Description:
With the Imperial First Order expanding quickly throughout their desired territories the use of ground assault vehicles for the purpose of assault and policing increased substantially from earlier engagements. This practice brought about the need for deployment of the larger war machines such as AT-ATs and their supporting troopers from orbital garrisons without the need for Star Destroyers to be lowered closer to the planets surface, potentially allowing easier access terrorists and rebels for attack.
It was this need that lead the designers of Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems, now under the control of Moff Sonn, to develop the Suppression Deployment Shuttle. Basically no more than a heavily armoured hollow brick with guns, the SJFS-SDS carries a full company of First Order Stormtroopers and a complimenting Armoured Division of 6 AT-ATs, 3 AT-STs and 8 scout bikes in order to allow the First Order a fast acting security element that can be both offensive and present for the protection of the Imperial State.
Commanded by a crew of four the SDS is lightly crewed and effectively one of the fastest ways to deploy an armoured force to the theatre requiring their presence. The fast release hatch designed on the base of the SDS was implemented to be a quick deployment system basically removing the floor from the shuttle completely that allows it to land, disconnect and depart in less then 30 seconds.
Using the SDS has already been met with elaborate success for the First Order and it will fast become the key system alongside the Atmospheric Assault Lander to establish First Order dominance.
