  • Glorious Thorn - The tractor beams are what give the Shrike its combat doctrine, holding enemies in place for their imminent destruction.
  • Full Stop - The full power of it's defensive capabilities are active once it has come to a full stop.
  • Just Charge It - Molecular Shielding aids in defense by leaching power from common weapons systems set against it.
  • Bringing Some Friends - Each Shrike carries two battalions of troops and a handful of light assault vehicles.

  • I Said Full Stop - Must come to a complete stop to activate it's powerful shields.
  • Bar Fight - The Shrike Vessels are not meant to go it alone, as the rear of the vessel is a glaring weak spot in both armor, and weapon placement.
  • No Sharp Turns - These are patrol and assault craft, meant to get into the thick of it, or deter would be trouble. They will never beat a smaller vessel, and some larger ones, in a turning race.
  • Low Fighter Compliment - A large vessel such as this one gave up a lot to field troops and armor, and a large hangar was one of those things. Enough space was found across four places in the ventral sections just outside of the loading ramps.

The Shrike-class Star Cruiser was designed as a long term patrol craft, to work in either pairs or trio's to avoid being singled out and deter would be troublemakers. Most assigned to the vessels can agree that they appreciate the thought from the designers and builders in making these vessels. The up-scaled mess halls, training rooms, and crew compartments from what most would call galactic standard, add to the comforts those on extended patrols across sectors can expect. A healthy supply of vitals for a year's journey with fully manned stations, an air filtration system that is superior to most common systems, and a smooth ride to boot make this vessel decently friendly for those assigned to one.

On the other end of the spectrum, heavy armor plating, numerous shield generators, and generous weapons layout provide this patrol craft with the punch it needs to do it's job and take a few punches in kind. Some long range capabilities enable the vessel to force fleeing vessels to turn and lose distance to avoid sustaining heavy turbolaser fire, and decent speed also compliments this. Where this vessel truly shines though is in the doctrine it was designed for.

Once an enemy vessel is locked via tractor beam, the vessel slows to a stop, activating it's fortress program and amplifying the shields already abundant on the vessel. Then the bombardment begins until the process is finished and repeated. A healthy complement of organic and droid troops also allow the vessel to capture enemy vessels that either surrender, or are forcibly boarded. Six ion drives give the large vessel speed, but that forward momentum does take away from its ability to turn. These ships are purpose built, to chase and catch those that would cause trouble and deal with them swiftly.
