She looked at him and wanted to make a joke but nodded. "THey can be, they don't need to be active all the time... just when needed. The ones trying to use it without understanding... and that does include at times your father." She held a hand up. "It is not a direct link, it connects to the unbeing a layer of the force where if you can think of the location you can travel to. When he sent students he was thinking about safety and protecting them so it sent them to the temples. The gateways are also a safety measure that prevents one from being lost in there as it will pull someone out of the layer." She said it while walking. "Though the gateway itself is just a medium, any jedi with enough knowledge and training could access it and sometimes you do not have the benefit of a gateway so being able to slip into the unbeing is beneficial."

He didn’t give the expression, but everything she had just told Connel went STRAIGHT over his head. “Being slip into the unbeing”? It’s okay though, while all Jedi should be good at something, one does not need to know everything. Then going back over in his head, he pondered.
So... Another GONK could be heard down the halls, he wondered aloud. If someone were to think of… say… the former Temple on Coruscant? Or would you need an entry point there? Though he may have looked to be planning something, he wasn’t.

She looked at him. "I know what you are thinking and yes one could but without knowing the full state of it where you are thinking could be under debris, it could be gone. Imagine if they have dropped the towers and you thinking about the council chambers high in the air came out. Most have a little disorientation at first but you would already be dropping... similar if the basement areas are flooded or destroyed. You would be coming out full impact into jagged duracrete and twisted metal. You need a strong awareness of where you are going the more detail the easier it is to find but you also need to know where you are going is safe."

That made sense.
Sort of like a Navcomputer on a ship... Another GONK could be heard down the halls. These biots running around. How often do they need to be fed? He looked at one, a little creeped out.


What do they eat? It was not something that he wanted to think about, but if they were on his side, they would be enough.

"Oh they will find their own food near the temple. Intruders, dangerous creatures, pests like rodents... They can technically eat anything." She said it. "But they love intruders, once they learn who is who which is fairly quickly their protection protocols kick in." She was walking as the Gonk droids were there and she patted one. "I would also recommend you take some of the arisen. they maintain, protect and serve as a better network in some cases. Can't jam a hive mind and they have the ability to convert debris into materials needed. So if there was damage they could start repairing as needed and rebuilding."

She, most assuredly did not mean to, but her assurance about the biots “figuring out” made him think about one thing…
So... Another GONK could be heard down the halls as he watched he walk over to them. those first couple of days before they figure things out there will be a lot of “PUT HIM DOWN”s? He shook his head, laughing, trying to joke, but a little weirded out.

Definitely could use a hive mind. Jedi apparently used to have one… hear that many are getting one again. He laughed at the thought in his head.

She looked at him with a small grin on her face. "Maybe just use the code word if they have someone. Biot no Biting, Biot no Biting, Biot No Biting." She gave a nod of her head. "And when you are teaching them remember to tell them. "Padawans are friends not food." She said it with a look at him. There was the GOnk droid rocking back and forth when she looked up. "So if you have more questions, I welcome them there is a whole lot of things we can do and the capabilities of the biots being able to protect. We can also make more or specific ones you might want or need as needed. We have also a full armory who in the galaxy can touch let alone match."

Starting to feel in WAY over his head, Connel suddenly wondered if he could go find a fight somewhere.
I do have a question. He cracked his neck. how responsive are they? He was still laughing, but he did not want to push anyone away from the place, and secretly feared this might.

I mean, do we have to do this with everyone?

"Prretty responsive, they learn quickly so you won't have to do it with everyone and once they get a general idea of the temple they will know when things are off. If it makes you feel comfortable have them observe in the mess hall where they can see everyone quickly. An individual can take a long time but a group is just the same to a biot." She said it looking at him. "Don't worry, many things will happen... many more are happening. You will get your chance to do a lot more, just enjoy the small things like this little break in the action. You'll go bald from the stress and pressurre."

The thought of having them observe was a good one. He did not want any undue issues happen. Not now when they were so close to being ready and up to go. What he wanted more than anything was a seamless start.
That works. I just want to turn the reigns over to Desbre Gensan when she gets here as she would have been my dad’s choice for this. He nodded, looking at the biots sitting there quietly. That’ll work.

He huffed with a smile at her observation. He was more an “ops” than a “logistics” guy, maybe a few years down the road, but not now. I have my mother’s head of hair. I’m good.

SHe grinned at that. "How is she doing by the way. I don't think I ever got to meet her... but she must have been a bastion of patience and strength.... also brave. Your father was a giant... a mountain. I mean I like them tall just look at Hanna... on second thought don't look at Hanna but see how she is tall and it is all legs.... but your father was bigger then her and wide like he could crush someone just falling overr. I could sit on his shoulder and barely had to alter my weight or center of gravity to make it less of a burden." She said it while walkiong and found a seat on a Gonk droid as it was moving around.

He smiled at the delve into how Chrysa was doing.
She’s doing well. She lives on Midvinter now. He nodded, she can enjoy a quiet life now. It’s been one of turmoil up to this point.

He visibly felt bad for that. The both of them wanted the quiet life once they finally married, but when he was found attuned to the Force, it was clear that “retirement” wasn’t in the cards, at least not yet. They never were able to get to “yet” and regardless of whether it was true or not, Connel felt responsible for that. I wish he was able to be there with her, and maybe he is in a sense… but...

She tapped her chin. "I mean there is always something you could do maybe... she gets to retire and live on a world of ice and snow and giant bears. Kiriko was great an all and most of them are but the potential to slip and break something will be there." SHe said it while staying on the gonk droid that was moving down the hall as she looked around. "THankfully can make it easier to visit her. Now though logistical wise what were you thinking for landing here at the temple. You want it to be hidden so how concealed or cloaked were you thinking for the entryways."

Finally, an easy question.
Tactically speaking, stick to the “Osprey”, transports. Cloaked, and unmarked, flying in low from the poles, travelling routes and paths I used to follow myself. walking over and grabbing a bottle of blue milk, he drank half of it down, they’ve already brought in the majority of the supplies already.


Was it viable to continue? No, far from it, and he well knew that, but Connel was willing to work with it for now. Did you have something in mind?

"I meant more the temple itself. Your fathers idea of blending in plain sight is wonderful but this is also the temple that has had to be rebuilt the most. I don't want to say change it all but maybe masquers for it and a cloaking device to conceal it from scans. I am not saying go full tech in the temple but do make the improvements. I'd also recommend in the construction our cleaner droids... THey can do a lot for daily life but are also a secondary defensive measure able to conceal rooms and doorways by making walls orr erasing markers so it seems they are still needing to search and research rooms."

Everything she was saying made sense. It was an easier time when father opened the Shadow Temple initially. Today? Not so much.
I’m not afraid of tech, so if you think that is a good idea… sucking on his gumline and then finishing the bottle, he shrugged, you’re the expert on this, so whatever you are willing to offer… I am willing to use. We have the advantage of all of the lower levels having been well hidden, but if they’re found… they’re found, you know?


Walking with the GONK, he looked around. This is meant to be more an “outpost” a “safehouse” so I say we go for it. I’m all for keeping the vault, and armory, but we don’t need the big dining hall and arena and that garbage. Maybe down the road, but not now.

She stopped for a moment, listening to Connel as he spoke and for a moment a heartbeat she allowed the force to accelerate the processes of her mind while she was going over all of the information that they would be able to bring... then she heard what he said and turned around without a sound but more a gust of wind. "What... you would remove the one place your father found the most sacred, how many hours did he spend in communion with the force cooking for the temple. It was a place of unity and song... I can kind of understand your mother retiring to a world full of tall, muscled warriors on high protein diets where they sleep under furs cause of the snow... but the kitchen waas where your father poured all of his love for the temple."

She said it and her voice was neutral... teasing in a way but mostly the jedi master was looking at him amused. Her hand coming up as she patted his shoulder. "It is okay Connel, we'll make this place great again and better in some cases. I'll have one of my daughters come by and help you when I am unable to. You'll like them... maybe just be careful. Some times they can be a little eccentric and out there but they are the best aat what they do within the jedi order."

I am so confused… he was going by Caltin’s thoughts in his head on what the place was to be if rebuilt, he was sure of it. It is what he would have wanted in a situation like this…


At this point, Connel wasn’t even paying attention to her teasing, he was lost in the sauce (so to speak) on what was happening. Did he just blow the deal on her helping him, or was she now trying to fix him up with one of her daughters. Um… okay…
