Approved Armor Siae's Boots and Gloves

DESCRIPTION
Siae constructed her boots and gloves before the Conclave's Five – the small council of its leaders – just as many Wardens before her had. Her travels, undertaken as a Padawan, had led her to hunt and slay a rancor, a taoszin, and other exotic creatures, to collect a number of materials, all for the purpose of constructing her armor. To make her boots and gloves, she used the rancor's tough leather and integrated a blend of shadowsilk and shell spider silk, together with concussive absorbing material, into the boots, making them silent and stealthy, durable, and comfortable for walking, running, fighting, or climbing. She opted for the traditional tabi-style boots worn by Conclave members, the split-toe design enabling better running and traction than more standard types, and enhanced both the gloves and boots with FrictionGrip.

Sturdy and rugged, they offered solid protection against a number of potential threats and dangers, and gave her a passive stealth enhancement, making her harder to track and quiet in her steps. They're not much beyond that, however, and lack the sort of protection that the boots of powered armor suits or other battle suits enjoy. But, for a pair of seemingly simple leather boots and gloves, they work well. The gloves' snug fit and FrictionGrip-enhanced palms and fingertips enable dexterity and a sure hold on weapons, tools, and other items or surfaces, making them suitable for a number of uses. The boots are calf height, and when binding the legs of her hakama-style trousers with puttees, guard well against getting caught or snagged or inhibiting nimble movement, while the gloves, which cover only the hands, look like the gloves often worn by drivers and racers, snug-fit and thin, yet unassumingly tough.

There's no fancy technology like the Mandalorian's crushgaunts or Cad Bane's rocket-aided flight, just sound, reliable, durable versatility, exactly the pragmatic style and philosophy of the Conclave.

SPECIAL FEATURES
Boots ~

• Quiet, Trackless Steps: Using a liner made from a blend of shadowsilk and shell spidersilk, the treadless boots leave no distinctive footprints and dampen footfalls, allowing for a good measure of silent movement and making it hard for even the most experienced trackers to follow them.

• Excellent Traction and Climbing: FrictionGrip was chosen, replacing the normal tread, but allowing for excellent traction even on wet, slippery, or uneven surfaces, and together with the tabi-style design, enables easy climbing when called upon.

• Tough Durability: Rancor hide is tough, even able to take a few hits from a blaster, much less to spend hours navigating through thorny underbrush, across jagged, rocky terrain, or sloshing through snow or brackish water. These boots are designed to be worn for the long haul, through most any environment, with concussive absorbing material padding them to cushion footfalls, even to protect from when landing after jumping from heights of several meters. The shell spider silk used in the lining further protects against cuts, punctures, or tears.

Gloves ~

• Snug-Fit and Sure Hold: Well, they fit like a glove, the thin, rancor leather gloves are designed like an infiltrator's gloves, offering tactile sensitivity and allowing for detail work, such as operating a computer, picking a lock, or anything else needing dexterity. FrictionGrip added to the palms and fingers ensures a sure and steady hold of tools, weapons, and other items, regardless of moisture.

• Tough Durability: Like her boots, Siae made her gloves using thin-layered rancor hide leather, conditioned for softness and snug-fit, but easily able to withstand cuts, abrasions, tears, punctures, and more.

STRENGTHS

• Tough Enough: Moisture resistant, flame resistant, even able to resist cutting, tearing, abrasions, punctures (including animal bites and stings), and capable of deflecting vibroweapons and small arms blaster fire, these boots and gloves are designed to handle the most rugged environments.

• Sure Steps and Steady Holds: Siae opted to use FrictionGrip in lieu of traditional tread on her boots, giving her excellent traction across most surfaces, and together with the FrictionGrip used on the gloves, these items gave her an advantage when climbing. The same texture on the palms and fingers ensures a firm, reliable grip on weapons, tools, or other things while wearing these gloves, even if objects or surfaces are wet, slippery, or coated in oil and grease.

• Where'd She Go?: By blending shadowsilk into the lining, Siae was able to dampen sounds made as she walked or ran, and again, by using FrictionGrip in lieu of traditional soles and treads, she leaves behind no discernible footprints to follow, making tracking difficult.

WEAKNESSES

• Tough, not Impregnable: Designed to guard against rough terrain and protect her from the elements, even to repel a bit from an animal or provide comfort while walking, hiking, running, or fighting, these boots and gloves aren't impervious. They won't do anything against a lightsaber, disruptor, sonic weapons, or exceptionally hot or cold temperatures. They are moisture proof, but only flame resistant, meaning that while prolonged exposure to water might be okay, prolonged exposure to flame or high heat would make short work of them. While the boots of a suit of power armor might help you if you step on a landmine, these will do nothing of the sort. While crushgaunts might let you catch a lightsaber for a moment or two, these gloves will leave you in need of a cybernetic prosthetic instead.

• Not Impossible to Track: Despite using FrictionGrip instead of traditional soles and treads, the boots are tabi-style, and the split-toe design is unmistakable, so when moving across soft surfaces like sand or mud, especially if she's very encumbered, Siae can still be tracked.
