DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
Built to serve Ascendancy troops both on the battlefield as well as in domestic situations, the SA-421 carries special features enabling effective function in the field. Troopers can communicate privately using commlinks built directly into their helmets - frequencies can be switched by use of the Heads-Up Display, which can be controlled through facial movements of the user. The HUD also displays any maps that have uploaded to the helmet prior to putting it on (requiring connection to an operations terminal), and from any data-burst transmissions received via the comm system.
Due to the hazardous nature of the environments in which troopers are likely to find themselves, the helmet also contains a rebreather system that will protect them against smoke or toxic gases, filtering these out and allowing the wearer to breathe freely. This is especially useful in domestic situations, such as when a trooper might be required to assist with a building fire. The armour plating is also hardened so as to be flame-retardant, though the bodyglove worn beneath is not similarly resistant, and therefore is flammable.
Troopers also have a datapad directly incorporated into the wrist bracer on their left side, to enable them to access information sent by their local headquarters, and also to electronically issue tickets and fines to any citizenry engaged in anti-social or inappropriate behaviour.
DESCRIPTION
Due to the need for the forces of the newly-created Sith Ascendancy to be effectively consolidated, the Ascendant Circle requested that the manufacturing arm of Ignus Industries design and produce an armour suitable for use by those troopers serving in the Ascendant military. The result is an armour that superbly blends the Sith Trooper armour of the Old Republic with more modern aesthetics, using moulded Duraplast plates over the top of an Armorplast bodyglove.
Designed for combat usage, the armour is resistant to blaster fire, though as is typical of such armour, it can only withstand a small number of shots before the person within is harmed by the shots. The armour plates themselves are mildly ablative, diffusing the energy from any direct shot, but hardened sufficiently to protect the wearer from projectile weapons. The armour is also flame-retardant, to ensure that the user will not be burned by blazes in close proximity, but it is still vulnerable to explosive damage, which the armour will not ablate.
The armour is standard-issue for Ascendancy Troopers, and can be used on the battlefield, but also employed by those troopers assigned to local garrisons and domestic policing duties. Though it provides considerable anonymity for the wearer, each set has an issue code embedded in the back of the armour so that it can allow the user to be identified - primarily to allow for battle identification in the event of their death.
