"Indeed. I don't exactly trust the Silvers to keep myself or my company safe. They can't even control their own people let alone try to shield a bunch of others. Likewise,I don't trust every corporation out there. Hell, I don't trust a majority of them."


Most seem to be ran by Sith or Jedi, both equally terrible at rational and cohesive thought in his opinion. Not to mention the high number of backstabbers and underhanded small-time owners that would stop at nothing to get at the top of the trash heap. Keeping the circle small and quiet would make the most sense for now.


"Sounds like a plan. Start scooping up decorated naval officers now before a full scale war hits the galaxy once again. I say we start with a solid base and expand slowly. "

"Agreed, on both counts. I'm not the most trusting person. Too much backstabbing going on in many boardrooms. And I wouldn't want to be get entangled in a war started by someone with more credits than brains," Siobhan responded to Judah's points about the Silvers and many of their colleagues in the business world. Siobhan trusted few, and it seemed to her that the corporate world was swamped by a higher number of Jedi and Sith.


The latter were the most annoying because they usually had cover identities, which meant that you could not just chop their heads off or always avoid them. It seemed like everyone wanted to be a Plagueis or a Sidious wannabe.


"I'll make enquiries about suitable personnel and hit up Gould. She's retired, but still consults for us and I go way back with her mentor." She mainly had her eye on former ODF and SSC folks, but former officers of the Atrisian Empire might be suitable, too. Those who hadn't besmirched their honour by joining the First Order.


"Lately, Firemane's been in touch with Aurora. Much to my surprise, Taeli Raaf seems like a reasonable, practical woman, despite being a Jedi. Perhaps someone to include in the future. We'll have to see how things go." Couple weeks later the Silver Jedi Order dominioed Hast.

"A Jedi? Can we trust they won't carpet bomb a planet?" Grim jokes aside, he had some serious questions. "A Jedi could be useful, don't they have some type of code, right? Wouldn't she have to choose between her code and loyalties? Well....I suppose all of us do that on a daily basis, Jedi just seem a bit more conflicted about it."


"Can't say I have any contact with old military types, but I'll refer to your judgement on this."

"They do. So much depends on the grand master of the week. For an order, they're very unpredictable," Siobhan replied cynically. "It's why I left them. Well, there were many reasons for that. She seemed more like a conventional businesswoman during our chat, but that's only a first impression. The Jedi Code kind of prohibits pursuing personal wealth and probably frowns on designing weapons for the market. Doesn't seem Jedi-like to me honestly."


Of course, as Siobhan knew, the Code also forbid Jedi from seeking political power, which had not stopped many of them in the past. The Silver Jedi were not the first Jedi theocracy in history and would not be the last.


"Anyhow, I'll see how my future contacts with her develop. I like to get to know a person more before I give them my trust. I wouldn't want to be friends with unpredictable jihadits or closeted Sith either," she said wryly. "All in all, I think you and I are on the same page."

"Closeted Sith? Might be a bad time to tell you my secret identity, Lord Villam. Striking fear in the hearts of thousands of backwater citizens. Former farmboy and businessman by day, horrific Sith by night. Its been incredibly tiring actually. One rarely find time to sleep."


A boyish grin spread across his features.


"In all seriousness, we are on the same page. Looking to expand in the area, lots of territory north of here thats just going neglected. It'll be even more important to have our ducks in a row."

Lord Villlam! It wasn't that bad a name for a supervillain. Certainly better than 'General Grievous'. Siobhan raised an amused eyebrow. "No one would suspect the shaggy farmboy! I was about to say that you're looking a little pale. The Dark Side is bad for your complexion!" the Countess joked. This was incredibly ironic, coming from her.


"Got your mind on anything in particular in the north? Primeval's collapse has opened up a lot of territory that hasn't seen much development. Bastards did a serious number on Telos and Mirial," she said thoughtfully when they returned to serious talk. Personally, she had her eye on doing business with the Mandalorian Crusaders. She didn't like them, but they had new leadership that seemed less...erratic and chaotic than the previous one, if her sources were correct.

"Telos is on the list. Farana is probably going to be our first stop. Thinking about putting another space station together, this time in the Parthovian Cluster. Anything along the Hydian Way and above I think will be my focus. Its been abandoned. Mandos are nearby but I don't have as much as a negative opinion of them as I do the Silver Jedi. Not that I agree with either one, really......At least the Mandos haven't bombed innocents lately."


Shoulders shrugged.


"I can take warriors over some mystics following an invisible power."

"Yes, it's been a long while since they chucked asteroids. They've been behaving since then," Siobhan said with cynical gallow's humour. In all fairness, once upon a time the Eldorai almost exterminated a sentient race in a genocidal holy war. So yeah, it seemed that war crimes were par for the course.


Such a sad, bleak galaxy. "I'm not too familiar with Farana and the Parthovian Cluster, but moving up the Hydian sounds like a plan to me. Last I heard, ATC built a new Citadel station in Telos' orbit. If you need more help with security, you know who to call."


She adjusted her Southern belle hat slightly. "Speaking of Mandalorians, I've got my eyes on the Crusaders' market. They've got new leadership that seems less erratic than before. I woke up [member="HK-36"] from his long slumber since his coffin was gathering dust. We'll probably work on some new projects for ARGH." Speaking of the coffin, it had been misplaced once.
