Slight the Odds

Smoke was still rising from the city, one of the rare ones to be located above water on Glee Anselm. The incident was from the day before, but not all the embers had burnt out, and for all their knowledge of how to operate under water, the Nautolans knew little of life above it.

The local disaster was being called a terrorist attack, though none had claimed to be behind it yet. There was talk of groups being against resettling the cities above water, and some linked it to anti-Sith or pro-Sith activists. Glee Anselm had enjoyed stability for the most part, ever since the One Sith had taken control. After they left, however, it left some confusion as to the illusion of there being a real power vacuum. For all they knew, it could've been a rogue, deranged individual as well. Idris was not mainly concerned with who was behind it, his focus was on helping the survivors and the community rebuild.

The Olympus Medical Institution, or OMI, was already on the planet after setting up one of their research facilities there. It was a vast, somewhat secluded ocean planet, which intel suggested had the ideal climate for various sorts of operations. At the very least it offered the privacy to conduct it.

They hadn't gotten far in their process of settling down and into their research, on account of arriving here very recently. In addition to that, as the situation of the recent tragedy had cropped up, their resources had been distracted as Voahan, OMI's CEO, had refused to ignore it. They were to show everyone here on Glee Anselm what they were about, and help provide medical aids to the wounded, as well as help rebuild the city.

As fates would have it, they did not get very far in their process of helping the survivors. The next day the idea of there being a single bomber was revealed as a myth. Civilians and even those under OMI's employ was opened fire upon from multiple sources, and forced to lay off the relief efforts.

That's when Idris knew he had to make a call to call in the cavalry.

If you needed a band of steady mercenaries that wouldn't betray you.

Who did you call?

Didact Defense Solutions.

Over the last year they had grown exponentially. Snapping up more and more power, influence, strength, their reputation stretched far and it spoke of a number of things. It spoke of competence, of loyalty - as long as the checks didn't bounce - and most importantly they didn't switch sides once a contract was signed. In Tash's experience the short-term monetary gain from such an act didn't actually make the reputation damage worth it.

It only took a handful of time for one Lord Itash of House Mecetti to step through the doors of Voahan's office.

"Mister Voahan." He'd greet easily, glancing around to watch the room they were in. Classy. "Lord Itash of House Mecetti, you wished for assistance?"

The name of Didact Defense Solutions had indeed reached him, and when a contact of his had recommended them, well, then the matter was settled.

Idris looked up from his desk, nose buried in datapads and holovid to the side that he was only barely watching. “Ah!” he exclaimed as Itash entered the scene.

“Lord Itash” he returned, maintaining formalities as he rose from his seat and giving a greeting nod. “I did indeed.”

Idris watched the man as he nonchalantly entered the little makeshift office he had set up here on Glee Anselm, while glancing around and surveying the room. The office itself wasn’t particularly grandeur, not like Coruscant.

Here he found maintaining the impression of being a down-to-earth and relatable guy, even if he was rich and from nobility, brought forth the best results. He had to hide a little smirk, as he wondered how much Itash knew and what he expected.

Some young altruist who had no money of his own but floated from one charity donation to the next? Or perhaps he had done his research and knew Idris was a lord as well. In any case

“The situation is this” with a brush of his hand the holovid stopped and started again from the beginning, expanding widely to the point where the images filled the entire room. “Here’s where OMI are working on reconstructing the destroyed areas of the city, and heeere….” he waited, but not for long.

Suddenly the construction workers were opened fire upon from multiple sources. They were unarmed and were quickly driven off. The work they had done became rigged with explosives, and back to scratch they were.

It didn't truly matter if Tash knew or didn't know that Idris was a Lord.

After all.

He didn't introduce himself as such and that gave Itash plausible deniability. This was, as many things, a game for the Mecetti scion. To push and prod and see just what the reaction would be. Just because he was curious and nothing more. Perhaps it would have been more beneficial -- in the business sense -- not to push this Voahan around, after all, business was good, yes?

But Mecetti had never truly concerned himself with anything as blasé as money.

There were more interesting pursuits.

So, for the meantime Voahan remained mister until he corrected it to Lord himself. "Hm." Tash didn't seem overly disturbed by the sigh, but he was just a touch curious about it.

It seemed rather senseless?

"Do you know who is attacking your people?"
