Sith Military
Drawn from the various worlds behind the Blackwall, the martialed forces of the Sith vary from conscripted masses to distinguished elites but all share a deadly determination and insidious honor in their adherence to the will of the Sith that lead them. The military of the Sith Order can largely be divided into three separate, yet admittedly not entirely distinct, categories and subdivisions. The Tsosûtormaskon, the Kairyon, and the Valdias.Positions within the military are theoretically assigned based upon merit and aptitude however clever politicking can make even a mediocre officer into a theater’s commander. Especially in regards to Sith and their influence within the ranks. The most sought after positions are of course those of Imperator of an Imperial Legion, Warmaster of an Oversector Army, and Warmaster of an Oversector Fleet.
Tsosûtormaskon | Armada
Perhaps the most numerous single collection of vessels and warships in the galaxy, the Sith Order’s Armada is a collection of fleets all flying the banners of the Sith that can largely be classified into two distinct groups and purposes.
The Oversector Fleets are internal patrol and security forces, for the most part at least, and tend to be purely defensively oriented. They are assigned to safeguard and respond to threats to their designated sectors, however they can be moved to aid other systems beyond their purview or even directed to exit the Blackwall on an offensive mission entirely should the need arise.
The Expedition Fleets are more aggressive and offensive based fleets, typically attached to or part of the Imperial Legions to some extent. While they are official formations with ranks and oversight, oftentimes much of their actual composition comes from the Valdias and as such they are often used as vehicles to gain glory and prestige for the Sith within.
Kairyon | Imperial Army
The bulk of the Sith Order’s ground forces are conscripted from their citizenry and some warrior castes from species that maintain such traditions, often being either volunteers or forcibly recruited due to minor crimes or in exchange for fewer taxes. These soldiers are grouped into planetary forces, with some of them being reserved as planetary defense forces, then into sector forces and from thereon into the Imperial Legions or Oversector Armies.
Imperial Legions are elite and usually specially trained soldiers under the command of an Imperator, often spearheading the wars waged beyond the Blackwall or serving as the core of war fronts with the wider armies around them. Unlike Oversector Armies, the Legions typically boast their own naval assets and maintain a greater degree of operational flexibility and independence at the cost of a more competitive and vied for position.
Valdias | Warhosts
Unlike the ordered and regimented armies and fleets of the Sith Order’s proper military forces, the Valdias are personal forces of various Sith Lords and occasionally even planetary governors and hired mercenaries. They vary greatly in terms of equipment, training, and doctrine to the point that they are often considered irregular forces almost by default.
What they lack in official support however they make up for in sheer flexibility and personal responsibility. Valdias are offered up in campaigns and battles to take the place of regular soldiers and units in exchange for the chance of glory and whatever rewards they can reap during their fighting. They aren’t thought much of by the organized imperial forces of the wider order, more akin to canon fodder than real assets, but their unpredictability is precisely what can make them a key asset in turning the tide of any single conflict.
