Ships of Legend: Chaos Edition

We've all trembled before the Death Star.

Since we were young, we've watched in awe as the massive ships fill the big screen. Legends, each and every one, that deserve quests to claim here on Chaos. But, since the board's inception, we've also stood in awe of the greats. From the early days of the Republic to now, we've seen some phenomenal ships come and go.

And it's a shame that the newest generation of Chaos writers hasn't heard of them.

So what I'd like to do is gather 'round the campfire and share those stories. If you know of a Ship of Legend, tell us about it! Where is it now? How did it influence the tides of battle? What escapades did it get into? I'm eager to hear - and I'm sure a lot of us are too!

Trivia: - The Republic Flagship during the Clockwork Rebellion Galactic Event of 835 ABY was the Salvation-Class Star Defender "Gravity Hurts". A technological achievement of her year post-Gulag Plague. She crowned at 2000 meters in length, had a Class 3 Hyperdrive rating, and could field over 200 fighters at once. :p

Honorable Mention: - The 4000 meter Omega Protectorate command ship, The Leviathan

Honorable Mention: - Ayden Cater's, The Starfall. Of Omega Pyre.

The most important step is always the next one
The Mythosaur. One of, if not the biggest Mandalorian starship ever fielded and the culmination of several "Carrier" class starships built by the Mandalorians during the "How many starfigters can I put on this ship" meta of the Sith Imperial war. The 3.5 Kilometer ship was able to field over 400 starfighters at once and had a 1.5 Hyperdrive ratting.

The ship, famously captained by Waid be Larraq, used its tractor beams to ferry a number of asteroids into the Sith Empire's capitol during one of the final battles of the Sith Imperial war sending the planet into a mini ice age.

It was lost when the Mandalorians changed their name from "United Mandalorian Clans" to "The Mando'ade" due to some strange OOC bureaucratic...stuff and has no IC resolution.

The Shev'la Kal was an amazing feat of Mandalorian engineering. With the help of the Bard of the Hyperlanes MandalMotors constructed one of the first cloaked capital ships since the Gulag Plague. While it didn't see much battle due to its extremely specialized weapon layout and the power draw the cloaking system had on the ship it still holds a special place in the history of Mandalore's Golden Age where their starship technology was leaps and bounds ahead of similarly sized and sometimes even larger Galactic factions, proving to the Galaxy that Mandalorians did more than shoot things and headbut each other. Currently docked in MandalMotors' Aeten II facility Location 6

The Starship Yo-Yo a republic flagship won in dark harvest that I think has transferred hands through nearly every major faction at one point in time before it got destroyed. The Shepard, Spirit of Drunkenwell ah other names for the different factions it was in. Think at one point Metus installed a massive fish tank on it.

http://starwarsrp.net/topic/2684-the-starfall/ Massively influential on years of ship design. Showed up everywhere, back when power projection was more of a thing, and commanders took more risks. Took a glancing hit from a Sith battleship's attempted ram at the Battle of Roche. Pretty sure it was central to the Omega/Republic brouhaha at Dark Harvest: Dead Space. Eventually destroyed when it rammed a One Sith facility on occupied Coruscant, during one of the unsuccessful liberation attempts. Far as I'm concerned, the Starfall is the most legendary ship on Chaos.

One of the first ‘event ships,’ Sirella Valkner’s Dzu’ari is pretty much unmatched as a supercarrier. The Dzu'ari was a major presence in Sith Empire operations after the Battle of Roche. During the Sith Empire's collapse, various Sith made it vanish. It eventually made its way to the Lords of the Fringe before falling off the map again. Rumor placed it here and there in connection with the Primeval and the One Sith - a relic and a trophy, rarely used to its full potential. Sirella Valkner reclaimed her flagship at some point, presumably to refit the glorious old boat and find a government willing to bankroll it. For now, the Dzu'ari remains a vestige of the Sith Empire’s glory days, an elegant weapon from a more civilized age.

I'd add the 6km Shepherd/Tranquility/Emperor's Shield/Spirit of Druckenwell.

Less due to its prominence in battles, since I don't recall it seeing much use outside of the Druckenwell invasion between the Omega Protectorate and the CIS, and the Omega Event, where it went out with a bang. But more due to its long odyssey from one faction to the next.

Built by the Republic for the Jedi Order, handed over to the CIS to avert war after the Contruum auction incident. Heisted by a group of contractors for the Atrisian Empire. Then it disappeared after the Atrisian Empire was assimilated by the Lords of the Fringe, and reappeared as a Omega Protectorate ship in time for Druckenwell. Finally met its end at the Omega fleet battle, after being passed from faction to faction like a bad penny, being retiffed many times and undergoing several name changes.

[member="Darth Metus"] Would the Jupitus count? If not, what would make the Jupitus, well, not a ship of legend?

Also, the Itsukusk. Even though it was deployed only twice in a PvP setting (Ison and L-49), it's still the only flagship ever subbed under 3.0, and with a discount because of the Omega reward.

The Obscurity.

Personal flagship of Darth Vazela. Publicly known as Darth Pazela if I remember right.

Originally a one off build. The Obscurity's design was used to make the Attrition-Class Light Star Destroyer. The class is notable for being stealth capable. But they are lesser to the originals Stygian based cloaking system.

The Obscurity pretty much followed it's master around as he helped the Sith Empire in Dominions and on his own personal business. To my knowledge the ship did not take part in any major engagements. It was years ago when this ship was active though. So perhaps I've just forgotten if it did. I've taken interest in this ship because my own writer, Hawke. Was once a prisoner aboard her. Lashing out against a Sith Lord is not a bright idea unless you can really back it up. The last I know of the ship is right there in it's factory submission, which I should add was salvaged by Vanessa Vantai (I believe it was them, they resubbed it) from a dark and terrible event known as "The Purge" or the great loss. A lot of posts were lost when that happened. Lets hope it never will again. Anyways, After Emperor Ardik of the 1st Sith Empire was deposed in a coup. Vazela abandoned the Empire and took the Obscurity with him to parts unknown. While it has shown up from time to time as Vazela himself does. The Obscurity lives up to it's name. Remaining hidden somewhere in the Galaxy.

One can imagine though that the ship is nonoperational as of now. With the passage of time since it was last used, and with board rules dictating any ship above 1000m needs to be in a major faction. Unless he returns, then The Obscurity is likely to stay missing too.

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
Gotta plug the Starfall bandwagon here.

For a time, back before the ratings system, it was gun-for-meter the most powerful ship on the board by a fairly significant margin. Not even the Astral Horizon came close to the same ratio. Which, speaking of legendary ships, that thing is my damn white whale.

Aye the Druckenwell. I'll have to give props to that one - the others I think were before my time.
