The 8th Noble
Another day at the temple, another handful of people to meet. So far it had been a tumultuous roller coaster, a greater catastrophe than Colette could have ever imagined it to be. If she hadn't stammered, she'd ended up tongue-tied by something else. If there was a social faux pas to make it seemed almost inevitable that she pulled it. Or so it felt like at the very least.
Life was easier in the wasteland where there was a larger focus on something else binding people together: survival. Survival wasn't really an issue on Coruscant. There was no need to hunt or forage for food and the water was seemingly endless. This was the second refill that Colette had granted herself today. Back home that would have been almost unheard of. The canteens were proportioned to cover most of a person's need for water while still not being cumbersome to carry on a belt. Everyone had their right to fill one whole canteen for the day and was deeply encouraged not to waste a single drop of it.
Needless to say, water held a deep meaning to Colette. She took a careful swig of the water as she walked down the corridor. The door to her dorm room swooped open and there before her stood someone that she had never seen before. They seemed to be around her age, but they were of some other species that she did not recognize. Not that Colette recognized many of them. Isolated nomadic tribes were as they were.
There was no malice in her staring, but there was certainly no denying that the girl was staring at this other girl for a long while before she looked over at her bed and then the one next to it. This must have been that other one the others had been talking about, the so-called 'room mate'.
Colette placed the canteen against her lips to buy herself time and took a long swig to come up with something to say.
"Hi." She said, and that was all she could say before the rest of the words she had come up with began to shift and change in her head like an increasingly stormy little rain cloud. "I am— Wait, no, I mean—"
"You must be the mate." She extended her hand as if to grip the words before they could reach Loomi's ears. It was too late. "The room mate!" She exclaimed. "You are the one I am—"
"We share." Colette swallowed her spit along with the rest of the words she WANTED to say but seemingly couldn't. "This… Room."
"... I think?"
