DESCRIPTION
This ship was designed to meet and exceed the standards of a Kuat Drive Yards procurement process. Silk's primary innovation focused on the tug apparatus. Rather than rely solely on tractor beams or a physical link, this vessel encloses its cargo in a dedicated inertial dampener and a tensor field. The combination radically reduces structural stress while increasing structural integrity. As a result, cargoes can include incomplete ships, fragile wrecks, and open-lattice shipyard armatures.
Though Silk designed the Sisyphus-class in line with the KDY procurement process, the tug sees extensive use in Silk's own shipyards and refit facilities. Sisyphus Utility Vessels also play a critical role in maintaining and replacing beacons, S-thread boosters, and HALCYON 'space train' transit nodes along the Mara Corridor and all routes where Silk maintains HALCYON networks. Naturally, all such vessels would be accompanied by serious escort.
