Name: Shrine of Krul

Intent: To flesh out the canonical Lake Krul and record a location used in RP

Classification: Small Sith shrine/temple

Location: Near the center of Lake Krul, Balowa - surrounded by the bones of Sithspawn

Affiliation: Abandoned and largely unknown; may be used as a minor storage point or refuge by members of the inner circle of the Tion Hegemony.

Description: The shrine is carved from a gigantic Greater Calama shell, made of an equivalent to Hijarna stone. The entrance is a stone door, followed by a short upward tunnel into air. The door opens at the touch of a Sith Master. By obscure alchemical arts, the air remains fresh. The shrine has been used as a refuge, a shrine to the spirit of Krul, and a minor alchemical research facility. Its primary purpose is to hold Krul's armor, which is the anchor for his ghost. The armor has been studied but left in place.

Internally, the shrine's structures fit within a vertical spiral, a massive snailshell lying much as it did when the lake claimed its creator. Staircases and ladders allow progress through the rising and falling vertical portions of the shrine as a visitor approaches the center. After over five full turns, the spiral ascends into a rune-carved central vault where the armor is kept on a pedestal. The runes hold the full tale of Krul's campaign against Crian Maru, and their mutual annihilation over the lake. In a lockbox within the vault, Rave Merrill has stored her backup model of Seydon of Arda's Farwalker Armor, with a grimly worded note about the armor's deadliness to its wearer. The Farwalker Armor attracts the lake's guardians to the temple and increases their local protective presence. A Ring of Aza'zoth is also located there.

Horizontal niches in the stone can accommodate blankets, bedrolls, air mattresses and so forth, but only for a handful of persons. Anyone intending to make it past the lake's vicious guardians -- hssiss, mostly -- for a visit to the shrine must also bring whatever provisions are necessary, including waste reclamators, food storage, light and heating. A few very small hidden holocams record visitors and transmit activity to a taozin-nodule-shielded receiver buried a few hundred metres away in the lakebed.

History: Lake Krul on Balowa is a common place to find Sithspawn, among them the Greater Calama. One Greater Calama, grown to immense size on the twisted foliage of the lakeshore, eventually died in the water, and its shell sank in silt. At some point in the ensuing centuries, Kaox Krul's armor was relocated inside the shell, and the shell was converted into a subterranean shrine and refuge. It has been rediscovered by various pilgrims who have braved the lake's depths in an attempt to find the resting place of the ancient combatants. It was most recently rediscovered by Rave Merrill and Jacen Cavill in their search for Krul's armor. After studying it, with respect to the spirit, they left, and the Shrine of Krul faded into obscurity once more.
