Skist Obsidian is a unique form of Obsidian that naturally occurs near The Rupture. It differs from natural Obsidian due to the presence of Spinel instead of Silicon Dioxide. Spinel forms around the upper mantle of geologically active planets and is naturally a weak, brittle stone. However, artificial Spinel created through Flame-Fusion exhibits high-pressure resistance. A process similar to Flame-Fusion occurs at The Rupture due it being open to Oxygen and thus produces .. Natural Synthetic Spinel. Skist Spinel.
This creates Skist Obsidian. Due to the presence of Skist Spinel, Skist Obsidian is naturally a hue of Red instead of pure black and can be refined and moulded into either a Gem or a component of ION/EMP, High-Pressure Resistant Armour, such as Mauda's Armour
