The end of the Second Great Hyperspace War with the Brotherhood of the Maw had promised peace and prosperity for the Galactic Alliance as it moved into its's Golden Renaissance Era. However such eras of peace rarely last long enough as conflict was quickly brewing with the Trade Federation and the Skakoan Government. The Galactic Alliance had violated the sovereignty of Skako by sending Alliance Marshals to arrest the Political Leadership based on rumors and had been promptly sentenced to 'community service' for their transgressions against the skakoan people. However the Trade Federation was no fool in the fact that the Alliance had utilized its powers to blockade planets such as Byss a along time ago and thus the need for additional defenses came to the forefront. There had been contracts with the New Imperial Order turned Empire before their collapse as the Empire Branch of the Trade Federation promised to send two recently commissioned star destroyers to aid their brethren in the defense of Skako from Alliance Invaders.

The Skako Convoy Fleet had taken the journey underneath the Command of Captain Pok Nargg commanding the Lucrehulk-Class Battleship 'Lok Durd' in order to bring these star destroyers into the fold. However the Alliance
Strategic Intelligence Agency had caught wind of this convoy through covert informants scattered across the Hydian Way and promptly sent a detachment to stop this convoy before it reached the safety of the Trade Federation's Strongholds.

The Alliance High Command dispatching the Anaxes Fleet underneath Zahara Myneto Zahara Myneto to intercept them over the planet of Raithal

In Orbit over Raithal...

The lights of hyperspace began to dim as the Tambor Pattern Lucrehulk Class Battleship 'Lok Durd' exited hyperspace over the world of Raithal along with the rest of the 1st Skakoan Convoy Fleet. In the middle of the main formation lay two Zelleon Class A Star Destroyers recently finished in the Drydocks of the Empire before their collapse at the turn of the century. Their combined firepower would be sufficient in supporting the Skakoan Government against the Galactic Alliance's Invasion Force should that come to pass.

"Captain, we have arrived over Raithal on schedule." Came the voice of a Advanced Super Tactical Droid currently named Walo who was also monitoring the status of the fleet on the main command bridge. Pok turned his bulbous head towards the Super Tactical Droid in acknowledgement before deciding to speak directly.

"Good!, Good!. We should have no further delays on
delivering our cargo to the Glorious Trade Federation." explaining in a rather direct manner with vivid hand gestures.

As the ISV Radiance and her accompanying fleet entered hyperspace once more, Admiral Myneto found himself reminiscing. It had been a while since he'd last been at the head of a major fleet formation, not since the Battle of Fondor where the Final Dawn had managed to break through the allied battle line and temporarily cripple the dreadnought Morai. That specific engagement saw him and many of his crewman reported lost, and presumed dead. For most on that hauntingly long list, they had in fact died in the endless void but not him. No, he spent days floating amongst the debris in a makeship spacesuit that constantly leaked air. He survived on dumb luck. He was not about to make the same mistake again.

The Anasxi Defense Fleet - colloquially known as the 1st Anaxsi-Imperial Battlefleet - had been deployed with strict orders to find and intercept a rouge Trade Federation fleet that had been scrounged up at the behest of the Skakoan government in retaliation against perceived injustice. He shivered at that thought. How in the world was community service an injustice? Nevertheless, they had taken the Alliance's measures to enforce the law as a slight and if the intelligence reports were to be believed had purchased two large and powerful battlecruisers from the fallen Empire and intended to use them as leverage in further defiance of the law. Such egregious violation of established civil order merited a strong response on the part of the GADF, High Command contended.

But the fleet was already stretched thin. The sudden and inexplicable collapse of nearly half a dozen other old and famous states ensured that the galaxy remained in chaos, and the GADF has no choice but to deploy dozens of expeditionary task forces to hundreds of worlds in response, especially those once under the protection of the Silver Jedi Concord. There was no competent fleet commander or fleet for that matter that could respond in time except for the Anaxsi Defense Fleet and the highest ranking Alliance Navy officer present in the system: The Superintendent of the Anaxes War College - himself, Zahara Myneto.

When he agreed to High Admiral Gascon's wishes, he had no idea he'd be taking command of such a diverse and unorthodox smattering of officers. He contended the fleet was split between two distinct groups - a few dozen or so of the Old Guard, members of the most powerful and ancient noble or otherwise noteworthy families in the Core and the New Guard, those officers who had advanced under the cover of the Second Great Hyperspace Wars, the officers who were not afraid to buck tradition and orthodoxy if it meant ensuring victory with minimal cost. One of those newer, more unorthodox officers served aboard the Radiance and had been careful to ingratiate herself to Myneto, something he was baffled by.

She and he both stood on the bridge in silence, hands clasped together behind their backs staring at the empty void. Perhaps she was also engaged in deep thought, hopefully not reliving past trauma. But to his surprise, she snapped out of it and walked closer to him. "The Trade Federation will claim neutrality in this. They always do" Her words were dangerously close to sounding political and while he was careful not to engage in politics, not since eschewing a run for Senate some four decades earlier, he recognized she was right. "They always do" He repeated.

Any further conversation was cut short however when an ensign called the first officer to his station to report something. After whispering something indescribable, she looked up at the Admiral and confirmed what he suspected. They found them.

"All ships: Prepare to transition to realspace"

Taking the Hyidan Way was long and treacherous to those caught unprepared as it was a critical junction for trade and commerce throughout multiple systems and that meant it was a prime target for pirates and other vagabonds. However the Trade Federation had known about the considerable risk and had sent enough firepower to compensate for any perceived attacks on the cargo contained within the Convoy. The transportation of two star destroyers from the Empire was dangerous enough for the convoy which made them go slower than normal to avoid detection as they approached the Alliance Borders.

Captain Pok was feasting on bowels of fruit provided by the mostly neimoidian crew as the Advanced Super Tactical Droid Walo was walking around the various stations on the bridge to make sure everything was operating at 100% capacity. "Sir, COMSCAN has detected a large fleet approaching Raithal. Their identification code points to the Planet of Anaxes." came the monotone voice of Walo as the battle droid radar technician pointed to the bleeping red dots exiting hyperspace away from their current position.

Long boney fingers scratched underneath his double chin as the overweight neimoidian captain received the news with a surprised face from the Advanced Super Tactical Droid. It became quite apparent after some time that the Galactic Alliance had caught wind of their convoy through yet unknown means and were attempting to intercept them before they could enter into the Alliance Space.

"Bring up the tactical screen on the bridge. Alert all squadrons to prepare for battle." Pok said gesturing his arm out in a wide motion while munching on a red fruit as the juices spilled. A single screen was brought up from his command chair as it showed the current position of his convoy and the recently arrived Alliance. The Command Bridge on board the TFNS Lok Durd began to alert all vessels within the fleet to prepare for battle.

Although this was not the worse news as the Senator of Skako appeared before him on a secure holographic channel. "Captain, what is the update on the convoy's status?" Laborr wanted to know interlocking his fingers. "My Lord, we have run into a bit of trouble. The Alliance has sent an armed detachment to intercept us before we reach Skako." He explained with a unsure face. "Errrrhh. This development is less than ideal, we need that cargo intact if we are to repel the Alliance. Have you crossed the Alliance Border?" Laborr asked with a furious tone wanting to know if the convoy had crossed the border for legal purposes.

"No my lord, we are currently at Raithal. An independent world..." Captain Nargg explained with a joyous tone. "You will have to hold over Raithal then, if the convoy crosses the border we will be in serious trouble with the Alliance Government as we will be unable to claim neutrality. You will drive the alliance fleet back then move your convoy on another route." Laborr explained wanting to keep the convoy from crossing the alliance border as a safe guard.

"Affirmative, my Lord. For the Glory of the Trade Federation!" Nargg said with a bow of his head as the senator's transmissions was closed between them. The Captain was unconcerned about the Alliance Fleet for the moment as they had enough firepower on board to contend with even the most modernized of vessels. However they needed to drive the Alliance away otherwise the convoy would be destroyed and he along with it.

"Halt the convoy and move into battle formation N94." Captain Pok said as the 1st Convoy Fleet would move into position with the two star destroyers positioned in the back to protect them from the Alliance Fleet. They needed to arrive over Skako in operational condition. The Three Lucrehulk's would be at the forefront of the formation as they had superior shielding.

The Radiance the first of the ships of the fleet to exit hyperspace. From what he'd been told, the old workhouse hadn't been deployed outside the Anaxes System in nearly two decades, not since the failed Mawite attack at Tython had been repelled. Even then, she was still in her prime, and even though she lurched every once and a while and sometimes suffered acute secondary systems failures, she was a beauty. A powerful beauty at that. The Admiral swelled with pride as he carefully observed the rest of the fleet snap into existence over Raithal. They operated in perfect symphony, every ship, each attack line moving in perfect unison just as they had practiced. His inner teacher had grown since agreeing to take on the job of overseeing the training of the next generation of Alliance military leaders. He was proud.

"Task Group Warrior checked in" The first officer began checking off its attack line as they sent customary communications reports to the Radiance before returning to radio silence. In total, the Anasxi fleet contained four Task Groups - three centered around attack and an other rounded out for defense. Perfectly balanced. "All ships report ready"

He nodded. The time had come to make a rather drab and long communique to the Trade Federation fleet, something pointed and direct condemning their recent actions while also being forceful enough to suggest the Alliance was not unwilling to engage if need be. Surely he was capable of that. A dejected sigh. Speeches were not his strong suit. As if sensing the Admiral's hesitation, the first officer batted away a request from a Lieutenant to hail the head federation warship but Zahara overruled her. It was time for the Skakoans to face the music.

"Attention Trade Federation Convoy, this is Admiral Zahara Myneto aboard the ASV Radicance" Ever careful to identify the towering battlecruiser was indeed an Alliance vessel, Myneto chose to temporarily alter the prefix of the Radiance. "You are directed to stand down and submit to inspection. I won't ask twice" A simple hand motion cut off communication on his end while awaiting a response from the Trade Federation. As he spoke, fighter squadrons were already beginning to disgorge from the fleets carriers, Radiance included, and had begun taking their positions. The most powerful and lumbering vessels of the fleet - the Tyrant Class Modular Missile Cruisers stayed behind the Radiance but were preparing for the possibility of direct engagement by loading up their hundreds of missile tubes. From the looks of the Federation fleet, they'd be needed.

But maybe, just maybe they wouldn't be. Maybe the Trade Federation was bluffing. Either way, he was prepared. The strong arm of the law would not be intimidated by a meager megacorporation.

1st Skakoan Convoy Fleet
The Trade Federation

FEAF575F-8648-42B6-BCAB-87B7C711771C-removebg-preview.png
The Convoy had just entered into battle formation N94, which was a defensive play developed by the Trade Federation. The main goal of the formation was to focus all the enemy's firepower towards the three largest vessels currently operating within the fleet at the time, giving time for the rest of the fleet to adapt as the battle raged. The Tambor Pattern Lucrehulk Class Battleship filled that particular role within the 1st Skakoan Convoy fleet and thus was at the forefront despite the Two Zelleon Class A Star Destroyers being larger in length. There was quite a frenzy on board the Capital Ship 'Lok Durd' as the Neimoidian Captain glanced at the tactical screen beside him to observe the enemy formation.

The way that the enemy fleet moved into the system told him first and foremost that it was being lead by someone with experience as they operated in perfect symphony with each battle line moving in utmost perfection. Although such an
analysis was cut short as the presumed leading vessel ASV Radiance underneath Admiral Zahara Myneto Zahara Myneto transmitted a simple but forceful message telling them to stand down and submit to inspection or else. Pok could tell that the Alliance Admiral was not going to be back down from fighting if push came to shove but the orders from his superiors within the Federation were absolute and thus had to be followed to the letter.

"Walo, What are our chances of winning?" Pok asked glancing over to the Advanced Super Tactical Droid beside him. "According to my battle analysis system, our chance of victory is 34% in a direct confrontation but our odds improve to 58% if we manage to break through their lines with expendable units. Given their superior numbers and direct firepower compared to our own we would be at a severe disadvantage regardless." was the answer by Walo after some calculations using his battle analysis module installed in all ASTD droids. The neimoidian officer understood that winning this fight was going to be difficult but they still had a chance if they could puncture through the Alliance Battle Line. Deciding to send a return message to the Alliance Admiral.

"This is Captain Pok Nargg of the Trade Federation.
Unfortunately, Admiral Myneto we must inform you that the Planet of Raithal is an independent system and outside the Alliance Jurisdiction. And thus you have no authority to stop this convoy from partaking in commerce." Pok responded with a smug look on his face as the fruit juice dripped down his double chin, wanting to know if the Alliance would press the attack against them over a Neutral World. The Trade Federation would simply use it to bolster their support within the senate.

The Alliance Fleet was already sending out fighter squadrons from its carriers as the small red dots moved into
position on the tactical screen next to his command chair. What the convoy fleet lacked in direct firepower they made up for it in expendable units which could bog down the enemy before they reached the main formation.

"Prepare our starfighter squadrons for direct engagement. If we can harass them enough they will come towards us and we shall have the advantage!" He explained with a joyous tone as the bridge crew issued the order to the droid starfighter squadrons down below who promptly zoomed out of the circle hangers of the Lucrehulk Class Battleships; moving into formation around them until further instructions were issued by the capital ship.

"All fighter squadrons have moved into formation and are awaiting further instructions." The Advanced Super Tactical Droid explained moving into view once more. He was responsible for
coordinating the commands of the Captain to all vessels currently within the convoy and would provide tactical support for the potential battle ahead.

Zahara chuckled. The Captain was correct, in this instance at least. Raithal was a neutral world, therefore neither he or the GADF had any legal right to interfere in free commerce however this wasn't free commerce. The trafficking of weapons into Alliance space was, needless to say, illegal and therefore he had the moral authority to intervene. The question of legal authority was for JAG to determine at some other time. "My request is the same. Stand down and submit for inspection" With a flick of his wrist, the comm link was terminated.

He looked towards the Commander mentally berating himself for not bothering to learn her name, motioning for her to join him in the conference room where a secure communications link had been established with the commanders of the fleets other two Task Forces. He wrapped his hands acound the holotable before examining the current status of both his and Narggs fleets.

"He's moving the more expendable ships in front of the Star Destroyers" explained the first officer, studying the map intently as well. "He's baiting us"

That much was apparent. If the Trade Federation could entice the Alliance into attacking first, everything would go up into smoke. The Senate would side with Skako and the GADF would be blamed for needlessly escalating a diplomatic standoff. Worse, he'd be sent to the deepest, darkest recess of space if not stripped of rank. No, he could not allow the Trade Federation to dictate the narrative.

"Hold" He ordered the assembled commanding officers. "No matter what they do, we hold" He turned to the commanding officer of the Warrior - a Redeemer Class Star Defender, arguably the workhouse carrier of the Alliance Navy. It's Captain was an older Anaxsi Commodore who was the defacto head of the fleet's Old Guard contingent. Wolfram was his name, if Zahara remembered correctly. "Keep the Warrior behind her escorts"

"Have the Independence and Freedom move forward. As soon as they engage we're going to bombard those shields and break their line" He said referencing the Tyrant I Class Modular Missile Cruisers assigned to Wolfram's Task Force. Their names were ironic considering they carried hundreds of missiles and had the potential to rain death on anyone unlucky enough to find themselves in their path.

With that, the Admiral moved to cross his arms over his chest anxiously awaiting the response from Narrg's fleet. If he had to guess, the Trade Federation would attempt to coax a response from the Alliance, possibly by sending the thousands of deployed fighters to harass the picket line guarding the Radiance and Warrior. But he felt deep down that Nargg would try something unpredictable. He just had to be ready for it.

The response from Admiral Myneto came quicker than expected, simply repeating that the convoy fleet stand down and submit to inspection. It became apparent that the Admiral was nothing if not persistent and that would pose an interesting challenge to the Neimoidian Captain as the initial plan hinged on the Galactic Alliance making the first move in the engagement otherwise the Trade Federation would be seen as the aggressors and lose even more support within the Alliance. Pok noted that the Alliance Fleet would not engage them directly and thus both fleets were at a standoff, the convoy fleet could not punch through the battle lines without suffering immense damages. The other alternative was using the two Zelleon Class A Star Destroyers within his fleet to back an offensive but they had to arrive in pristine condition to Skako.

"If they will not engage us first then we simply need to add enough pressure where they can no longer afford to sit idly by. Let us see if this particular Alliance Commander has empathy." Pok said picking up another fruit from the bowel on the command chair; promptly taking a bite. The readjusted plan reasoned that the Alliance Commander behind the fleet would attack the convoy first if innocent lives were in danger. If the commander refused to act then the Trade Federation could accuse the officer of cowardice but if the commander pressed the attack then they would have their chance to paint the Galactic Defense Force as the
aggressors in the conflict.

"According to my battle simulations, the Alliance Fleet would engage us if we bombarded the Civilian Populace of Raithal. We can afford to send three squadrons of bombers to the surface without weakening our starfighter screen incase they do press the attack." Came the
response from the Advanced Super Tactical Droid having run through the countless simulations within his head to predict that the Alliance would be willing to engage them if civilian lives were at risk given past alliance expeditions against the Brotherhood of the Maw.

"A sound strategy, Walo. Redirect Unit 90 and Unit 91 from the convoy towards the planet surface, tell them to send Hyena Class Bombers to harass the population of Raithal." Pok said as the command was was issued from the Flagship Command Staff to their droid brains. Glancing over as two blue dots moved from the protection of the convoy towards the surface where they promptly undocked their hyena class bombers to begin a bombing run on the population in order to force a response from the Alliance Admiral in charge.

He could hardly believe his eyes as he glanced at the tactical layout of the battle field on the holo-table. What was the Neimodian doing? It was a smart move, but ultimately foolhardy. The Senate would not look favorably on the Trade Federation once word reached that they had moved to attack a neutral world in order to provoke an engagement with the Alliance Navy. This was of course contingent on Zahara's ability to win against the Trade Federation fleet. From what he could tell, they were being reserved and cautious. The twin battlecruisers they were hauling seemed fully armed so he suspected they were keeping them in reserve not because they couldn't be used, but because Skako didn't want their precious cargo damaged. Good. He didn't need two heavily armed Star Destroyers bearing down on his fleet. "Redeploy Orange Wing. Intercept those damn fighters" He grumbled.

His eyes turned back to the holo-table. If he could break through Nargg's lines, he could deploy a boarding party and possibily take control of the battlecruisers. He shook his head. That was too risky and he didn't have CorSec Troops to back him up. Sometimes, it was easy to forget he was no longer in the CDF.

"The Independence reports ready, sir" The first officer interrupted his train of thought, reminding him of the heavily armed missile cruiser that had been re-positioned closer - though not terribly closer - to the enemy fleet. "I advise we press the attack"

"I agree, sir" Wolfram's hologram finally answered. The old battle ax was probably eager for a armed confrontation, likely dreamed of it. While Zahara had expected his position would be to attack, he was a bit taken aback by the fact that his New Guard first officer suggested the plan in the first place. There was a lot to consider but pressing the attack wasn't necessary. As long as he could goud Nargg into making the first move.

"Not yet" He answered. "Instruct the Independence and Freedom to prepare to fire a barrage at the lead ships shields but to wait" He pressed his palms into the holo-table once more. "Send a fighter squadron to make a run on the lead ships bridge superstructure. Don't fire just come close and when they engage run like hell"

The Neimoidian Captain glanced at the tactical screen as live video feed of the Hyena-Class Bombers as they made strafing runs across the surface, payload after payload exploded along streets and corridors. Of course there was major risk involved in deliberately attacking a neutral world in order to force a confrontation with the Galactic Alliance. The Senate would no doubt be informed of this crime by the Strategic Intelligence Agency and the after battle report from Admiral Myneto, seeking retributions which would cause the Alliance Branch of the Trade Federation to lose even its most fervent supporters within the bureaucracy.

"The enemy have redirected a squadron of fighters in a vain attempt to halt our bombings of the surface." came the voice of the Advanced Super Tactical Droid as it was monitoring the open display map on the bridge. Several blue dots representing fighters would be seen leaving the protection of the enemy fleet on a calculated interception course. Nargg paused for just a moment to take another bite from the bowl before considering his response. If the enemy squadron broke through his line then it would be the end for TFNV Unit 90 and TFNV Unit 91 which had been sent to hover over the surface.

Additionally, Nargg noticed the positioning of an enemy cruiser of some kind moving quite close to the convoy fleet which made him suspect that the Admiral Zahara Myneto Zahara Myneto had something up his sleeve. "Inform Unit 90 and Unit 91 of the threat against them and tell them to recall all bombers from the surface.
They are to begin flanking the enemy on the left side." Nargg exclaimed with some semblance of insight as the commands were issued down the chain until a signal could be sent to both those droid units. It would take little time for the Hyena Class Bombers to return to their carriers if nothing went wrong. Glancing over as the two TFXS Space Superiority Droid Carriers began moving away from the orbit of Raithal and began to engage a flanking maneuver.

"Send a command to TFNV Unit 89, 92 and 93 to begin flanking the right side. We shall enclose them in a pincher grab using our more
expendable carrier units. Inform the rest of the convoy that we are advancing on the enemy formation." He bellowed with authority as the other three TSFX Space Superiority Droid Carriers moved away from the convoy formation to flank around the right side. They could no longer sit by and wait for the Alliance to make the first move otherwise the convoy would never arrive at Skako in time for refueling and resupply.

"We are detecting a fighter squadron approaching the flagship. I have already sent a squadron of Tri-Fighter Droids to intercept them before they reach the command bridge." The Tactical Droid said after spotting them on the display. Nargg nodded his head in
acknowledgement as he was glad there was another tactician on board who could handle things.

The Three Tambor Pattern Lucrehulk's the Lok Durd, Surzazza and Goggin would begin to advance very slowly towards the enemy fleet but waiting for the four TFXS Reimbursement Class Battlecruisers to advance ahead of them to provide them protection from whatever the Alliance Admiral had planned.

The Admiral pressed his palms further into the holo-table as he awaited the response from the Trade Federation fleet. If he had to guess, the presence of a fully armed fighter squadron mere meters away from his bridge would scare the Trade Federation Captain into action. If not, then Zahara would simply have to engage preemptively and explain his reasoning to High Command. Regardless, the Trade Federation had to be stopped before it entered Alliance space, one way or another.

"Sir!" The first officer broke the Admiral's train of thought and called his attention to the most recent developments on the battlefield. Nargg took the bait. Good. But he was moving his fleets in a way Zahara hadn't anticipated. "A pincer movement" she scoffed.

Captain Wolfram raised his hand to his holographic head deep thought, as he barked orders to the crew of the Warrior to prepare for battle. Zahara meanwhile was busy barking his own orders to the crew of the Radiance which was poised to be squeezed in on both sides by the Federation fleet. Unless...

"Majestic and Heroic. Light them up" He addressed Wolfram, specifically calling upon the other Tyrant I Class Modular Missile Cruisers to bombard the approaching enemy fleet with missile fire, in theory the combined firepower of the two heavily armed missile cruisers would be enough to batter the enemy ships shields and upon them up to the devastating turbolaser barrage the Radiance had to offer.

"As soon as Heroic and Majestic break through those shields, we mop up." He could already feel the engines of the Radiance come to life. But the ship had inertial compensatory so whatever he was feeling was likely a result of his overactive imagination. "Freedom and Independence, your misson profiles have changed. As soon as we destroy those escorts, you target the super-carriers. Prep landing craft. We're taking those damned Star Destroyers!"
