It was a quiet night in the understreets of Coruscant, at least as quiet as it could be in such a bustling and dirty place. The usual sounds were there, whores showing their wares, drug-addicts begging for credits and the whispers of the thugs in the alleyways. Once he had called this his home, the whores had been known to him and the thugs had feared him even before his transformation. But that time had long since past, the familiar faces were gone and the streets looked queer to him, almost as if they did not fit the mental image he had in his mind. Walking the route to his old safe-house he noticed how much he had grown in the short time he had been in the Fringe.

And then he had it, it all looked so much smaller than it had in the past. A part of him was saddened because of it, but another part only laughed. He had outgrown this place and that made him feel free, free of all the burdens he once had carried with him. The rest of the trip he walked with a sudden giddy stride and a song on his lips.

But never did he lose his caution, for with all his knowledge even now a dagger between his ribs would be the end of him and the Lord of the Fringe was not planning on dying yet. After a few long minutes he finally arrived at his home, swiftly he entered it and closed the door behind him.

There were a great many ways to hide in the force, but Anaya's choice was through Sith Magic. Hidden in the force she followed Jared, keeping out of his sight at all times. When he disappeared into a house, she waited a few moment before dropping from her vantage point above, landing neatly a few feet from the door. A breif meeting in a pub had meant the exchange of false names, but both were part of the Fringe once, and there was little knowledge that escaped Anaya.

His name was Jared, not Gareth and he had been Spencer's apprentice. His elevation to Master had happened rapidly, much like her own, so it was only natural that Anaya was curious. Whether Spencer had informed Jared of Anaya's true name and self was another matter. Regardless, he would find out today, just as she would find out how he had turned out. This would not be a fight to the death, merely Anaya pressing buttons to see what she was up against. A whispered word removed her cloak in the force, her dark signature flared, its presence screaming to any force sensitives.

That was Jared's only warning.

A kinetite ball formed in her hand crackling and sparking before she launched it at the front door, shattering it upon impact. Passerby's screamed and fled. They would only have a short while before the Jedi would come. Both saber's ignited with a hiss.

The sudden presence of a familiar force signature made him curse, he had not been paying attention close enough and he would now pay the price for that. Turning around he was hit in the face by the flying debris of the exploding door, the force made him fly right into the viewscreen that was playing an obscure holomovie just a second ago. A cough escaped Jared's mouth as he carefully stood up and dusted himself off, his eyes narrowed as he noticed his would-be assailant. Then a smile appeared on his lips, lightning his face up as he said: “My dear Apoleia, or should I call you Anaya?” his tongue clicked in his mouth as he inspected the damage caused by the explosion. “Really, you should have just knocked, I fancied that door.”

It seemed the twi'lek had found out that he was not a simple wanderer who loved to save beautiful women in bars and some part of him was concerned about that. Spencer had told him quite a lot about her nemesis and everything pointed towards the fact that she was quite the dangerous thing.

He would not deceive himself, she was more than he could handle that much was for sure. Even his Master had had troubles with fighting this woman off, still the fact that he was still alive gave him some sort of hope. Might be she was not here to kill him anyway, still the ignited lightsabre in her hand made him reconsider that line of thought. With a chuckle he ignited his own sabre and with a strained gesture he attempted to collapse the beam on Anaya. There was little chance that it would hit her, but even if it did it would not do much damage. It would just give him enough time to consider his plan of action.

Anaya paced outside the door waiting for him to appear, her movements cat like. She was a predator of the worst kind, she liked to play with her prey. Her lips curled into a smile at his response to her blowing the door to peices. "Anaya will do just fine Jared. I'm not hiding who I am today and nor should you." she stopped pacing, twin sabers pointed to the ground either side of her. She tilted her head, red eyes glowing with amusement. She saw the gesture and felt the shift in the force above her. Three quick steps backwards and the beam hit the ground before her.

"Come now, Jared." she said lightly "Spencer taught you better than that surely?" The beam before her rose with a small gesture in her fingers. It hovered between them for a moment. "Show me what she made of you." The light tone vanished from her voice and she pushed the beam towards him.

A chuckle escaped his mouth as he crouched low, barely missing the beam. It crashed into the wall behind him, creating even more damage that there was. "After this is all done, you will owe me a dinner with all the damage done to my home." he said with a wink. Gingerly he walked towards Anaya, it seemed as if he was gliding over the floor never making any noise nor leaving footprints. His free hand motioned towards the remains of the door and wall, making it levitate; sharp nails, wooden splinters the size of a small fist and other rubble pointed itself towards the Twi'lek and then flew.

It was a wide field, hard to dodge, but not deadly. Just a payback for the broken door, nothing more than that.

Anaya raised her arm to protect her face against the debris, not bothering to dodge or deflect it. The small stings it gave her only served to fuel her anger and make her all the more deadly. "I will owe you nothing." It was clear he was unwilling to make any decent attack. Anaya would have to force him to retaliate properly. Reaching her hands behind her she seized two large rubbish containers and flung them towards Jared, ensuring they blocked his vision of her for a brief second.

A second was all she needed to push herself deeper into the darkside and bring energy coursing through her once more, erupting from her fingertips in the form of red lightening, converging on Jared from every angle.

He had not been expecting to get something thrown against his head, as such the containers hit him right on his forehead. Suddenly the image of Ashin appeared to him during one of their training lessons. Force Lightning had come easy to him, but his power had been at a minimum. She had told him that he would have to feel the touch of Lightning before he could truly Master it, but refused to touch him herself. He had wondered why back then, but some part of him understood now as the loving caress of the red lightning stroked his skin. During the invasion of the Protectorate his knowledge had been basic, but now? Now he knew some tricks he had not known then.

The lightning raged inside of him, with some mental effort he collected it all and pushed it out of him through his hands.. right back at Anaya, he fed the lightning his pain, his hate and his anger to make it stronger.

Anaya stopped the barrage of lightening as it came flying back at her. Bringing her sabers before her in an 'x' she deflected the energy away from her a smile forming on her lips. "Better!" she called over the cracks of energy. Still deflecting, she inched forward, forcing Jared's own lightning back upon him, bringing herself closer for lightsaber combat.

This time he was ready for her, he grabbed hold of the Lightning and absorbed it. His hand burned, but inside he felt more alive than he had in a long time. Unlimited Power he thought for a short second, before chastising himself for his recklessness. He used a small portion of the energy to patch himself up, the rest he throw against Anaya. "Oh yeah? How do you like this noise." he said as he pushed against her with the Force. Say one thing about Jared Ovmar, say he does not fall into the same trap twice.

Anaya let the force push carry her backwards, anchoring her feet to the ground she she merely slid a few feet away, her knees bent slightly against the energy. She stood up straight again, lips curled into a mocking smile. "You're dissapointing me, Jared. I had such high expectations for someone who climbed as high as quickly as you did. It seems you are just another nobody, trying to be a somebody." She deactivated her sabers and slunk towards him once more.

"You could be a somebody, Jared. I could make you a somebody. Spencer will only hold you back." She was pushing buttons now, testing the reaction, using words as a distraction to get closer to him. How much had he really learnt?

He only snorted. "If there is one thing I have learned in my short life, it is that if you want something you take it yourself. Otherwise it is never truly yours to begin with." his fingers crackled with the black energy of his own lightning. His head tilted slowly as he regarded the progress she was making, he wondered if she truly thought he was that stupid as he casually flicked the black lightning at her.

"Might be I will be more inclined to listen after both our asses are kicked." he added with a shrug as he looked upon the path the thunder was taking.

One saber hissed to life in her hand, deflecting the lightening from her again. She smiled through the dark energy as it crackled away from them both, she continued her advance, hoping that Jared wasn't a one trick pony. Lightening only got you so far after all. The second saber ignited in her hand, as she closed the gap, sweeping up from the left to slash from Jared's hip to opposite shoulder.

Quickly he grabbed for the Lightsabre that came in to cut him into pieces, the blade burned his hand but it was worth it. Fresh energy rushed into him and he used it for a Force-Enhanced kick in the direction of Anaya's belly. His side was dangerously open for her second lightsabre now, he was not sure if he would be able to hold two lightsabres at once.. would be interesting to see.

Anaya twisted, letting the kick sail past her, leaving Jared off balance. Deactivating both blades she seized his leg with the force and pulled, seeking to bring him to the floor. Her left hand swung a lightsaber hilt for his face.

There was not much Jared could do beside fall, but even that could be used to his advantage. Noticing what the twi'lek was aiming for, he augmented his momentum with the Force and strengthened the bones in his face. Then he headbutted the hilt with his forehead, aiming for a disarm. His face would hurt like crazy, might be he would need some healing to save his beautiful face. But that was a matter for another time.

His head butt smashed her fingers between skull and hilt, shattering bones. Anaya screamed both in pain and fury as the hilt skittered from her broken fingers and bounced across the floor. She had not time to pause, no time to think about the damage done. such a distraction would cost her greatly. She swung a powerful kick for his ribs, igniting her other sabre she brought it down in a decapitating swing.

She'd had no intention of killing him, but then he broke her fingers and the game changed.

His head smashed against the Twi'lek's finger with a satisfying crunch, not that he could enjoy it for very long. As soon as he regained his balance, she kicked him right in the ribs, breaking a couple of them instantly. Air left his lungs and he had to use the Force to regain most of his composure, it was more by instinct then anything else that he raised his arm against her swing. At that moment he was happy that he had trained under Spencer, otherwise his arm or head would have been removed.

Quickly he skidded back, putting some distance between the two of them. Pain filled him as he felt the damage that had been done by her kick, his left arm was scorched but largely intact. Then he felt the pain radiating from her and a smile appeared on his face, it made him feel strangely.. happy. His eyes flashed yellow as he suddenly created something in his hand. A construct of dark energy, fueled by the hatred that had festered deep inside of him.. and the pain that he felt coming from her and from him. A Darkshear, some called a Spear of Midnight Black, he had learned this skill from his Master as well.

With an almost casual expression on his face he threw the spear at his opponent almost as soon as it appeared in his hand. The rules had changed, Spencer had warned him for her. His demise was a probability, but he would make her pay dearly for his skin.

Anaya felt it, she felt the shift from balance and watched with a wry smile as Jared fell, tumbling into the darkness. Her work here was almost done. She advanced as the spear began to form, there was always a danger in letting Spencer get far from her, she was not about to let the same happen with her student. The spear flew and Anaya ducked beneath it, her own construct forming in her hand. The ball of kinetite flew for Jared's stomach, with Anaya close in its wake.

There was no absorbing this, there was no deflecting, there was only dodging, and wherever he went, Anaya would be there to meet him. She seized her fallen lightsaber in the force, squeezing the activation switch and sending it to the right of the ball, cutting off that route.

He saw what she was trying to do, cutting off his way to the right to make sure he had only three options left to him. Jump, duck or go.. well left. Jumping did not make any sense, she was not underestimating him in any way and if he could avoid having to spent the rest of his life in some black BDSM suit with air support.. well he would grab that chance. So that left him with going left or ducking, the later might be too slow, seeing as the ball was aimed to his gut. As such he went with the only way left to him.. he dodged left and immediately lashed out with a barrage of Force Lightning from his free hand, hoping to avoid being gutted by some unknown trick.

Anaya retaliated with her own lightening, red and black clashed together in an explosion of noise. Huge sparks exploded from the epicentre striking buildings around them. Windows shattered, balconies began to crumble and the screams of passerbys were symphonies to Anaya's ears and as the world seemed to crumble around them she could only smile in response. Anaya pushed with the lightening, driving the collision of red and black towards him.

Anaya had been playing with lightening her entire fighting life, it was one of two force powers that she excelled in. Jared had chosen the wrong day to truly learn how to use it.
