Short-stack Brawl

Location: The Rest Gardens
Objective: Training (?)

Charlie knelt beside one of the larger trees that resided in the rest garden, she had finished her studies early and wanted to see what the outside was like. She had been so focused on reading on Mandalorian history for so long that it was starting to make her mind turn to Beskar. On top of the studying she had run out of sweet cakes, so there was another annoyance tacked on to the Padawan’s list. It had been some time since Master Nooran had run her lightsaber training class, since then Charlie had adopted a pair of hammers along with her lightsaber.

The hammers fit her Ataru saber form, along with the end goal for the padawan in combat. With her species having an affinity to strength, the twin hammers that were usually wielded one at a time was an easy pick up for the girl. It also made her feel a bit special, not always relying on a lightsaber. The hammers rested before her as she sat down under the shade of the tree. She examined them and turned them over. Having to be careful, Charlie needed to avoid hitting them together or against the ground. The last thing she needed was to send a powerful sonic shockwave into the ground and take down a tree or worse part of the temple.

The afternoon was turning to be boring and she hoped something interesting would come along.

The Rest always felt much emptier than it was. hundreds of people at any given time, and yet other than nodding to a fellow Padawan as they passed in one of the paths she very nearly saw no one else as she made her way through the rest gardens. The gardens was something of a last resort. Somewhere to meditate in times of great stress and also as a place where the young Mirialan could study in relative peace.

Yet activity could be seen and heard amidst the trees and courtyards of the gardens, and beyond them, as well, there were connections. A pair of Knights having a discussion in the shade; several more reading or just enjoying the afternoon. Much less constrained emotions rolled off the group of younglings playing across the courtyard, kicking a ball between them.

Everything had a presence in the force and Saka was connected to it all.

None of it exactly perfect, none of it forming any kind of strict pattern, but it felt right. The imperfections were what made it beautiful. The slight cramp in the Knight’s shoulder that she was gamely attempting to ignore for her new Padawan’s sake; the Master on the other side of the courtyard who was too exhausted to focus on what he was reading but was attempting to make sense of it anyway. Even the unexplained annoyance spiking from a familiar face sat by herself.

This was right, the Force whispered. And it was part of her, always. She wasn’t alone. This was life. Beautiful by virtue of existence.

“Hey,” Saka said by way of greeting. “Catch,” she called out to Charlie, throwing a Twinkie over to her.

Despite being a Jedi and having the all-powerful force flowing through her, when Charlie was deep in thought nothing could penetrate. Her mind was racking over how she was going to convince Jyoti to order in more treats, especially after having brought in earlier in the week. As she thought, the sweet cake flew and smacked her square in the forehead. As it landed, the Seoulian girl’s eyes grew wide and she was blessed.

Looking up, she half expected her Master, yet instead she met the green faced Saka. A toothy grin spread across Charlie’s face as she nodded. “Thank you! How did you know I was wanting one?” She opened the package and took a large bite and hummed happily showing her appreciation of the treat.

“What have you been up to Saka?” Remembering the slew of potty words the girl had her ear droid translate back on Commenor, she leaned forward and blinked with concern. “Did your master wash out your mouth and stuff?”

"I noticed how much you liked them when we've been in class together, and of course during that whole sordid affair at Commenor," Saka replied mildly, offering the Seoulian a small nod of acknowledgment as she joined Charlie underneath the tree. The siege of Commenor still leaned heavily on her thoughts which were still plagued with the terrifying memories of how she felt millions of lives get snuffed out in mere moments.

"Well... not too much really, i've been training and studying under master Iakchi," there was delicate laughter at the mention of Sakas choice words back in the Commenori sewers.

"Fortunately not, though i do believe master Iakchi does not care much for use of profanity."

Charlie sat happily under the tree with her friend and she nodded. She was pretty sure Jyoti didn’t mind either, though she never cursed in front of the woman – so it would be something she needed to test out very soon. A hand rubbed her chin as she nodded remembering Commenor, the whole situation was a mess especially after the Queen surrendered the people of the planet to the Sith.

As much as she wanted to judge the woman, she couldn’t. She wasn’t in her shoes and needed to feel some sympathy to her. Charlie stopped thinking back and tried to focus on the present. Looking towards Saka she grinned. “I bet you if we did get to fight the sith I would have taken down more than you. You looked like you were scared in those tunnels, scardy loth cat.”

"Are you sure about that? i don't think training bags are quite the same as a blood thirsty Sith knight who wants nothing more then to cut you in half for his Emperor." She retorted back with a smirk, resting her hands on her lap while quietly observing everything that went on around them.

"I'm never scared, only when Iakchi tries to hug me after a hunt, have you smelt a Wookiee up close after he's spent all the afternoon in a swamp?" Saka remarked wryly, making a mocking impression of sickness to the Seoulian.
