As the Omega Protectorate is lacking a proper dropship capable of effectively and rapidly deploying vehicles into a landing zone during a planetary invasion; or during such operations in which one is required. The full intent of the Siege class Dropship is just that. To provide the Omega Protectorate with a vehicle that is fully capable of deploying a number of vehicles into an area effectively, efficiently and rapidly.

Modularity:
As the vessel is designed for the specific purpose of the rapid deployment of vehicles, any such modifications would rather limit and potentially harm or prevent the original purpose of the vessel from being properly utilized. As such it is incapable of modifications beyond the simple addition of markings and decals that would denote the vessels origins, fleet affiliation, unit affiliation or planetary and factional affiliations.

Like many vessels, he bulk of the construction material is Durasteel and Transparisteel. Most of the vessel is protected with a thick layer of Durasteel armor plating, however this is more to ensure the protection of the vehicles it is delivering. The compartments that carry the vehicles also contain limited quantities of sensor baffling metals; though this is done so more to ensure that the exact number of vehicles the vessel is carrying is not known as well as a means for the Omega Protectorate to use the vessels as a means to hide important personnel moving from vessel to vessel; or moving from an orbiting fleet to the planet below.
Description:
The Siege class Dropship is designed for the sole purpose of delivering vehicles into a landing zone, or into a drop zone; that may or may not be under fire at any given time. As such the vessel is covered in heavy armor plating as a means to protect the vehicles as they are being off loaded to ensure that they are given a fighting chance. As such the vessel is also equipped with anti-personnel and anti-vehicle laser cannons; though these are more used for limited support for the duration of the vessels landing in the specified area.
For the most part the vessel is heavy and slow due to its armor and the vehicles it carries. For this reason it is often only used between vessels or moving to a planet below from an orbiting fleet. However it does contain a hyperdrive system, though this is used more for emergency cases; likely for immediate evacuation of an area.
Its sole purpose though is none the less to carry vehicles into battle for the Omega Protectorate. While it is capable of carrying a myriad of vehicles, it is limited due to its size and the size of the vehicles it carries; as to how many vehicles it can bring to bear. Likewise an intelligent commander would ensure that there are multiple Siege class Dropships with a fleet to ensure the rapid and efficient deployment of all vehicles.
