Fevris Derzelas Fevris Derzelas

Anya held the book of Xenobiology in her lap, as Fevris navigated the traffic with ease. While she studied the book, she couldn’t help pausing every now and then as her pale blue eyes seemed to stray towards her companion. With each day that passed, the redheaded woman got to continue to accompany the other woman into the lab and hospital and she was beginning to learn about everything medicine. At first, she had been a mere watchful eye, studying the other and quizzing her about the work that she was doing. Of course, she wasn’t a fool, she knew that certain things would be off limits to her and so, she found herself buried into medical textbooks of all kinds.

However, studying seemed almost… Natural to her, almost as if she had dedicated her life to consistently grow and chase new things to learn her entire life. It had also created a distraction, one big enough where she wouldn’t focus on the lack of memories or the fact that no one had tried to find her. The facts were troubling for sure and yet she was still having nightmares at night; at least she thought she was, for she was continuously waking up in a cold sweat with the sheets tangled and twisted up between her legs as if she had been tossing and turning all night. Only, she didn't remember the nightmares at all. Each night was the same and while she dreaded having to go to sleep, Anya always seemed to enjoy waking up and seeing Fevris first thing in the morning.

Her gaze lingered upon the other woman in quiet thought and a smirk curved her lips for a moment. ”Let’s go out tonight. Like. On a dinner date.” She finally said as she closed the book in her lap, which added a note of finality to it. Almost as if there was no room for debate. It wasn’t even really posed as a question, more like a statement. A matter of fact tone with no wriggle room to spare. For the woman had been living with Fevris for six weeks now and with each day that passed, she couldn’t help but slowly begin to fall for the brilliant mind that the doctor seemed to have. To watch her day after day as she navigated through some sticky situations and worked incredibly hard at her job; which was a privilege that she had gotten to see. It was so easy to see why Fevris didn’t have time for anyone else or to expand upon her social circle. The fact that they had crossed paths, was merely a happy accident. One that she was thoroughly enjoying.

”As much as I enjoy the work that we do between here and home, I want to take you out to dinner. I hear that there is a nice restaurant opening up tonight and I want to take you there.” Anya finally said as her gaze lingered upon the woman’s lips for a few seconds, before her gaze shifted away and looked outside the speeder as it was coming up towards Noxis Tower. Her behavior was not at all shy about her intentions, in fact, it was sure of herself and pretty straight forward. She wasn’t at all afraid to voice her thoughts and although at first she hadn’t set out to intentionally find the other woman attractive, she couldn’t help it. In fact, if there was something that she wanted, she had never been afraid of going after it and today, that was exactly what she planned to do.

The only variable; had been Fevris herself. After all, if it hadn’t been for the woman, Anya wouldn’t be alive and yet while she had felt a need to protect the woman, she had also felt a sense of care which had developed over the small period that they had known each other, into something more. ”I made nine o’clock reservations,” She said as yet another smirk curved her lips.

Her eyes were on the street ahead, posture relaxed against the speeder's seat and hands resting comfortably on the steering wheel. However, even if her attention seemed to be focused on the road, the same couldn't be said for her thoughts. Only this time it wasn't calculations, and formulas, and ideas that seemed to plague her mind but the woman in the passenger's seat, a book Fevris loved nestled between her hands as she continued to read even during the drive. It had been a month and a half since the night she had met her, bleeding out and with no trace of her memories or identity, besides a name.

The Doctor was sure she had never truly felt for anyone. Physical attraction was one thing, but enjoying a person's company in this way was something entirely different. She was not particularly known for her tolerance, and people often had a way of draining her social battery quite fast before feelings of annoyance or, at the very least, wanting to crawl back into her solitude began brewing in her. But Anya was different. There was something about the woman that fascinated her, probably because of the very fact that she couldn't put her finger on what.

Much like her, Fevris was not one to hold back once she had set her sights on a goal. But the nature of their situation put a chain in her boldness. A side of her was grateful for having crossed paths with the redhaired lady, she had enjoyed the last few weeks even more than she realized. Spending time with her, whether it was while she worked countless hours inside a laboratory or the late dinners in the kitchen at her apartment, was something she looked forward to. But then, on the other hand, would it last? Anya would get her memories back eventually. It had taken longer than she had originally expected, but all studies led her to the same conclusion.

Of course, Fevris wanted this to happen. Not only because Anya was her patient and she wanted her to get better, but also because she had grown to care for her in ways she hadn't anticipated. That said, no one could know what would happen once Anya's past stopped being a dark question mark. Maybe she already had someone. No one had come looking for her, the idea alone made Fevris feel sour - even if the Doctor didn't have a family or many friends to speak of, she was pretty sure at least her coworkers would look into it if she was to disappear. Indeed, if there was someone in Anya's life, Fevris would have a thing or two to say to them. Was she being protective now? Maybe.

Her attention drew back from her thoughts when Anya spoke, her blue eyes gliding to meet hers for a moment before a pleased grin found its way into her expression. "Hm," There was a distinct happiness to her tone, "Doesn't sound like I've got much of a choice, do I?" She said, her voice playful as they made it to Noxis Tower and she began the descent into the parking area. She was still smiling, and it felt so foreign to her. It also felt right. Once the landspeeder was finally landed, her deep blue eyes met hers, "That sounds wonderful to me." Her gaze lingered on Anya for a moment too long, before she left the speeder and walked with the other woman towards the elevator.

Once inside the smaller space, she kept her eyes still locked on the woman as though she was making up for the time wasted in the drive when she couldn't look at her. Finally, after a moment of silence, she spoke again. "You never cease to surprise me," And in the best of ways. Soon enough they were within the apartment that had been home to both of them for the last few weeks. M.A.R.I.S said her hellos, sounding happy about seeing both of them and wishing them a fun night before going back to her silence. Of course the AI knew.

"I'll go shower and change and we can get going, then." She said, standing close to Anya. "I won't be long. Don't want to keep my date waiting," She added, smirking once more before heading off to her room to get ready. She was looking forward to this night, and a smile was apparently permanently plastered on her face for the time being.

She loved the sound of Fevris's voice, especially when she laughed or the way she smiled. For as her gaze shifted back to the woman beside her, she could see the way that the smile touched upon not only her lips, but seem to reflect deeply within her blue eyes. It was a joy to see and she very much enjoyed putting a smile upon her lips, for it was a secret pleasure of hers, especially considering the fact that she had also watched Fevris for countless hours as she frowned over certain problems and delved deeply into her personal projects. To know that she could give the woman some kind of playful element and lighten her life up, was far better than actually being able to remember as to who she actually was.

The playful words, the lingering glances, the smiles and the softly spoken words. It was all music to her ears and as they stood in the elevator, she couldn’t help but chuckle softly as she resisted the urge to reach out to draw her close, only to kiss her lips. Such restraint had to be relied upon however and she slid her free hand into the pocket of her tight pants, while the other remained holding onto the book tightly as if it was a life raft. ”What can I say? I’m a woman of great mystery,” Anya said softly as the smirk remained upon her lips while enjoying the simple closeness that the elevator had boxed them into. It was almost a shame that she had to let her go for a shower however and she watched as the other, headed off to her room.

With every day that passed, she had found that she had confidence in spades and that being nervous of any standing, was just not simply her. There was also another thing that she had to talk to Fevris about, something which she herself had found out just recently. The fact being, that while the good Doctor was busy with her confidential lab project, she herself had decided to follow a lead. One being that everyone had a bank account. Which just so happened that Anya did too. To find the bank, she had to call several of them and then make a physical appearance. Yet, it still hadn’t led her to finding anything else out, because everything had been deposited by physical credits. Apparently, the clerk had been severely surprised at the time, even though she couldn’t even remember walking into the bank.

After Fevris disappeared from view, Anya set about showering and getting herself dressed, as she pondered upon the information that she had stumbled upon that day. If she had that much just lying around, then who the hell was she? Such information plagued her mind as she finally pulled her annoying red hair up into a high ponytail, only to pause long enough to pull on her shoes and tie them up. To which end, she exited her room and waited in the lounge room for her date. A date that she wanted nothing more than to push her against a wall and ravish her lips with her own.

Slowly, she exhaled as she bit her bottom lip. She wasn’t nervous, per se, for she didn’t get nervous. What she did get were urges and the last thing she didn’t want to do, was chase the other woman off. However, she was beginning to get the feeling that such a feat would be almost impossible, as she had watched the skill and confidence that Fevris displayed on a daily basis. Such a thing was breathtaking, so breathtaking that she had to make sure that she herself didn’t get distracted while doing her own work.

Fevris Derzelas didn't do dating. This had been a known truth to everyone who could pride themselves in saying they knew the Doctor a little bit better than any other next person, although then again absolutely no one except the AI that lived with her could claim to have any form of relevant, personal, intimate bond with her. In her mind it was simple. She didn't get along well enough with most people, and even when she did gestures like dates, or caring so much in general felt more like a labor than a respite. And she had always been very honest to herself. What was the point of entertaining someone's feelings if she simply didn't return them in the way it was expected of her?

She wasn't a piece of duracrete, and could remember a time or two in which letting go of a...partner, for lack of a better word, had caused her some form of mild sadness. But it was the right thing to do, for both of them. This was something Fevris thought would never change about her. Too used to her solitude and her own ways, too caught up with her work and her own mind to become the type of person someone would want to be with. Now a surprised smirk settled on her lips as she thought about how wrong she had been and walked into the shower to get ready.

Anya was...something else entirely. Fevris didn't feel like she needed to do any changing or adjusting to be with her and enjoy every second of the time spent together. It simply happened. Hours at the lab she would spend in absolute silence remained just as productive and important, only now from now and then she'd find herself looking over her shoulder to find the other woman because she wanted to show her what he was doing or inquire about what had her attention. The way Anya's mind worked was captivating to her, more so than any of her research. Not once since they had met had she felt the need to be on her own, to want to get away. A feeling that plagued her quite easily after just a little too much time spent in the presence of anyone else.

For the first time, she had absolutely no objections or grudges to getting ready to go out. Actually, she was looking forward to it and even as she dried her hair and began putting on her own clothes her thoughts kept going back to Anya. This didn't feel like another weight on her shoulders, this was something she wanted. And even if this side of herself felt foreign to her, it was the best thing she had felt in a long while.

It didn't take her long to finish getting ready, and she didn't lose a second before leaving her room and walking back towards the lounge room. As soon as Anya was within her sights, her eyes immediately took to the wonderful task of exploring the woman's figure, a small smile of deep and absolute appreciation stretching her lips. She was shamelessly checking the other woman out, not an ounce of shyness in her. The Doctor was not one to be covert about her opinions unless she had to, and Anya was looking like a dream right now.

Fevris simply couldn't take her eyes off of her.

"Absolutely gorgeous." The words escaped her lips just as her blue gaze met the other woman's. Even then, she thought nothing she said could really do her justice. Fevris was of the mind that actions spoke louder than words, but the night was still too young and she was willing to practice restraint if only savor every moment with Anya. Once again, she came to stand just a little bit closer than she really needed to, enjoying the proximity. Now near her, Fevris had the impression that there was something on Anya's mind but didn't ask for the time being, they'd have plenty of time to talk soon enough.

"We should get going, nine o'clock is closing in." Truly, she would have been perfectly content standing in the middle of the lounge the whole night if in the company of Anya, but they already had plans. Once they were both in the elevator it would descend once more until they were in the parking lot. Just as they had done almost every morning since Anya's arrival, Fevris got in the landspeeder and soon enough they were on their way to the restaurant.

It was a nice looking place, although of course, Fevris couldn't care less cause there was only one thing that was going to have her undivided attention and right now it was getting out of the landspeeder alongside her. Once they were both on the sidewalk, the Doctor simply couldn't help herself and allowed one of her arms to snake around Anya's waist and bringing her close to her side, getting rid of any space between them. Of course, she kept her eyes on her to see if her gesture was welcomed as they began making their way towards the entrance, where a receptionist droid awaited.

If someone had told Anya that she would be going out on a date with her doctor when she had first woken up and found herself lying in a hospital bed, she would have laughed. Because the very thought was almost absurd and yet here she stood, in the middle of the lounge room while waiting for Fevris to come out. As such, she angled her head downwards for a moment, while her arms moved to interlock behind her back in silent thought. Thoughts which kept returning to the fact that she was now here, going on a date which seemed fairly out of character for the woman. The thought itself had put a frown upon her forehead and she was once again confronted with another thought. Why did it always seem as if seeking out company was normally the complete opposite to what she usually did? Yet, here she was, caring about a woman who Anya was genuinely attracted to.

Her head lifted and turned the moment that she heard the words that parted Fevris’s lip and a slow smirk curved her lips while she perked a brow in response. Her fingers twitched to release their hold upon each other, to brush through chocolate strands of hair before resting against the other woman’s flawless cheek. Oh Anya very much wanted to grip that hair, as she slanted her lips over the other’s and still, she maintained such a high amount of restraint that she didn’t know that she had and chuckled softly, only to bring her hands from behind her back and let them rest at her sides. The close quarters that they found themselves in, was intoxicating as she drew in Fevris’s scent which was like her own personal drug of choice.

It wasn’t until the Doctor mentioned the time closing in on nine, that they headed off to their destination and soon approached the restaurant's doors, that she felt Fevris’s arm reach around her waist, only to pull her body into the other. Anya had been taken by surprise, but she managed to catch the expression before it was displayed upon her face, as she had been trying to restrain herself from doing anything rash the entire time. She felt the eyes of the Doctor upon her and she moved to slide her own arm around the waist of the ash brown haired beauty beside her, while she leaned in slightly to the warmth. A feeling which felt alien to the redhead for some reason, a feeling that only reassured her that she did not have a lover trying to find her. For wouldn’t it feel a little more familiar to her if she did have a lover of some kind?

In any case, as her pale blue eyes looked up slightly into another’s blue set of eyes, she briefly felt as if for some reason that she was lying to this woman. This woman of whom she drew a thumb over her bare skin in a slow reassuring circle, before she smiled gently and angled her head towards the entrance, as to which they began to make their way inside. ”By the way, have I mentioned that you look incredibly gorgeous tonight? Although...” Anya paused as she glanced at the receptionist droid to quickly address it, ”We have a reservation for two under the name of Sinter.” She said and the droid extended its arm and led them through the dimly lit room towards a corner table. ”A waiter droid will be with you shortly,” It said as it set two menus upon the table and walked away. The redhead moved to peel herself away from Fevris only to pull the Doctor’s chair out for her. ”Although, you always look gorgeous.” She finally finished as she then moved to seat herself once her date had sat down.

Her hands picked up the menu, only for her gaze to settle upon the woman across from her, just as the server droid approached them to take their order for drinks. ”Whiskey, top shelf. Thanks.” Anya said as she waited for Feveris to order her drink before she smiled gently at her while the droid moved to retrieve their drinks, however, instead of looking at the menu, Anya slowly took in every action that she did and every detail of the other woman’s face. Almost as if she was trying to commit it to memory. Although, another slicing pain shot through her skull and she angled her head downwards for a moment while a hand released the menu, only to gently rub at her temple. It was a pain that she was beginning to get used to, a pain that happened from time to time and it seemed to consistently remind her that her memories seemed to refuse to return.

This only caused her to shake her head as she gently returned the menu to the table and she smiled. ”So, while you were buried in your… other project.” A project that she knew nothing of and it didn’t bother her one bit, ”I did a bit of research and got a lead into who I might actually be.” Slowly, a hand moved from the table as she pulled a bank card from the pocket of her pants and placed it upon the table, only to slide it over to Fevris. ”Apparently, I’m someone with a lot of money.”

The Doctor simply couldn't help the smile that stretched her lips at Anya's words, a pleasant feeling warming her chest and the urge to return every word with one of her own, or better yet, actions of her own sizzled within her into life. However, for the time being she'd have to keep a firm a hand on them. Patience was golden, and although right now she was very annoyed with herself for it, Fevris knew how to be patient and disciplined. The compliments in particular brought about a reaction in her, whereas usually she would have just shrugged them off as things one said during a date, coming from Anya she found herself delighted to hear them.

"Thank you," Her eyes were still trained on the redhaired lady as she pulled out the chair for her. When the waiter droid came by, she smiled at Anya's choice of drink, visibly pleased, and asked for the same thing. Whiskey was a late night companion that she had adopted back in her university years. She had always had a great tolerance to it, build up even more throughout her frequent but very measured exposure to alcohol. It also happened to be exactly what she had been drinking the night she met Anya.

Then, through sheer will power, Fevris set her blue eyes on the menu but the words and meanings were quite empty her mind. She wasn't a picky eater and having Anya's gaze on her was a powerful distraction that turned her smile into a smirk. A witty remark was in the tip of her tongue, interrupted only because she noticed Anya's grimace, resulting in a concerned expression of her own. Fevris knew these sudden pains had been a common occurrence on the last month, and she had found nothing that indicated they were dangerous, still she couldn't help but feel worry and to a degree, disappointment in herself for not being able to make them stop.

"They are happening more often..." She commented, both as a note to herself and asking her for confirmation. Maybe it meant she was closer to getting her memories back, if they were optimistic.

Her worry over the headaches was suddenly replaced by this new piece of information. As she put down the menu, her gaze set on the card that was being slid towards her. One of her hands reached over, apparently to pick up the card, but instead she caught Anya's hand in her own, allowing them to rest over the side of the table, before reaching for the thin bank card with her other. Fevris had recently decided that she liked contact, and subconsciously searched for it every chance she had.

An eyebrow arched in intrigue, she inspected the card before looking back at Anya. "Could they tell you anything else? Any contacts?" Maybe they had seen her visit the bank with someone else, or there was a shared account, or anything that could point them in the right direction. "It's a bit strange, isn't it?" If she was wealthy then there must have been a job, or an inheritance, something that had ties to other peoples, building blocs to piece up who she was. But if Anya had not mentioned them yet, then Fevris could only assume that...there wasn't.

The waiter droid then came back to pour their drinks and take their order for food. Fevris only shifted her attention momentarily to respond, and soon shifted her head to place her gaze back on Anya. For a split second, someone caught her eye on the outside of the restauran't front window. It seemed like a man, but the contact was too brief to warrant any second thoughts. Just in passing, the man was soon gone and the Doctor had a date she wanted to shower with attention.

”They do. I keep thinking that one day my memories will return, but it seems more like false hope at this point.” The woman said softly as she felt the hand that caught her pale hand within it. The feeling of warmth that emanated from the other hand was more than welcomed and it seemed to warm the appendage up as the hands rested on the side of the table. Meanwhile, the gorgeous ash brown haired woman, with those blue ever sharp eyes who never missed a minuet detail, picked up the card with her free hand. It was one of her many attractive personality traits that she enjoyed about the other woman, the woman who was now inspecting the card. ”The only thing that they could tell me in regards to the account, was that it was a physical deposit. There was no history of any transfers or electronic deposits of any kind; no regular payments and no other person listed on the account.” The woman shrugged as she took a sip of the whiskey.

Such thoughts were troubling and seemed to pound on the inside of her skull with a relentless force that made it feel as if her head was going to explode. Yet, she couldn’t help but mask the pain with a small reassuring smile as she placed her glass down upon the table. She reached over with her free hand to capture the hand that currently held the card, a card that seemed to only end up being a dead end to the ever present question of who she once was and she smoothed a thumb over the woman’s wrist in a comforting motion. For a moment, she saw Fevris’s eyes shift out the window and Anya felt a sense of something that she couldn't quite put her finger on, but her attention remained on the woman before her.

”Don’t worry, no matter what happens. Whether I get my memories back or not, I’m not leaving you.” Anya reassured her as her pale blue eyes remained focused upon Fevris. However, she felt something almost as if it was a gut feeling, that something wasn’t right, that there was potentially danger lurking nearby. It was impossible that she could even know that right? That perhaps she was overthinking or just simply being paranoid due to a lack of memories and yet she still couldn’t shake the feeling, even when the server droid came back over to take their order. A feeling that as she never took her eyes off of the woman who sat from across from her, that seemed to grow. It was a moment of warmth that she wanted to capture and hold on to, for the feeling of danger just could not be shaken; even though her naturally cold hands warmed from the touch of the stunning woman before her.

With great reluctance, she pulled her gaze from the woman and glanced at the droid for a moment as she pondered upon the menu that she had barely looked at. The redhead could remember that a steak had been mentioned and so she settled upon it. ”A steak, medium rare, with vegetables.” Her gaze returned back to Fevris quickly then as she listened to the woman order her food and she nodded her head. ”Thank you.” Anya said as Fevris finished ordering, but didn’t look back to the droid. Why? Well she did not want to miss a second of drinking in the vision before her.

Everything about her, always made her thank her lucky stars. Even though she had been shot in the process, she always thought that it was simply a way for her to find Fevris. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances, but she wouldn’t have changed any of it. For her lack of memories had given her the time to spend time and get to know the woman. Their time together had been precious and had not been wasted. Her only fear was, if she did gain her memories back, would she be the monster that she had originally feared? If so, would Fevris still want her to be around?

Fevris' eyes flickered towards Anya for a moment before returning to the card, as though she would be able to see something in it that no one else would be able to. Physical deposits weren't a common thing in today's galaxy, she could think of a number of reasons why someone would manage physical deposits only...but they all served the same purpose, untraceability. She had already stated that there was a hefty amount saved in the account, to move that amount of credits without wiring them from any form of account was unusual.

Her mind had gone down the rabbit hole, thought after thought connecting and disconnecting to always arrive at the same place: nothing. Fevris wanted to help Anya uncover what her memories currently kept hidden, but was unable to. This was something the woman's perseverance - and stubbornness - wasn't willing to accept easily. She was pulled from her thoughts when she felt Anya's hand reach for her own. A small smile tugged at her lips as she pushed her musings to the back of her mind to look at her date again, before putting the card down near Anya.

A small chuckle left the Doctor, amused at the fact that the redhaired woman was so aware of her own worries even if she tried to hide them. Still, the reassurance felt like a warm relief, "I'm glad to hear that, I've already grown used to making breakfast for two." Of course, there was still an inkling of worry within her. Fevris had come to care for her so much in such a short time, and it was something her cold and often detached heart was not used to. Fevris knew, for a fact, that if Anya's memory coming back meant that she would no longer be a part of her life, Fevris would accept it. If you care, let them go, right? But it would hurt.

Some minutes later the droid waiter arrived with their food, and the next two hours and a half or so was spent enjoying their meal, drinks and - most importantly - each other's company. It seemed as though with every second she spent looking at and listening to Anya she kept finding something that was either absolutely gorgeous or deeply fascinating, if not both. Eventually, it was time to leave the restaurant but Fevris was not quite ready yet to call it a night.

As soon as they were back on the street, the Doctor's hand reached for Anya's once more. "Would you like to go for a walk before we head back?" Avalonia's nightlife in this part of the city was something she found relaxing, few people coming and going, the darkness of the street barely kept at bay by the neon lights that rained down from the tall buildings, the soft humming of city noises filling the background. That was, without mentioning there was a park nearby which she was sure Anya would enjoy, many times had Fevris killed off the remaining hours of a night just sitting on a bench and looking as the sun rose behind the trees to pour its light over the lake.

She had no way of knowing there would be someone following them.

The dinner went smoothly and the conversation uninterrupted while drinks continued to be poured as the smile remained upon her lips. A deep yearning seemed to pull at her, almost as if the happiness was a strange feeling that the woman was unaccustomed to. One which seemed to cause the woman to become slightly troubled by. Yet, she kept such concerns to herself and made a mental note that she didn’t even seem to gain any kind of buzz from the alcohol that they drank. In fact, everything seemed to remain in sharp focus and never once did she slur her words. However, she kept such things to herself as she smiled and enjoyed the company of the beautiful woman that sat across from her. Yet the dinner came to an end all too soon, so she was more than happy to extend the night with a walk.

Anya felt the presence of danger strengthen the moment that they stepped outside and although she hesitated only slightly, the woman felt the hand that took up her own and her pale gaze shifted to view Fevris with a soft smile. With every step they took, the sense of danger followed with them and she couldn’t help but look up and around, only for her hand to tighten its grip upon the doctor’s hand. A sense of urgency began to pull at her thoughts and yet she couldn’t see anything, even with the neon lights that bathed the park in its glow. Why? Why did she feel like this? The night had been incredible and yet, for some reason, she felt as if there was danger lurking nearby. How and why, were questions that she did not understand.

While Fevris moved to sit upon the bench, another pain sliced through her skull as if a red hot bullet had been fired. Her grip upon the good doctor’s hand loosened only to grip at her head as the pain refused to give up. A small whimper parted her lips just as she felt the dark wall in her mind that she had been scratching at for so long, seemed to fracture only a little.

’Intercepted information... Assassin… Seek and eliminate threat…’

Suddenly, she felt dread as ice crawled it’s way into her veins and she lifted her head to look, yet her eyes seemed to remain unfocused. The woman could hear the traffic almost as if they were standing right next to it and yet almost instinctively she managed to filter the sounds out to the surrounding area. She could hear Fevris’s heartbeat and the heartbeats of the small animals that called the park home. Two other people were in the park and their heartbeats were closer together and slowly began to get softer as they moved away. Only one more heartbeat was close by. It was steady and then it hitched as her head angled towards the heartbeat’s location from behind the nearby tree. How? How could she hear this? Anya briefly wondered, but only for a moment as she heard the familiar sound of a weapon being unholstered.

A wince crossed her face as the tear in the wall seemed to grow and the pain tore through her head, but she couldn’t focus on the pain for the one that she cared for deeply, was in trouble. Eyes seemed to come back to focus as she grabbed Fevris and pulled her down to the ground behind the bench just as a plasma bullet whizzed over their heads where the other woman had been sitting only seconds before. Fragments continued to pour into her head as she looked for any kind of weapon around them and only found a golf ball sized rock with jagged edges. Slowly she looked to the woman beside her as fear sliced through her, for she realised that this was the moment she was about to discover who she was. Not only was she going to discover who she was, but Fevris would finally know too. Will she still want to know me, after my memories return? The woman asked herself, as she braced herself for what was to come next.

”Run,” Anya whispered as she listened for that steady heartbeat’s location and with one swift movement, she rose only to throw the rock at the target. A curse of words was flung while the red head leapt over the bench and hit the ground running as she soon followed close after the rock. The assassin dodged the rock, but didn’t recover soon enough to dodge the fist aimed for the stomach. When Anya felt her fist connect with the fleshy area, she heard the sudden exhale of air from lungs while the male attacker doubled over. Both hands moved to grip the head and with one quick snap, the neck broke from the force of the movement. However, as the body fell, so too did the last vestige of the wall that had blocked the flood of memories and it swept the woman under.

Her knees buckled and slammed into the ground, while the hands that had snapped a neck; gripped at her head, as the full force of memories slammed back into her. Almost like the snap of a rubber band snapping back into its natural shape, all the while she cried in pain as her skull felt as if it had a lightsaber piercing it through and through. The brutal force of the memories had pulled every sense that had focused upon the outside, inwards; leaving her body in a vulnerable state to any other intruder, as Anya knew that she was Anya no more.

No, she truly was the monster that they had feared that she was.

A slight frown creased her brow as Anya's hand abandoned her own to grasp at her own head. Fevris was used to seeing people in pain, it was her job. She had grown desensitized to it, or at least that is what she had believed until recently. Something felt wrong every time a wince came from the beautiful woman beside her, but this time this wrongness seemed to intensify. Fevris was not strong in the Force - much on the contrary, her presence in it was so insignificant it could might as well be non-existent. But she did not need the Force to have an innate skill to know when something was within the usual and when something wasn't.

She had been a second away from asking Anya if everything was alright when she felt herself being pulled down to the ground. Time seemed to slow as her deep blue eyes saw the plasma bolt ran past them, right where her head had been just a second ago. The gravel from the floor bit into her exposed forearms and her knees, protected only by the thin fabric of her pants, but pain was nothing but a muffled echo in her mind as adrenaline kicked in. Immediately her gaze searched for Anya, even though it had been her the one to just save her - the need to make sure she was alright became the first priority.

Before being a Doctor, Fevris had been a soldier - but this time the sudden coldness and focus that would usually overcome her when in danger would not come as easily. Not when someone she cared deeply about was in the middle of it all too. That bolt had been meant for her. When Anya told her to run, her first instinct was to refuse. She would not leave her behind. But there was something in Anya's gaze that told her it was the right thing to do. Something within her knew it would be okay, as though her subconscious already had the answer they had been searching for all this time.

So she ran, eyes quickly scanning her surroundings so that she could get enough coverage - except for the moments when they inevitably went back to the Anya, not being able to bare the thought of letting her out of her sight for more than a handful of seconds. Having seen the direction the other woman took, Fevris found her way around the park until she could reach that same destination from a different direction. Right on time to see Anya fall to her knees.

She had never run so fast in her life.

The dead body of the assassin was completely ignored, not even a glance speared at the gruesome sight. Fevris also allowed herself to fall into the ground, her hands immediately shooting forward to the sides of Anya's neck as her eyes frantically scanned the woman for injuries. Her agony-filled scream felt like a dagger to Fevris' chest - and for a second she experienced a feeling she had never known before, hopelessness. "I'm here, you are all right. Anya, you are all right - please." She had no equipment with her, there were no wounds she could treat.

One of her hands reached for her commlink, swiftly dialing the emergency frequency so that the pertinent authorities made their way there. Fevris was well aware of what had happened, of what Anya had done - and of the fact that the memories that had been kept away must have found their way back. Not anyone could pinpoint an assassin and break a grown man's neck like she had done, but right now the only thing Fevris cared about was making sure that she was safe.

Anya had protected her, she would do the same.

Over one hundred years of memories slammed into the woman and although she wanted nothing more than to put it all back in the box, she knew that she couldn’t. For she would constantly be looking for that box and would inevitably find it. The reason? Well, the reason was soon beside her, trying to reassure her as the memories tried with all their night to pull her under. Yet, the woman managed to stay awake and the screams died down, while red locks fell to create a curtain around her face.

Anya. No. Shalita had returned and for a moment she felt a twinge of regret that she had been pulling on that thread. As Shalita had been a lone wolf. An assassin and shapeshifter that moved from planet to planet and never settled down. Shalita deceived and killed. The woman didn’t have a place to call home, even though she had a family and was even a night sister of the Solanaceae. She never truly developed emotional bonds with people and struggled with them on a constant basis. The woman knew what they contained and she did the minimum to maintain a sibling connection. In fact she had avoided connections, due to her line of work and never wanted to put anyone that she did connect with, in danger. It was why she did everything alone, with the exception of working with others for a single mission.

Yet. Here she was. Another assassin dead and a woman who, even though she had gotten her memories back, she still loved. With the silence that fell upon her lips, the woman took a moment to breathe. She slowly lifted her head and with her free hand, she cradled the woman’s neck while her thumb guided Fevris’s chin up so then she could cover those gorgeous lips with her own. The kiss was long and slow as she lingered within the moment for only a minute. Yet that minute felt long and was only broken by the distant sound of sirens in the distance. Sirens that signified danger to the assassin and although her cover was no longer intact, there was only one person who would ever know that Anya Sinter is Shalita Verd. It was a fact that she wanted to keep between the two.

Slowly she pulled her lips from Fevris’s and instead of pale blue eyes, the shade of colour had shifted slightly to icy blue. ”I cannot be here for when those sirens arrive, Fevris.” The assassin said softly as her free hand rose to slowly tuck some of the Doctor’s hair behind her ear in a gentle touch. One which ended up having the woman gently caress her cheek. ”I remember everything and I cannot explain here. I’ll meet you back at your place, but for now I have to vacate this area. Anya Sinter cannot be on the government’s radar. It’s just the way it is.” With having spoken those words, the woman rose up from her position upon the ground and even helped Fevris up, should she require it. However, her gaze lingered upon the woman as if she was trying to commit every inch of her to memory. Memory which she hoped to never lose again.

To say that it was hard to pull away from the Doctor was an understatement, but her hands released their hold upon Fevris and she took a few steps away from her. Yet, she lingered just on the edge of clearing, before she turned and drew upon the force to cloak her being from sight. It was almost like watching a cloak of invisibility being thrown over a person as she walked away from the scene that spelled the death of her amnesia..

There had never been such clear, visible emotion behind the blue eyes of the Doctor. Expressiveness did not come easy to her, but now all the care, the love she felt for the woman before her - and the fear that whatever was happening was something she could not stop were as clear as crystal. As Anya's scream died down, the fear began to recede but it was only when she felt the woman's hand against her neck that Fevris knew she would be fine. Nothing, not the corpse nor the bleeding scratches nor the sound of the incoming sirens mattered to her in that instant. She only had eyes for the woman before her.

The kiss they shared felt long and all too short at the same time, the indescribable feeling of the woman's lips against her own washing away the chaos that had wrecked through her mind and centering her thoughts on the one thing that mattered to her like nothing else did. As they drew apart, Fevris hand reached for the one that rested against her own cheek, holding it there for a second before placing a small kiss on the inside of Anya's wrist and then letting go - as if she was unbothered by the fact that those hands had just taken a life.

Clarity dawning in once again, questions began flooding Fevris' mind like they never had before. But this was not the moment for it - so she forced herself to cut that train of thought shot to shift her focus to the matter at hand. "Go. M.A.R.I.S will wipe out the security data once you are inside." She stood up, making no effort at realigning her dirtied and disheveled clothes - the outfit was not one that took kindly to the falls and the sudden action. Fevris only had a couple of minutes until the police arrived. She had to come up with a plan, fast.

-----

As expected, she had been taken in for questioning. The officers had treated her kindly, even if she was forced to spend hours on end within a small room to answer their questions. She had been made to feel comfortable, and luckily for her, it was not necessary to fake a state of shock and confusion. Although, unlike what the policemen believed, hers did not stem from the fact that a hit had been called on her but because the mystery that was the woman she loved had never seem to be so within her grasp and at the same time obscure as right now. She wanted nothing more than go back to her and know the truth.

If she is even still there. The thought intruded her mind and a pang of pain clenched her chest. Fevris shook the thought away, she had said she would be waiting.

The story she had come up with was solid, she had made sure no loose ends were left for the investigators to pursue - even if they didn't have any reason to doubt her word. She had parted with her friend soon after entering the park when she decided to stay for a while to enjoy a moment to herself. The first shot had missed and she attempted to escape. Then she heard struggling and the sound of something dropping to the floor, no more shots. When she backtracked - the hitman was dead on the floor. She saw nothing else.

The fact that the hitman was already dead luckily meant the investigation effort wouldn't be focused on the precise events of the night, but rather on the man himself and on trying to track down who had ordered the hit. This story certainly wouldn't end tonight, if someone had gone to the lengths of putting an assassin after her there was no reason to believe they wouldn't do it again.

After everything was said and done, an escort had taken her back to Noxis Tower, she ignored the looks of concern and worry of the people that were still working there and lost not a second in going up to her apartment. M.A.R.I.S was silent. The doors opened and she walked into the wide leaving room, eyes immediately looking for one person and one person alone.

Her steps had given pause, as she turned to view the scene from the shadows. She watched the proceedings that went down and the woman felt a twinge of regret that she had pulled the other woman into this. Granted. Shalita had done so unknowingly but still, this had not been the plan. None of this had played out like she had originally planned. It was supposed to be a recon and alias installation mission, one that had turned into something else. While she watched the officers take the Doctor in for questioning, her footsteps turned away from the scene and she made her way back to Noxis tower as her thoughts continued to shift back and forth upon the situation that she had suddenly found herself in. A situation that she had avoided getting into for quite some time. Now that it had happened, the woman would have to figure something out, because there was no way that she was letting Fevris go without a fight.

As Shalita finally arrived at the Doctor’s apartment that she had been living in for a time, soft words greeted M.A.R.I.S as she would shed the Force cloak that she had worn, but her mind was focused as the shift began to take place. Red hair inevitably shorted and darkened until it was black with white ends and her stature shifted only slightly to a shorter build so then the clothes no longer fit snugly upon her frame. However, the woman didn’t bother to change as she crossed over to the sofa and quietly moved to seat herself down upon it. She remained quiet for some time, not even bothering to talk to M.A.R.I.S. She was quietly preparing herself for the storm that would likely walk through the doors, for she couldn’t blame Fevris. Not in the slightest.

The only problem was, how was she going to explain the situation?

It seemed as if time had moved exceptionally quick. As if the hours that Fevris had spent at the station, had been only mere minutes, when in fact it had been five hours. Time usually stood still, as her mind was like the eye of a tornado. Still, while the storm would rage on. Such a skill had been harnessed over time and although the woman felt as if she should be panicking, she was the opposite. Shalita knew that she should fear the possible outcomes and yet she also knew that whatever was going to happen, would happen and she would just have to adjust and move on. If the Doctor saw to it to never see her again, then she would have to simply use the lesson as a reminder to never get involved. Although granted, she had been suffering from amnesia. A fact that she couldn’t forget.

When the other woman walked into the room, the assassin rose from her seated position with a look of calm upon her face. She didn’t move, not yet anyway. It was done on purpose so then Fevris could see her physical appearance for what it truly was and also note that she was still wearing the same clothes from before. Clothes that Anya has been wearing. ”It’s me. Anya..” Shalita said softly so as not to spook her. ”Well. Not really Anya. Same soul, but different face and a restored memory bank.” The woman said as she slowly moved towards the Doctor with slow and measured steps. ”My real name is Shalita Verd. Anya Sinter is… Well, an alias. Or as I call them, an alternate personality.” Slowly she came to a stop about a meter away from the woman, so as to give her space to react however she wanted to. ”I’m not at all sure as to where I should begin with the explanation, so feel free to ask any questions. I’m an open book...” Shalita paused as she angled her head downwards for a moment before looking back up to the woman who stood before her. ”Well… Only for you anyway.”.

Her deep blue eyes zoned in on movement immediately, a woman getting up from the couch - same place Anya had always favored while in the living room. She took in her appearance, carefully going over every detail, as though there was a certain cautiousness to her. But in truth, there wasn't. Even though this person did not look like the woman she loved, something within Fevris simply knew that they were one and the same. That instinct was confirmed when her eyes finally met Anya's, and that clearer shade of steel blue was the same she had seen appear on the redhead's gaze moments before she departed the crime scene a couple of hours ago.

For the first time in a long time, if not ever, Fevris was speechless. No words could quite cover what she was feeling at this moment, nor was any combination of them enough to ask the questions she wanted to make, the doubts she had. She listened as Anya - no, Shalita - began to speak. Fevris stayed like that, immobile, the gears of her mind running at full speed easily visible behind her gaze. Confusion, disbelief, and shock shined behind the cerulean gaze; but also certainty.

As soon as the Shalita was done talking, Fevris closed the space between them in one long stride - her hand's reaching out towards the woman's cheeks and placing her own lips upon hers, before moving away and allowing her arms to surround Shalita's shoulders, bringing her against her in a hug. Of all the things she wanted to clarity on, Shalita knowing that her feelings were unchanged was the first of them all. "Shalita Verd...I like it." Her voice was less firm than it usually was, a little overwhelmed by the moment.

They were both here, they were both safe. Learning the truth was daunting, but right now she had asked herself if there was anything that could change the way she felt - and there wasn't. That truth alone was more important than any other.

Slowly, she let go of her before moving towards a nearing table, using that brief moment to get her thoughts in order. She grabbed a bottle of whiskey and no glasses. Once she was next to her again, she kicked her shoes off discarding them on the floor and sat down on the couch, crossing her legs. Her eyes were on Shalita as she waited for her to do the same. Fevris opened the bottle and took a swing of it, before passing it over to the woman.

"Shalita Verd," She repeated, getting used to the new name. Her eyes fell to the couch for an instant before returning to Shalita's icy ones. "Changeling, clawdite, gurlanin...shi'ido?" It was clear to her that the woman was a shape-shifter. What was left to know was exactly which kind. Based on the fact that her non-human genome had not come up in any of the blood tests, Fevris was leaning towards the last of the options given - but it wouldn't be the first nor the last time that a shapeshifter managed to evade identification through blood tests.

There was a moment of silence as she considered making a second question - one that seemed even more important than her species. But did she really want to know?

"Why did you need an alias?"

The woman watched as the range of emotions seemed to flash within those pools of cerulean and she almost expected rage to be a part of that spectrum. If there had been rage, she couldn’t blame the woman and was why Shalita acted with caution. The fact that she was dropping a big bombshell on her that could almost seem deceitful if not for the fact that she had suffered actual amnesia, did warrant the emotion of rage and she wouldn’t hold it against her. Yet, Fevris did something that she didn’t expect. She closed the space between them and she felt the hand upon her cheek, followed by the feel of her lips upon her own in a fleeting kiss. Yet she didn’t mind as the gap remained nonexistent for a little longer while the woman she was falling hard for, kept her arms around the dark haired woman.

Slowly, her arms wrapped around the other’s waist, in a light embrace. That was until the brilliant doctor pulled away. Her voice didn’t seem firm or sure like it usually was and Shalita decided that she didn’t like it. Yet, as she turned to follow the doctor’s movements, she couldn’t blame her as she reached for the whiskey bottle and moved towards the couch after removing her shoes. Once she was settled, the assassin followed suit. Except she only removed her shoes and sat down beside Fevris as she lifted her bare feet to rest them upon the coffee table before them.

As soon as her feet found their way upon the coffee table, Shalita found that a whiskey bottle was being offered and she only took a small swig before handing it back to the woman beside her. Slowly she lifted her arm as stretched it out over the top of the couch, so then she could tuck Fevris into her side, almost as if she was trying to protect her from the truth of the questions that the doctor was about to ask. Questions that soon managed to find their way to her lips after she had repeated her name for the second time. Shalita admittedly enjoyed the sound of her name upon Fevris’s lips, but kept that to herself for the time being as she simply listened while icy blue watched every movement made by the other woman.

Shalita didn’t speak, not right away, but when she did, it started off with a sigh upon her lips. ”I’m a shi’ido and I’m 160 years old. You’re dating a dinosaur.” She said with a soft chuckle upon her lips before her demeanour returned to the seriousness of the situation at hand. ”I require an alias, because it is true. I am a monster. I’m an assassin for Clan Verd and CIS. Actually, Clan Verd’s name constantly changes and I honestly expect my brother to change it to something else half the time. Another smile caressed her lips as she attempted to keep things a little on the light side, but continued on. ”I’m required to have multiple aliases all throughout space as we know it. I was in the process of setting up this alias, when intelligence was intercepted.”

Her gaze shifted away from Fevris while her jaw tensed ever so slightly at the thought that, if she hadn’t been where she had been, then the gorgeous woman beside her might not still be alive. ”An assassination order had been issued, due to some information of a potentially groundbreaking project that you were working on, had been leaked. I don’t know the specifics of what has been leaked, but all the same. I was close, so I checked it out. A battle ensued between me and the dead guy back at the park. Somehow and this still baffles me, he managed to one up me. Which was why I stumbled into the bar, bleeding to death with no memory.”

Slowly, her gaze shifted to the woman beside her and she lifted a pale hand to lightly brush the back of it against the woman’s cheek. ”My blood family is dead, but my adoptive one is very much alive and because I’m an assassin they won’t ever come looking for me. Even if I do go missing, because they won’t even notice. I’m a shadow and I live in the darkness that surrounds us. Even if you look me up in the CIS database, there isn’t much in there except my adoptive family connection and the fact that I’m a Nightsister of Solanaceae.” A pause and a shrug followed those words as she added, ”Besides, I’m sure that they don’t even miss me.” Shalita said softly as she flipped her hand to lightly trail her thumb along the doctor’s jawline, while her gaze remained focused upon Fevris’s every move..

She listened, each word spoken by Shalita holding every ounce of focus that Fevris could offer. Each analyzed and saved within her own memory into a single moment she would never forget. The light jest had earned a slight smile from the Doctor, finding it funny even if in truth she did not mind nor care about how old she was. It didn't make a difference to her. It was the following part that etched a slight frown onto the Doctor's brow.

An assassin.

The woman she loved was a killer for hire. It was not what Fevris had been expecting, perhaps a commando or some other type of soldier. This had come as a shock, and she processed it silently - albeit not moving away from the woman's side. Fevris had been in the army before choosing a life of science and politics, she knew what it meant to serve and protect, and by the way Shalita announced her...profession, that seemed to be her purpose. She had saved her life. If it was not for her, Fevris would be dead right now. She would have been dead for months.

"You aren't a monster, Shal." She did not think twice about the nickname that seemed to have come naturally to her, moving and putting a bit of distance between them just so that she could lock her eyes with the Verd's own. Fevris had been caught with her guard down by this information, she was surprised, perhaps even worried...but not for a second had she seen the woman besides her in that light. She didn't think she was able to.

Fevris felt as though a heavy weight settled on her stomach as the shape-shifter spoke of her family. In a way, she could understand what she meant, but on the other hand she couldn't shake the wrongness that it inspired. Fevris couldn't even think of not following her trail if she were to disappear, specially for so long. Assassin or not. Nor did she enjoy hearing her say that she wasn't missed. For a moment, the Doctor wondered if this was the truth, or if Shalita perceived it to be such. She did not know her family, and would not rush a judgement.

She tilted her head towards the shi'ido's touch, relishing the feel of her skin against her own. "I am...surprised, I won't lie to you about it." She accepted her, love would leave no room for any other option. Shal hadn't been here after her nor the First Order. Yes, setting up her fake identity was illegal and the loyal heart that beat within the Doctor's chest felt worry at the prospect of covering for it...but it simply couldn't begin to imagine the pain that not doing so would entail. "But I trust you, and I care about you in ways I didn't think I could anymore." Not after the Fall.

"I may have fallen in love with you as Anya, but its still you."

The first words out of Fevris’s lips had the assassin lifting a brow. It wasn’t the fact that the doctor had denied the words of the assassin being a monster, but the nickname. No one had even deemed to give her a nickname before. She had always been known as Shalita, the assassin, the shadow, aunty or sister to the Vicelord. The nickname sounded funny, but it also sounded right as it was spoken by Fevris and she angled her head slightly as she quietly listened. Were nicknames only given to those who had a true connection? Did being given a nickname meant that you were truly accepted into the fold? If that was so, then had she lived in the shadows all along and failed to truly be family to those who were family? Could she no longer embrace the role of a family member due to fear of loss; as she had already lost her blood family already?

A hand had shifted to the pockets of her pants, but she didn’t find the trinket that she had once kept to remind herself to not develop connections that could weaken her defenses. Yet she had developed connections. One was for a friend who seemed lost and she had given that trinket to him. Another was to the Nightmother and she wondered if the woman even sensed her disappearance. Last one was her brother, one who sent the occasional family invite from time to time. Funnily enough, it had been the last CIS gathering that she had attended before leaving for Dosuun. Shalita hardly imagined that Isley would ever spare a thought towards his adoptive sister. Especially considering the fact that his hands were probably tied up with the dealings of CIS and his many offspring; adopted and full blooded ones. From the look of their last Verd gathering, trouble was brewing for him.

No. Shalita was certain in the fact that she truly wasn’t missed.

Although, even as those thoughts passed through her mind, Fevris said something that she never thought was even possible. Someone could have fallen in love with the Assassin? An assassin that had spilled so much blood and brought misery to the families of her victims? Someone could have fallen in love with her? A shi’ido that barely had any connection to even those that she considered family?

Such a notion caused the pale woman to freeze and it seemed as if she wasn’t breathing, while she processed the words that had been given voice to. Was she dreaming? No. She couldn’t be, because underneath her cool touch, the assassin could feel the warmth that radiated from the woman’s skin and it was then that she realised why it sounded as if she was dreaming. For not once did she expect that anyone could fall in love with someone who was considered to be nothing more than a shadow and yet someone was now professing such a thing. They trusted, cared and may have fallen in love with the assassin. Such a thing made her wonder if she should be creating distance between herself and the vision beside her and yet, deep down she felt selfish. Selfish enough to not pull away, but lay claim to the other woman and relish in the feelings that had always been out of her reach until now.

Slowly, her hand fell away from the comforting warmth of Fevris’s skin for a moment, as her jaw tensed just slightly. Shalita wrestled with the fact that she could potentially be putting the doctor in harm’s way if she continued to pursue it. The doctor wasn’t even in the CIS where her family and colleagues could protect her if the assassin couldn’t return in time. Would The First Order be able to keep the Doctor safe? If Shalita hadn’t sought out the intercepted transmission, then would Fevris have been killed instead of her getting shot and seriously wounded?

”I may have fallen in love with you when I had no memory...” Shalita began as she pulled her feet from the coffee so then she could twist around and face Fevris. ”But now even with my memory and every instinct telling me that it's a bad idea- I want to tell you that I do love you. I want you in my life and no matter the cost, I’d gladly give my life to keep you and that beautiful brain of yours alive.” it was a declaration that she never expected to make, but one she did, knowing that even if it was the only connection that she ever got to truly know; then she would die knowing that she had the capacity to fall in love. Even as a shadow of the CIS..

Fevris could see the slight tension on the woman besides her, and how her mind began running through a series of thoughts. The Doctor knew that look very well - she saw it reflected back at herself in every mirror, or picture, or holovid in which she was present. It summoned a tension to begin tightening around her chest. Love was a funny thing. Objectively, when giving her mind authority, Fevris found no reason to fear whatever it was that Shalita was thinking. She had faith and certainty of their connection. And yet her heart refused to not feel apprehension at the mere thought that the words she had just shared were not well received.

That perhaps it was foolish to think that just because what had happened had not changed Fevris' feelings - this did not mean Shalita's had remained unchanged too.

Her unwarranted worry was soon put to rest when the velvet voice of the beauty besides her finally broke through the silence. Fevris had never been one for big demonstrations, feeling were not her preferred language. And yet they were the only one that made any sense to her right now. As Shalita turned to face her, the Doctor set the bottle of whiskey she had been cradling in her hands aside and moved in even closer the woman, wrapping her arms around her as she made herself comfortable against her side.

"We are in it together now, we'll work it out." It was a promise. Just as Shalita feared she might have drawn Fevris in into a life of shadows and dangers, Fevris could say the same. After all, the hit had been called on her. There was nothing stopping her enemies from targeting Shalita too - and Fevris refused to think about the beautiful woman stumbling once more on a deserted street in the dark hours of the night, bleeding out and with no one to help. No, she just wouldn't be able to bare something like that.

It would take her some time to get used to the idea. Shal's...profession was one that would never stop being dangerous. But here she was now, and Fevris knew to trust her skill. An assassin, a force-user. She could definitely watch out for herself, but even so the Doctor would have to accept that worrying would now be another of her demons. At least this one she would welcome with open arms. "Will you have to go back?" It seemed the next logical question to make.

A part of Fevris wanted her to say no, but hoping for that was simply fooling herself into disilussion. Neither would be able to stay cooped up in the little haven that was this apartment forever. It just wasn't the way in which the galaxy worked. "To your family...or your missions." One of her hands intertwined with Shal's own, cerulean eyes gazing upon icy blue ones.

Did she have to go back?

A sigh parted her lips as she felt the arms of the light haired woman around her being and the warmth of her body that was pressed into her side. Slowly. She wrapped her arms around Fevris so then she could simply enjoy the physical touch. The feelings that she felt were strange. Alien even. As no one had dared to touch the assassin in many years and it wasn’t as if she had craved it either. For ever since she had broken her chains, touch had been the first thing that she had recoiled from and had worn gloves even in social settings to avoid skin touching skin. However, here she was, cradling the woman beside her and enjoying the sensations that it brought about.

Warmth and comfort and a sense of belonging that she didn’t even know that she had been craving for until now. Her restless soul had seen to the fact that she had always been on the move. Always keeping a distance from physical and emotional connections. However, there was a fact that she would never admit to the woman in her arms. The reason that the other assassin had gotten to one up Shalita, was a basic one. One she had never thought would ever happen. She had gotten distracted by the blonde haired doctor as she had walked on by. That small window of distraction had been the one thing that had allowed the other assassin the chance to almost kill her.

Even while under the influence of amnesia, the basic need to avoid touch and social interaction had been prevalent. Yet, she had also felt something else, the pull towards Fevris and Shalita had answered it. Craved and wanted it.

Slowly, the assassin dipped her head as she dropped a soft kiss upon the Doctor’s head. ”No. I don’t. The benefits of being a Vicelord’s sister, is that I don’t have to do anything that I don’t want to do.” Shalita said softly as she lifted a hand to stroke it through the silken locks. ”However, while I don’t have a home of my own, I do have to check my communications line in case someone has tried to get in contact with me. Although I hardly think that anyone has even tried to contact me. As I said, I’m a shadow and no one looks for a shadow. “ She said as her hand slowly cupped the curve of the woman’s slender throat.

”The moment that I don’t have to do something, I’m all yours.” She said softly as she lifted her arm from the woman’s body and used it to tilt the woman’s head so then she could slowly place her lips over the Doctor’s own in a slow kiss. Shalita couldn’t quite get enough, not yet anyway and she felt that even if she had another one hundred years, the woman would still be drunk upon the taste of Fevris. Which spoke a lot about the attraction that she felt. For the assassin hadn’t been able to get drunk in quite a long time. For her resistance to alcohol had grown and solidified. Yet, she was drunk now; drunk on a new substance that made her heart beat quickly. One that made her feel as if the force was singing to her. Yet even as the hand that had cupped the doctor’s slender neck lifted to thread through silken locks, she pressed up against Fevris as she craved the warmth of the other.

Such a need seemed to pump and warm the veins of what was naturally a cold woman. A cold woman who for once craved something that she never thought that she would ever crave. Touch. She never even thought that she would feel love or care, but here she was, pulling Fevris in as if she couldn’t get enough. As if she had been starved of it all and was just now being fed the things that had always been out of her grasp until now..

A bright smile stretched the Doctor's lips as she settled in the arms of the shi'ido. Now, past the tension and her fears laid to rest, the whole situation seemed to come across as funny within her mind. All those weeks, the months they had spent trying to piece together her past. The endless possibilities they had considered and yet the reality of things had eluded every single one of their attempts to shed light on what her memory loss had hidden. "Well, at least I have no doubts you are damn good at your job." Not only had Shal managed to protect her, besting another assassin, she had done a flawless job at setting up Anya's identity.

It would be hard to adjust to this new reality, but she knew she would manage to do it. Fevris could do that and more for Shalita.

Fevris relished the woman's touch, long lashes falling closed together as she focused on the feeling. The Doctor was someone who felt comfortable in her own skin, she had no problem powering through days and weeks and months on her own and enjoying her own company. Fiercely independent, able to rely in herself. But that did not mean she didn't enjoy the company, and it was only now that she had someone to share affection with that she realized how much she had missed it. In the end, Fevris was only human and everyone needs people.

She offered no resistance when she felt the guiding touch on her chin that led to her head tilting backwards so that their lips could meet. This felt right, how things should be. There was no difficulty not worth weathering for this - Fevris simply grew more and more convinced of that with every passing moment spent in Shalita's presence.

It was only when breath had begun to fall short that the Doctor broke apart, still remaining impossibly close for there was no way she would willingly separate herself from those lips more than was strictly necessary. It was then that a thought crossed her mind, curving the corners of her lips again while her dark blue eyes carefully went over every single feature in the gorgeous woman's face. "As you know, Lady Natasi is to become our Supreme Leader," It had been all over the news, there was not a corner in imperial space that had not heard about the return - or more specifically, resurrection - of the ex-Grand Moff. "There will be a Coronation Ball soon, several authorities and figures from all across the galaxy have been invited." Indeed, that would include Shalita's own brother - the Vicelord of the Confederacy.

"How do you feel about a night of pretty dresses, posh music and political and corporate sweet talk?"
