- Rancor-Tranquillizer: An almost absurdly potent stun blaster, the SIB-24's highest power setting should be able to knock unconscious even the most heavily armoured of opponents - it is even able to bring down a thrice-cursed Rancor, though usually not in a single burst.
- Crowd Control: In addition to its more focused primary mode, the SIB-24 can unleash a broad burst of stun energy capable of knocking out entire crowds of unarmoured humanoids, making it perfect for "peacefully resolving" riots.
- Close and Personal: Very short-ranged indeed, for an energy weapon, the SIB-24 is best used in urban environments.
- Health Hazard: When used properly, the SIB-24 is just as safe as any stun blaster, but hitting an unarmoured target with a full-strength blast is liable to cause hour-long headaches, nausea, bleeding from the nose and ears, and potentially even death!
Designed as a bigger, badder, and more specialised variant of the SIB-14, the SIB-24 is amongst the most potent stun blasters ever produced for the galactic market, being far too powerful to be safely used against unarmoured humanoids (save, perhaps, a Wookie), at least when fired at full power in its Focused mode. It is, however, perfect for capturing heavily armoured adversaries, naturally-resistant beings... or both. Enter the Rancor often used in Glimmersteel's ads, though it should be noted that the short range makes actually bringing one in a rather dangerous task.
While most often wielded by corporate security and police forces, especially in a riot suppression capacity, certain militaries and militias have taken to the weapon as well, mostly on pacifistic worlds and typically supplemented by Ion weapons. Similarly, it quickly became a favourite of certain more conscientious Bounty Hunters and, less respectably, slavers seeking to capture entire villages without "damaging the goods".
This last usage is, of course, not endorsed by Glimmersteel, and the company will refuse to sell to such individuals, though the loose sales requirements make it easy enough for them to simply buy it off other customers.
