"It's miserable here," he stated "Plain and simple. The expectation 'round here is that either you or the person you bump into is windin' up dead. It's beautiful, really. Complete chaos. No laws, no regulations. All that matters here is how well you can pick off the competition. The ideal state of all things should be up in flames."

A world where you could do whatever the hell you wanted. That was what Luck truly desired. Anarchy. Annihilation. A galaxy torn asunder up, burning to the ground. There was an artform in chaos, a majesty in it's simplicity. And, of course, nothing would make it more complete than a grand finale. One final action that reduced the universe to nothingness. The closing act of a grand, cosmic play.

"Perhaps it's difficult to explain to one such as yourself," he shrugged. "You certainly have an orderly air about you."

No laws. No regulations.

For the briefest moment, her expression soured. Though perhaps that's why they never looked up to the stars. They were too busy being consumed by their lack of rules. Perhaps Luck was the same way. .. No, very much just the way he was. Perhaps through observing her, she could figure out a better way to.. Correct, people like him.

"No, I don't understand. But perhaps I will, in time."

Luck grinned wickedly beneath his domed helmet. Her momentarily sour expression was enough to let him know that he had struck a nerve. The witch boy, if anything else, lived to frustrate the people around him. Extra points if they were his peers. Sofiel was, as he had predicted, a very orderly person after all. He was certainly open to shattering her worldview and values for the hell of it.

"So where we off to?" the Sith asked. "Where's this guy we're killin' usually hangin' around?"

He had a few guesses. Clubs, hotels, gang strongholds. Anywhere where crime and chaos was, obviously, which was around every corner of the planet. Still, even criminals had their preferred location, from the top of the food chain to the lowly Nikto enforcer. It frankly didn't matter much who it was, but Luck did like to know more about his targets. Made it more interesting to hunt them down.

"Just down this way. Vorthruz already scouted them out."

She lifted a hand, pointing down the path with the calm smile once more on her face. The alley was empty here, just tall, lightless buildings. Not a soul in sight. Vorthruz slipped through the shadows, only the briefest flash of the white mask it wore signaling it was still around them. Sofiel lowered her hand shortly after, clasping it calmly behind her back with her eyes just watching Luck. Observing. Studying.

Judging.

"After you."

"After you."

"Don't mind if I do," Luck cackled.

The witch boy wound back his leg, sending it full force into the door of the establishment. His leg warped ever so slightly, be it dark side enhancement or the strange nature of his illusions. The true answer was unclear. The durasteel door was torn from it's hinges, launching across the entryway of the building. A satisfied grin spread across Lucks face as he stepped forward, peering into the lobby.

"That's a much more fitting entrance," he decided. "It's far more enjoyable when your prey knows they're on the clock. Fear makes things so exciting."

There was one thing that Luck wanted to make astronomically clear; This man was already dead. He was certain of it.

Sofiel tilted her head.

The door was kicked open, but she wasn't sure how exactly he'd done it. But now, well. The way was open. Sofiel stepped through first, her yellow eyes scanning around. Someone was there. They were panicked, raising a blaster. Starting to shout about how they were under attack. Or at least, they were going to. Sofiel raised a hand, pointed a finger at them, and then their torso was gone.

Surprise was all they had on their now dead face as what remained tumbled to the ground.

"The artifact is downstairs. Kill anyone you find. Vorthruz, find it."

Without delay the Familiar on her shoulder sunk into the shadows, it's white mask the only visible part on the wall before it took off down the hall. More yelling came from further within. The thugs, all readying for a fight.

"Have fun."

"Have fun."

"With pleasure!"

Luck howled with excitement as he charged in, drawing his duel-bladed lightsaber. The thugs within began to fire, but all their blaster bolts seemed to do was shift around him. Luck was, in fact, blocking them, but his illusions preyed upon their weaker constitutions. The hallways twisted like funhouse mirrors, curling in and bending in unnatural manners as pockets of what could only be described to as void by sane men ripped open, beings of unimaginable horrors appearing within.

The witch boy relished in the taste of their absolute terror as he ripped through them, laughing in a high-pitched shrill that screamed insane. As other thugs looked on in fear, far to petrified to react, Luck stuck his gloved hand through ones chest, rupturing the poor soul's internal organs. The Sith casually removed his hand, wiped the blood onto the face of his helmet, and proceeded to casually strut towards the next batch.

"It's been too long since I last let loose," he lamented. "I've needed this."

With another snarl, he leapt back into action.

Luck was wonderfully effective. She watched just for a moment as reality seemed to bend to his will. Well, she could see it wasn't. Both the illusion and reality stayed visible to her, only making it more disorienting. For others, probably. But her attention soon shifted. She walked behind him, gazing through the doors into the various rooms with her yellow eyes. Just double checking for other threats.

Not much, though. There was one who was hiding in fear. She just flashed them a smile before their head was simply gone once her finger was pointed towards them.

No survivors.

Here.

She paused. Her gaze grew distant as she instead looked through her Familiar's eyes. A vault.

Ah. Perfect.

"There's a vault down stairs."

Thwump.

A grenade, from a grenade launcher no less, was lobbed their way from the direction she'd just started to point down. Her hand flattened as a swirl of colors formed in her palm. A barrier, seeming alive in it's own right, took the blast for her.

".. And heavy weaponry."

"We'll see about that."

Luck wasted no time throwing himself down the stairs, lightsaber outstretched before him. A second grenade was fired, which the Sith skillfully allowed to accidentally pass between his open legs before planting his lightsaber into the chest of the grenadier at the bottom of the staircase. He wasn't worried about Sofiel. She had that funny color thing, and it seemed pretty resistant to grenades.

In this moment of lapsed focus, Luck felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. A thug had stabbed him with a small knife of some kind when he glory killed the grenadier. The witch-boy barely reacted, ripping the knife out of his arm and lodging it through the thug's forehead. He was bleeding now, but who the feth cared?

After all, he was always bleeding.

"Vorthruz."

The Shadow of a familiar shifted through the room, it's white mask the only visible aspect of it as it moved across flat surfaces like it was part of them. Through and closer to the vault, passing through the bars. Then it spread. Everything within was consumed by shadow, leaving all the shelves bare. Sofiel walked down the stairs behind Luck, her hands clasped behind her back once more, the calm smile on her face as the swirl of color continued to float around her head.

"Will you perish, Luck?"
