Description: Since the dawn of the firearm, people have sought ways to hide them in convenient places, so they may kill people at intimate range without the other guy catching on that they're about to bite the literal bullet. This idea was perfected with the derringer, a small, compact pistol firing small, low powered rounds designed to be used from no more than a few feet away. Modern examples of the derringer are still in production today.

The holdout blaster is the Star Wars universe's answer to the derringer. These tiny weapons can be easily concealed in a wrist holster, giving the wielder the element of surprise, but they're either extremely low powered or only have enough power for a shot or two.

RCFC's new sleeve gun, the SL-1, is an attempt to give the discerning gunman or gambler a weapon with the power of a larger blaster while still allowing for maximum concealability.

In essence, the SL-1 is a full sized blaster pistol with the grips and any accouterments not directly related to firing stripped away. It features a 12 cm barrel mated with a cylindrical magazine that combines both the gas reservoir and the power cell into a single unit. To load, one simply screws the new magazine into the back of the weapon, and unscrews it when depleted. Advanced threading technology allows it to lock in securely with a half turn. Reloading isn't a quick process by any means if you're being shot at, but if you have ten seconds to breathe, it can be accomplished more rapidly than many other concealable weapons.

The weapon is remotely triggered by a signal from the mounting system, which resembles a vambrace. The firing signal is unique to the weapon and mount pair. The vambrace is then programmed to fire via any one of a dozen different ways. It can be paired with a pressure switch, or fired by specific nerve impulses. In testing, RCFC found that the most popular way to fire the weapon was to have the wearer make the shape of a gun with the hand, thumb sticking up and forefinger sticking out. They found it most amusing to pull the "trigger" like a child playing cops and robbers, only to have a very real and very lethal blaster bolt come screaming out of their sleeve.

The system is held in place by a series of adjustable armorweave straps. The straps are durable and comfortable, and the surface that contacts the skin has been lined with a special padding that is not only moisture wicking, but slip resistant. The system comes as one size fits all, but custom tailoring is available on request. The straps allow the weapon to be mounted on the top or bottom of the forearm. An armorweave heat shield is available as well. It can be tailored to resemble a number of fashionable garments, and is effective at shielding the user from the heat of the bolt.

Though the SL-1 is capable of burning through light armor within its effective range, it should be noted that this is not a weapon designed for use against law enforcement or military personnel. Issued body armor will almost certainly stop the bolt, and RCFC highly recommends that the customer not attempt to test this theory. Doing so may lead to injury, incarceration, or death, and will void the warranty.
