"It's fine. You asked. I don't try to hide a whole lot anymore." She replied just as quietly. His words made her snort about rebuilding bridges.
"I have nothing waiting for me back home." She admitted quietly, bobbing her knees outward against the tight hold of her arms. "There won't be any happy reunion, no pats on the back from that little chit hole planet."
"The bridges were burnt before I was even able to plead my case. This is my home and this is my family now. Even if I keep everyone at arms length." She muttered the last part, looking rather guilty about the words. She looked at him more intensely this time, a question forming behind her eyes before it fell away and her gaze fell to her clipboard.
"I'm sorry for leaving. For making you be Kyra's only person to lean on. I am just as bad as the people I left behind on Emberlene." She finally said, frowning as the words came out.
