Accessibility

Access to the Sky Trenches of Endor is heavily regulated and protected due to its designation as a military installation and planetary defense system. Each access point, from the reinforced carbonite nanofiber turbolift tubes that descend from the individual AF-M902 and AO-M902 installations; to the entrance of the various Sky Ramps, is heavily patrolled and guarded by Alliance Troopers. Additional security measures are also present to prevent access from the specialized tractor pins that assist in maintaining the altitude and position of the individual AF-M902 and AO-M902 installations.

Description

The Sky Trenches of Endor are a series of AF-M902 Floating Fortresses and AO-M902 Floating Outposts that are interconnected with a series of Sky Ramps and Sky Bridges to form a formidable atmospheric planetary defense structure. The primary focal point is a large Floating Fortress ‘Endor Station’ around which the whole formation was developed. These additional modules include further AF-M902 Floating Fortresses, AO-M902 Floating Outposts, and basic defensive weapon emplacements.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Endor Station - Located at the center point of the formation; Endor Station serves as the primary command headquarters of the Sky Trenches of Endor. The central room of the station contains a Holo-tank as well as additional holoprojectors displaying a detailed, three-dimensional view of the battlefield with the system being sophisticated enough to display individual troop movements. Endor Station therefore houses the bulk of the Command Staff overseeing the fortification, preparation, and defense of Endor from the Sith Order. Point Bright Tree - Located at the extreme right flank of the Sky Trenches; Point Bright Tree serves as an early warning outpost and sits at a slightly higher altitude than the rest of the Sky Trenches. This specific AO-M902 is equipped with more sophisticated scanner, and sensor arrays as well as more powerful communication systems to assist in keeping Alliance personnel on the ground in contact with Fleet Elements in orbit. Point Bright Tree also houses a detachment of Alliance Marines as additional defense due to the importance of this particular outpost. Sky Ramp of Endor - Inspired by and designed after the ancient Sky Ramp of Iziz on Onderon, the Sky Ramp of Endor is the primary access point to the entirety of the Sky Trenches of Endor. Due to the critical nature of the Sky Ramp, it contains additional defensive measures including air defense towers, military checkpoints with force shields, and garrisoned alliance troopers to prevent unauthorized access to the Sky Trenches. Alliance Compound - Situated at the base of the Sky Ramp of Endor, the Alliance Compound is the primary defensive structure that protects access to the Sky Trenches. The compound sits at the rear of a vast ground-side trench and defensive network that provides additional support to the above Sky Trenches. It consists of a defensive wall protected by a reinforced trench network, defensive towers, and a force shield gate, while the interior consists of military barracks, a command bunker, and a shield generator bunker. Jedi Outpost - The Jedi had a presence on Endor during the first Galactic Alliance when it refurbished an old Imperial Base before abandoning the location for the Transitory Mists of the Hapes Cluster. With the construction of the Sky Trenches to protect Endor, and the need to establish a base of operations in the area, an AO-M902 Floating Outpost was converted to provide the Jedi with a new Outpost that would operate under their direct discretion. This Outpost contains basic amenities, including individual rooms, medical facilities, workshops, training rooms, and a mediation chamber.

SECURITY - MAXIMUM

The Sky Trenches of Endor are an important piece of military infrastructure for the Galactic Alliance. As the system is constructed of individual modules that have been connected into a singular cohesive whole, each piece maintains its defensive capabilities; which can be seen in the various individual designs of the stations - such as the SB-920 Laser Cannons and Deflector Shield Generators of the Floating Fortresses and Floating Outposts. Due to the importance of the system to the Galactic Alliance in defending Endor, additional defensive capabilities were installed throughout the system, specifically along the Sky Ramp and Ski Bridges that provide connections between the various Fortresses and Outposts. These additional defenses consist of weapon emplacements along the sky bridges - whose overhead covering has been removed to provide a field of view above. Likewise, the primary Sky Ramp has been reinforced with Air Defense Towers, and access points to the Sky Ramp and the individual Turbolift Tubes have been reinforced with additional entrenched emplacements on the ground. The primary garrison of the Sky Trenches is comprised of Alliance Troopers, Pathfinders, and a contingent of Alliance Marines.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Construction on the Sky Trenches of Endor began upon the discovery that the Sith Order had planned a new series of Invasions into Alliance Space, targeting Endor as the primary Invasion vector. Each modular component that makes up the whole of the Sky Trenches was designed and manufactured by Aether Systems in individual stages to ensure that necessary materials were available according to a strict timetable that dominated the individual stages of production. The first stages of construction on the Sky Trenches began with the production of the Sky Ramp to provide the initial layout and planned location of the Floating Fortresses and Outposts. Upon completion of the Sky Ramp, the AF-M902 Floating Fortresses were carefully towed into position and anchored in place with a series of tractor pins. With this second stage completed, work continued as the AO-M902 Floating Outposts were towed into their position and also anchored into their final placement. The final stage of construction consisted of linking the individual Floating Fortresses and Floating Observations with sky bridges that had been modified with open tops to provide a view of the area overhead, with its completion marking it as a crucial piece of military infrastructure to the Galactic Alliance. The Sky Trenches of Endor have since become garrisoned by the Galactic Alliance Army, with a large contingent being relocated to the Forest Moon of Endor in preparation for the eventual Sith Invasion. Working in tandem with their planetary forces, a contingent of Galactic Alliance Marines have also been garrisoned in the Sky Trenches. Due to its importance to the Galactic Alliance, construction of the Sky Trenches remained a closely guarded secret, and access to the area remained restricted to prevent it from being sabotaged before the Sith Invasion of Endor.
