Tears In Rain | Interacting with [member="Kole Harper"] ~ The Anchor ~ "Let those fools be loud, let alarms ring out."
——————————————————————

Satisfied that some compromise, some common ground was reached, it was terribly easy for Lyn to let loose her own easy laugh, the jacket guarding some of them against the rain and failing to cover the others, her new hair already slick with the downpour, "Kole!"

It wasn't born of anger. Joy, instead, arms on his shoulders, keeping herself steady in his grip in the event things got slippery, "You're a bastard." She mused half to herself, tresses of her-now dark hair sticking to her face and the leather of his coat. But those eyes were full of nothing but affection, the hostility of before wiped away in an instant. And with it came a melodramatic sigh, a rainsoaked hand on his face, "We'll catch a cold-- You will. You will." That sort of subtle, yet incorrect correction was just a bitter reminder of how some things wouldn't affect her anymore. Would she get sick like a normal person? Or just experience the discomfort of the elements in a vacuum?

"And I'm frozen to the bone." Not wholly true, considering the bulk of his jacket provided suitable warmth, but considering everything northward of her neck felt like she'd just dunked her head in a bucket of ice water. Old tears blended to new rain, washed away like a stream, and she finally smiled again.

Except he wouldn't.

"Your cold?" Kole laughed with the quirk of his brow, almost questioning how cold she must've been in comparison to himself. It was with each droplet that struck his synthetic skin, his clothing, his hair, that had furthered his freezing sensation. Yet, he didn't really seem to mind; even as his clothes had become all the more heavier with the liquid storing itself inside. It wasn't going to kill him, or her, and a warm shower always seemed to be a simple solution to freezing waters. Least in Kole's experience, that is. They didn't live in luxury, but it was certainly more comfortable than Kole had experienced before.

They wandered out further into the rain, even if against Lynnori's best wishes. It was almost to the edge of the rooftop, right to the balcony. There were these lights, subtle and barely illuminating the area, that had pierced through the downpour and onto themselves. They hadn't been shrouded in complete darkness that is. Though it was then that Kole set her down, "There." He smugly replied. There was this idea that had been conjured within Kole's mind- a perception of what Bastion truly looked like. He was wrong.

There had been a strange connection to the planet he hadn't previously felt elsewhere. He couldn't place it, and he likely wouldn't. Not for a long time.

"Thanks." Lyn huffed, again, a bit too dramatically. It felt good, almost like her 'old' self, so she let it ride, "Do you trust me now?"

In reality, it was her trusting him. Even trusting him in something relatively mundane like not letting her fall on her behind, to the things of a grander scheme, like watching her back in dangerous situations, not stealing her toothbrush. The real groundbreaking stuff that makes or breaks couples, you know? With the jacket sitting heavy around her shoulders she turned to look out at the lights of Bastion, wistfully exhaling, "Almost like Coruscant. Almost."

Nothing would beat Coruscant, though.

Her arm easily curled through his, the arm crooked appropriately to link them, though with the shift in her shoulder she had to adjust before the coat landed in a wet heap and she lost her shielding against the weather. It was comfortable, and summoned a distant memory of a certain party that brought a smile to her face, "Remember the Sith Ball?"

"Feels like it was yesterday."

So much was different. Her head moved to rest against Kole's shoulder and upper arm, not even minding the dampness of his shirt and skin.

It was never a question as to whether he could trust her, for he always could. No matter the circumstances; it was only that he was never going to be able to trust the Galaxy with her. That wasn't going to change, he knew that. All Kole was capable of doing was turning a blind-eye, despite his better judgement. As such, it should come to no surprise that he answered; "I always could." It was said with a certain sincerity to his tone, and a flex of a grin. His focus switched itself back to that of Bastion as he stood right up against the barrier that prevented an untimely demise. The lights of said city reflecting back against his person, illuminating the duo to some degree.

"Mhmm." Kole muttered, his head nodding down with the slightest of grins, the same kind that remained as he angled his gaze into Lyn's direction. "I also remember acting as someone's baby sitter." He hoped she retained that memory. Kole could fondly recall a drunken Lyn parading around at an event all too full of killers. It had been unsettling in the moment, but amusing in hindsight.

An unflattering rough exhale left Lyn's nose and she moved to lean against the railing beside him, doing a good show of looking stricken at his recollection, "It wasn't like that."

"The drinks were good, that's all."

That panged inside. Drinks. Drinking. She admittedly hadn't had much of a craving for alcohol lately, a surprise to be sure. Unclear if welcome, yet. Could she get buzzed, tipsy, drunk like before? Or was she damned to an existence of perpetual sobriety now? To think on it only troubled her, in a moment she didn't want to find trouble in, so it was a reminiscent thought filed away for later.

It didn't take much effort on her part to hike the coat up over her head just enough to protect her from any more freezing rain, "Shouldn't we go inside?" Almost a whine, mostly a suggestion. For once, she longed for the stifling warmth of the apartment.

Kole had only found himself capable of offering a huff in response, but it didn't comprise of anything but amusement. It was easily identifiable through the grin across his face. His synthetic, blue eyes had fallen upon Lyn for but a moment before flickering back towards the city-scape at large. There had always been that prodding and poking that those two shared, and whilst it primarily came from the former-Zeltron, Kole felt inclined to jump in every once and a while. It was only fair, after all.

He angled his head to the side, feeling the rain felt against his cheek whilst instinctively squinting and tensing his face as every droplet was anticipated. "Maybe." He muttered, before both of his hands had pushed off of the railing he had been leaning against. His movements came slow, as if they were waiting- but eventually this Droid was bound to be back inside with hand placed against his fellow HRD, guiding her movements. It wasn't as if she needed it, though.

As much as Kole enjoyed the rain, it was never all that pleasant to be caught out in it.
