Intent: To provide a set of custom armor for [member="Sinistra"]

Development Thread: If Needed

Manufacturer: Rusty's Custom Firearms and Cutlery

Model: N/A

Affiliation: @Sinistra

Modularity: No

Production: Production: Unique

Material: Plastoid impact plates, electronic components, Asheran Armorweave outer shell, Spidersilk Elastex bodysuit, environmental controls

Classification: Multipurpose

Weight: 5 kilograms

Quality: 8

Special Features: The Asheran armorweave provides excellent protection against lightsabers and blasters, while the plastoid strike plates provide protection from kinetic impact over the neck, chest, back, thighs, and forearms. The spidersilk elastex bodysuit also provides protection against blaster bolts as well as blades, should the outer armor ever be breached, and when combined with environmental systems, affords a degree of protection against otherwise harmful environments.

Description: The customer commissioned Rusty to provide a set of lightweight armor that would protect her from lightsabers, energy weapons, and also afford a degree of protection from projectiles. With that in mind, he created a three layered set of armor that.

The inner layer is a bodysuit made primarily out of spidersilk elastex. Much like the bodygloves worn by stormtroopers, when used in conjuction with built in environmental controls, it offers limited protection against potentially hostile environments. Or, alternatively, it can keep the wearer cool in the desert, warm in the tundra, and anything in between. The material is highly durable and on its own would make an effective suit of armor, as its rated against blasters and vibroblades. It is, however, almost invasively form fitting, as it was constructed from a very precise scan of the customer's body. This is likely going to take some getting used to on the customer's part, and there's no way to get in and out of it quickly or with any degree of modesty. For that matter, there's precious little modesty to be had wearing it.

The next layer is constructed out of Ashernan Armorweave, a notoriously durable cloth produced by Vanir Technologies and purchased by RCFC for this set of armor. The material provides excellent protection against blasterfire, bladed weapons, and even lightsaber strikes, though lightsabers can still cut through after repeated strikes to the same area.

Rusty used the armorweave to build up a semirigid shell that completely encases the bodysuit. The joints are designed to allow for a full and natural range of motion, at the cost of protection. While most of the suit is comprised of 10 layers of the special armorweave, the joints only incorporate two. Though still protected, they represent a vulnerability that may be exploited. This layer of armor is somewhat constricting as well, which will take some getting used to. In order to maximize protection, it has to fit tightly against the bodysuit, and much like the bodysuit, there's no way to get in and out of it quickly. Trying to don it hastily will lead to a poor fit and probably chaffing.

The third layer of protection consists of a series of lightweight plastoid plates, forearm bracers, greaves, and a gorget. Constructed from the same lightweight plastoid that's been a staple of armor since the days of the Empire, the plastoid plates offer excellent protection against kinetic impacts, but aren't so good against energy weapons. Plates cover the chest, back, and thighs, while the forearms are protected by bracers, the shins by greaves, and the neck by a gorget. The idea here is to provide as much protection as possible against projectiles and physical blades by spreading the impact out. The underlying layers of armor should absorb a significant amount of the kinetic energy, but a high powered rifle round could still potentially cause massive contusions. These plates can also be weakened by energy strikes.
