DESCRIPTION
A rather diabolical creation of the Corporate Sector Authority, the Slam Hounds act as both guard and mobile minefield. Often set to patrol or lay hidden in wait, the Slam Hound will alert other Hounds and its security network of intruders with a burst transmission before swiftly charging down the hostile and detonating its carried explosive charges. Contrary to its name, the droid will often not make contact with its target, instead detonating within its chosen blast radius. The droids are programmed to stay spread out to avoid fratricide, but will coordinate to pile in on targets if set to attack or one of sufficient threat is detected that a single Hound might not get through.

When attacking, the Slam Hound will dip and weave, using its small size and agility to its advantage so as to not be easily hit by blaster fire. However even if the sensor-packed head is destroyed, the droid will continue on to its target’s last known position and detonate there if nearby units can’t guide it in. Packing a dual charge of a Class A Thermal Detonator and armor piercing warhead, the Hound is well suited to attacking groups of organics or heavy vehicles, often disrupting systems even when a hard kill is denied.

Slam Hounds have also been proven capable of following a suspect’s chemical trail left by footsteps or odor in the air after they escape, tracking them to their hideout. CorSec and Police have used this to their advantage, often arriving to find a criminal waiting stunned and ready for processing, when the Hound is equipped with the optional shock probe that is. This non-lethal option also proves capable inside facilities and urban settings that don’t take explosions very well. Away from built-up areas, the droids have proven just as effective at tracking down disruptive wildlife while using foliage as cover, proving to be just as adaptable as the dogs they mimic.
