SPECIAL FEATURES
  • It is a red or purple gem that is either refined or raw (in this case raw) used by Sith to entrap their enemies souls. The largest of these was kept in the Great Temple on Korriban and destroyed by Freedon Nadd when seducing Exar Kun to the Dark Side
STRENGTHS
  • Main Function: To trap the souls of creatures slain by the user
  • Secondary Function: To enhance the Force Powers of the user by consuming the essence within
  • Potential Third Use: A creature of sufficient Force power may bind their soul to this object and become a focus point
WEAKNESSES
  • Potential Backfire: A user without sufficient strength or knowledge may become trapped inside
  • Mundane material: This gem is not easily destroyed, but a lightsaber or sustained fire from a blaster can damage or destroy it
  • Ingredient for Rituals: This item can be used in potentially many Dark Side rituals and could be coveted by many who might want to use it
  • Limited containment: It can only house around fifty normal souls or a single powerful Force Adept at a time.
DESCRIPTION
Sith Gems, Stones, Crystals have been utilized throughout history for nefarious deeds. Marko Ragnos had many adorning his staff, which was used to empower non-Force Adepts with the power to use the Force, while others have been housed in Temples and simply used to trap Jedi, while others have adorned amulets and rings. This one is raw, as if hewn from the original rock, polished and then simply utilized. Likely it's creator only desired the material and didn't care about asthetics. It glows with an inner light that diminishes when not in use. It will glow when a nearby creature dies, or when power is drawn from within.

Out Of Character Info

Intent: To canonize a Sith Artifact

Hello, I will be handling this

The gem is Open Market, meaning any character or faction could theoretically buy it. But it traps souls and enhances Force powers by consuming essence which means they can perpetually keep adding npc's to it offscreen. That is extremely high in the possibility for abuse. A Sith artifact that traps souls would be restricted by any sane government, and Sith would not sell them openly. With its level of power it is going to be a maximum production of unique.

"To enhance the Force Powers of the user by consuming the essence within."
This is extremely vague and without limits, a player could argue that they have been trapping offscreen. It will need some more clarification

"A creature of sufficient Force power may bind their soul to this object and become a focus point."
Focus point is undefined. Does this create a phylactery? Does it allow the user to project their consciousness across the galaxy? Does it simply anchor them to the physical world after death? This is a potential effect that cannot be left ambiguous and depending could be pressing towards the immortality rule.

I have removed the Open Market, limited the number of souls it can contain, made it semi-unique, and clarified how a user can bind their soul to it, and how they could come to inhabit a weaker user. A Force Ghost is canonically bound to a location or object. I intended this to be the way a user could bind to this object.

Hopefully this will be sufficient. Please let me know if further changes should be made.
