Slumber.

Dagora-Kel was not an engineer, of this there was no doubt. Sure, he knew how to put together an exceptional suit of armor. Sure, he knew how to maintain small operating systems and the like. However, when it came to starship design, there were numerous individuals who were far better than he. Despite this fact, the Dar'manda found himself laying awake one evening itching to create. Ideas cluttered his formerly-troubled mind, causing the sweet embrace of slumber to evade him. Typically, one would remedy a sleepless evening with narcotics or alcohol...but Dagora decided to act a touch more constructively. Sitting up, the CEO pulled the covers away from his body and placed his attention briefly upon the bedside table.

Reaching, he began to rummage through the contents of the drawers in search of the essentials. Deoderant? Nope. Allegry Medicine? Nope. It took a good five seconds of digging before he found one of the few good pens that hadn't been swiped by his eldest daughter. Having successfully procured the tool, Dagora then delved into the next drawer in search of a canvas. All that his efforts turned up was a take-out menu...that just so happened to be stained with coffee. "This'll do." he muttered, before sitting back upon his pillow.

Biting his lip momentarily, the Dar'manda organized his thoughts. Then, his favorite pen touched down upon stained paper.

For the most part, the initial phases of the Dar'manda's "brainstorming" consisted of taking stock of what had recently been acquired by his corporation. First and foremost, his entrance into the Tion Hegemony had seen new assets become available for his usage; assuming that he scratched the same backs that scratched his. Of these, Dagora personally had his eye on a particular armament produced by Santhe/Sienar: the Variable Speed Laser Cannon. Given that Arakyd Industries had fingers in numerous, manufacturing pies, such an armament would come in handy with whatever vessel the Dar'manda dreamed up.

Of course, Dagora wouldn't rely solely on the products created by Sienar for this brainstorming session. In fact, there was an armament produced by Arakyd herself that would work beautifully alongside the Variable Speed Laser Cannon: the Flex-Tube Proton Torpedo Launcher. This weapon allowed for numerous types of ordnance to be fielded without the need for separate launcher types. Alongside a laser cannon designed to address numerous types of battlefield threats via firing speed...well, a vessel equipped with both would be a versatile monster to deal with.

But what else could be fielded in the spirit of versatility? What else did Arakyd have access to that could be pooled into a monsterous fighter?

Well, for one, there was the matter of propulsion.

When it came to this particular area, Dagora's mind instantly thought of the Pulsed Ion Engine Mk. II. However, this particular means of propulsion was best suited for such things as fast attack or patrol vessels. These were ship classifications that Arakyd had already dabbled in via their most recent starfighter models. As such, perhaps it was time to step away from the PIE engines and focus on something a touch less...niche. The Dar'manda would most certainly look into what the Techno Union and the Hegemony had in regards to engines, but for this particular moment he shelved the issue.

Instead, he moved onto another form of propulsion: the Hyperdrive unit. As much as he adored the Silkworm Hypertransit Package, Arakyd Industries did not have any connections to Silk Holdings as of yet. However, what they did have was an existing contract with Nubia Star Drives. This particular agreement saw the Pulsed Ion Engine exchanged for a .07 Class Hyperdrive: the S-6. This unit would suit the purpose of this brainstorming session beautifully; for .07 easily outpaced the military standard Class 1.

But what else...armaments...Hyperdrive...what more could be done?

Well, the first thing to come to mind was something Arakyd was already famed for. There was a certain coating that could be applied to the hulls of their starships to render them invisible to sensors. Of course, the downside of this wonderful countermeasure was that moving too fast would render the coating ineffective; as the emissions from the vessel would be picked up. As such, for the most part, the corporation coated vessels with Nightshadow that were slow enough to evade this pitfall; or at least had systems in place to counteract this shortcoming.

From the looks of it, that which the Dar'manda had jotted down was shaping into a starfighter; and as such that particular class would be too small and swift to benefit from Nightshadow. The reality was that the emissions were simply too much: a coated ship would only remain hidden if it was moving at a veritable snail's pace compared to a starfighter's top speed. Despite this, the coating was still exceptional...and Dagora found himself wanting to find a way to circumvent the pitfall on starfighters.

The poor pen, it was being bitten again...

As the Dar'manda literally chewed it over, he had the genius notion to physically look into this particular matter. For the briefest of moments, the pen was liberated from his lips whilst he returned to the drawer once more. This time, there was not much rummaging to be done, for he found instantly that which he sought: his datapad. Returning to his comfortable position, he then booted the device on and made his way over to the standard search engine. His query was something along the lines of combating emissions detection. Now, if he were an engineer, the yielded results would have been obvious.

But, he wasn't an engineer. He was good, but he didn't know everything.

For the most part, two major results were yielded. The first was a system dedicated to dampening the thrust's traceability. This seemed the obvious choice...but also reeked of a high price tag. The concept already had the makings of not being cheap, and the corporation did not have any such systems handy. As such, Dagora found himself contemplating the latter of the yields: different types of fuel. This was a more plausible option considering the most recent, corporate acquisition: 5% Ownership of Mara Tibx and Fuels.

Now came the time to look into exactly what sort of fuels he had to work with.

With but a series of deft taps upon the screen of the datapad, the Dar'manda navigated away from the search engine and worked his way into the MTF database. This was...a relatively slow process, as Dagora had yet to completely memorize the passcodes and whatnot that came with victory at the auction. However, when it was all said and done, he made his way into the local inventory and began browsing the various fuels available for utilization. There was one, the namesake of the corporation, that seemed to be the perfect answer to the Achilles' Heel of Nightshadow: TibannaX. According to the information provided by the system, this particular fuel's emissions cooled in milliseconds; thereby allowing them to evade detection via sensors.

And if the emissions weren't able to be picked up by sensors, then the Nightshadow would work as designed. This. Was. Perfect.

Grinning, the Dar'manda immediately placed the datapad down upon the mattress and made a note on his stained piece of paper. "Nightshadow + TibannaX" it read. Now, yet another system had been incorporated into the concept; and by Dagora's standards it was looking beautiful. However, now came the issue of balancing the vessel so that it would meet the approval of the Board; as they weren't going to greenlight a project of ludicrious proportions.]

From what Dagora had learned, there were three attributes to consider when balancing a vessel. It did not matter if the ship was a several thousand meter Star Destroyer or if it was the smallest of freighters. All ships had three traits to contemplate when balance was on the table. Armament. Speed. Durability. These were the holy trinity of vessel traits; and now it was time to work out where this pending vessel would lean. So, to start, the Dar'manda took into account that which he had jotted down thus far...and for the most part, none of the three major traits had a glaring advantage as of yet.

So, Dagora mulled over the vessels Arakyd had churned out during his tenure as CEO. They had a growing line of niche vessels and even a submersible destroyer...but nothing that really screamed "offense" in his opinion. The Jackdaw was ridiculously fast and designed for swift attacks. The Caracara was slower and designed for heavy support...and this vessel could simply fill the niche of space superiority. Special Space Superiority.

With that thought in mind, the Dar'manda decided to have the vessel lean towards offense. With the earlier decision to omit the Pulsed Ion Engines, there would not be a large sum of strength in the speed area; and the vessel's Nightshadow/TibannaX combo would effectively negate a need for reinforced hull plating (for one can't hit what they can't see). As such, above average armament, average hull, and ever-so-slightly below average speed would be the intended build.

Now that the rough draft had been constructed, the time now came for a professional touch to be incorporated. As such, the Dar'manda once more took his datapad in hand. This time, he temporarily minimized the inventory of MTF and instead navigated over to the messenger. Although he was literally on the other side of the Galaxy, and as such time zones were in all sorts of disarray, Dagora felt confident sending the message. Why? He knew he would receive an immediate response. This was one of the privileges of signing everyone's paycheck...when he said jump, everyone asked "how high?"

Tonight, the message was directed at the design team responsible for the Albatross-class Submersible Destroyer. They had proven themselves capable of putting together an innovative design, and as such they were the CEO's "golden" group at the moment. He composed the message as...eloquently...as he could and outlined the features of this potential starfighter. He also included a desire for a "sleek" aesthetic; for nothing this innovative was going to look like a glorified clunker when revealed to the masses. Finally, he requested of the design team to provide a name for the vessel, as it would be their efforts that would see the ship come to life.

Sure, his lack of sleep inspired it, but they deserved the real praise.

Now came the waiting game.

Although buzzing with excitement over a potential masterpiece, Dagora was understandably patient. After all, once could not rush excellence; and that is exactly what the design team had proven itself to be. So, the Dar'manda placed his datapad down and rose from his bed. While waiting for a response, he figured that he could grab a drink and occupy himself somehow. So, he wandered about the halls of his apartment for a few moments, procuring a shot glass and a bottle of Corellian Whiskey, before returning to the room.

He then returned to his bed and opened up the HoloNet on his datapad. There wasn't really much to do here save goof off. He read the news, watched a funny Bantha video, took a gander at the stocks, etc. Then, just as boredom was about to dropkick him into next year, the datapad sounded with a loud "ping!" A message had been received: an answer, finally.

Dagora eagerly flipped over and read the response...and found a grin forming on his face. The design team went above and beyond the call of duty once more. They gave a rough figure of how much it would cost to create this vessel, provided some concept sketches from the archives, and even dubbed the project "Aquila." That had a nice ring to it...

Now that the design teams had put their seal of approval on "Project Aquila", it was time to get the rest of the corporation on board. Sure, it was a little...much...to bug the Board of Directors with a starfighter project; but when it came from the CEO's office directly and involved collaborating with two sovereign companies...input would always be appreciated. So, a meeting was set to discuss the finer points of the vessel, funding, and whatnot. However, from the look of things, the Aquila was not outside the realm of possibility. It was well-balanced and boasted several key traits that would make it a standout model within Arakyd's product line-up.

And for the heck of it, Dagora was going to see to it that the vessel was compatible with iBorg's newest toy.
