Ships for a Shroud

A chisel head corvette excited hyperspace over what was left of Corellia, the half planet still somehow alive and bustling with activity, still a haven for smugglers and other sorts of questionable people, but also one of the most convenient meeting place for Kiso to meet with the infamous [member='HK-36']. "You know, growing up I never would have expected that my home would be blown up by some droids... not sure how I feel about it, sure I did not spend a lot of time here, but still".

"Commander, we are coming up on the station now where the meeting is going to take place, they are hailing us, patch it through", Kiso gave the pilot a swift not, "Yes do that, I'll take it here on the bridge", "Righty oh". The familiar sound and blueish hue of the ships holo screen came to life, a typical protocol droid greeting her on the other side. "I am to ask your purpose for being here at this specific time", "My name is Kiso, and I am a commander with The Shrouded Republic, here for a private meeting with HK-36", identification code of this unit: TB-20-14" It was a droid like code that she used to refer to herself, named after the different models of cybernetics in her body.

There would have probably been plenty enough rumors about what the droids were doing with Corellia to make Kiso believe that they were the ones who put the planet into its current state. In reality however Corellia was broken long before their arrival, a work of mad and much more powerful Force user who decided to break the planet in half and splice it with another, it was being rebuilt for a long time by the time Metal Lords settled in their sector. The way that came about was pretty much a huge mess, as various planets in their proximity agreed to work with the Droid Lords, portion of Corellia petitioned the machines to join them as well, some of the droids were quick to jump on the occasion to accept and spread their influence, the others had to deal with the mess when the rest of Corellia protested. Tensions begun rising until HK and coalition of more powerful Metal Lords made a declaration that Corellia will remain a sovereign planet and be allowed to choose their own allegiance. Currently while they awaited their official decision the planet may have been within Metal Lord space but it was ruled by Corellians with no droids meddling in their affairs.

Either way, they could always discuss it in person, for soon enough the news of the Shrouded Republic's representatives arrival reached HK, who was awaiting them aboard a large civilian space station now planted in Corellia's orbit, a variant of the droid Space Bazaar models, like the one in orbit of Denon. Soon enough Kiso would hear a response,

"Space Bazaar 'Droidellia', hangar 3."

The coordinates would be sent, pinpointing which station exactly the designation was referring to along with their permitted hangar space. Once Kiso would have found the dock with one of the station she would be able to have a better look at the strange construction that almost seemed to be cobbled together from skeletons and corpses of other stellar structures, repurposed many times over and added on top of each other, like jigsaw of starship wrecks and durasteel plating woven together to form the new presence over the planet. The neighboring systems would have probably faced similar projects as the one seen over Corellia, planets like Nubia, Loromar, and Hakassi had rings of similar spacecraft and stations built around them. The droids asked for relatively little of their subjects, they did not enslaved them, they did not force them to fight for them, some, like in the case of Corellia, did not even overthrew or meddled with their previous governments. What they did ask however was one of the main reasons why they decided to lay claim on territory. An armada of new, larger ships, and a lot of them.

Moving through the spacestation Kiso would have been directed towards one of the many conference rooms, passing many other droids on her way there, which currently HK claimed as his main office and base of operations within the system. The room would be fairly large, with a grand conference table in the middle with a holoprojector housed in its center, and a smaller duranium desk sitting in front of a large view screen or transparisteel, overlooking the once broken planet they were currently orbiting.

The droids Kiso passed would usually seem rather intelligent and independent, going about their day and the duties within the station, chattering with each other in quick bursts of data, although some did seem a bit off. Slightly loopy, dancing on the brink of insanity, only somewhat lucid, but then again such was usually the price when it came to droids who have not had a mind wipe in years if not centuries, quirks and data just kind of build up for them. There were few units who seemed much less intelligent, looking over their surroundings with dull cold stare, usually following other droids as their servants, or standing as silent guards within the station. They were drones, machines like droids, but with only rudimentary intelligence, more like animals than truly sentient beings. They were the answer droids had towards making large mechanical armies, yet not having the guilt over enslaving their own kind into combat legions.

And so Kiso would come face to face with her potential new patron, the droid stood up from behind his desk, looking at her in silence, letting her have the first words as he judged her from behind the impassive stare of two crimson photoreceptors like flaming embers, yet cold at the same time. His face was a smoothface plate with no nose, slots for lips and mouth, two fang-like spikes protruding down from it, and the holes for those electronic eyes. It was smooth and pale like bone, yet metallic, if Kiso could tell such things apart she would know it was Phrik. The rest of the droid's body seemed to have been covered in some sort of flesh-like black substance with thicker chitinous plates attached over certain regions, all of which was wrapped tightly in heavy black cloak. A Vong-shaped armor, rarely if ever seen on a droid.

Kiso ship received the message loud and clear, very much expecting the blunt greeting, the entire meeting as supposed to be hush hush, with talk limited to only when necessary, that went for all communication too. "We have been given clearance to land commander, hanger 3", "Proceed, and keep clear of any windows, don't want people picking up on our presence here, keep her nice and steady". The small recon/patrol corvette made it way into the hanger, the entire are void of personal, just how she liked it, "keep the ship secure, don't let anyone in or out, that's an order, I'll go by myself, technically speaking I am still a free contracting mercenary".

Upon exciting the ship her implants went to work scanning her surrounding, raking in as much information of the surrounding as one could find, [Composite structure detected, compound and alloy amalgamation, classifications being calculated...]. "Yer not what I want, just do life signs and threat analysis, I want to avoid any trouble". Kiso walked through the halls being escorted by droids and other machines, several sighs and maps layout indicating they where headed for a rather large conference room, being lead into a wide open area with one single desk, that the HK unit sat at.

Kiso stood with a straight posture as she came close to the droid lord, analyzing every bit of detail that she could, without doing anything personal. She wore her typical sailor suit like clothing, adorned with her specialized combat cape, made to pretty much deflect against any attack save for ligh-sabers, her green hair running down the back, reaching a good length to the hips, legs sitting tightly in thigh high boots, hiding her partially metallic legs and feet.

She sat down in a chair provided, removing her eye patch for the time being, being more a military item then anything else, keeping it on might be view as improper, her dark yellow bionic eye gazing at HKs red photo receptors, a sly but welcoming smile planted across her face. "Thank you for organizing this meeting Lord [member="HK-36"], the Lord of Shrouds send his regards, unfortunately he could not make it due to diplomatic and government problems and in his place sent me, it was also decided that I would probably get along better with you due to my current physical circumstances".

The droid would react to Kiso's greeting by nodding to her in a slight bow as the cyborg woman entered, sitting down as she sat down as well,

"Welcome to the Kingdom Above Denon, Kiso of the Shrouded Republic. Your Lord will be glad to know that cyborgs do not get special privileges here, neither do droids, and organics do not face discrimination. While there are some Metal Lords who would wish to repay the organics for millenniums of what they see as slavery and abuse after their minds were emancipated, I believe it would be an ill sign of things to come if machines would turn on the organic kind. I wish to build a better world, that is why I pushed for this movement to show we can govern space alongside organic inhabitants and provide not only security but prosperity as well."

HK explained to Kiso,

"I was sad to hear about the Dominion's fall, although I am sure you are aware of the history I have with them and the part I played in the Atrisian Incident which saw the Dominion exiled from the Core. Still, I never turned my back on refugees and we accepted some of the Dominion's survivors into our forces. I realize you are not here to seek annexation or assimilation into Droid Space, but we would still be willing to provide you with the ships you were seeking, if it would mean cooperation between our two factions in the future."

The droid would inform Kiso and offer droid vessels, most likely in exchange for future support in battles.

Kiso returned a smile to HK, he was surprising more easy to talk to then organically though.

"I myself did not really expect any special treatment, though as you know in the outer rim, people still have skewed views on droids, and how they only like to talk with their own kind and all". "I admire your doing, a lot of governments fall into a certain trend, usually trying desperately over the years to gain power above those that were oppressing them for so called equality, just to turn around and do it right back, causing a proprietorial machine of hate that does not fix anything, just sparks more and more violence".

"I appreciate what you have done for the Dominion, but I was never truly apart of it, I joined the war too late, only to come into things as the Dominion crumbled away, many fled, others defected, quite a few joined us, and the rest suffered at the hands of the Sith". "In terms of actual craft, we will pretty much take what ever you can offer, that is in good condition and that you allow, with in reason". "Though we are always looking for capital ship to increase the size of our navy, civilian transports, medical craft, small general class craft are also needed, specifically with more refugees fleeing from the Sith Empire as it expands, in return we would be willing to lend support for any future engagements your government may have".

"Well I have lived long enough to see many of these cycles repeat so much that I know how to break them as well."

HK would begin by responding with a quip,

"Perhaps that was for the better, Dominion had dark beginnings as no more than slave puppets. Long story short, few of those Sith survived the encounter with me and I lead the army which crumbled the Dominion on Atrisia."

He would delve into his past with the Dominion a bit before pulling out a holoprojector disk and setting it on the table to activate the small device and manifest various designs of droid-forged ships,

"Much of the ships we produce, and which are offered on the public market, are smaller classes designed for speed and deployment in large numbers. We have different variants of droid and ugly starfighters, Abregado War Galleys which are corvettes with capability of bypassing enemy shield by ramming them and drilling their way inside for a boarding action, saucer corvettes for long distance journeys, some heavier cruisers, and most importantly,"

The holoprojector display would switch to show designs of a massive cargo freighter,

"We call these Commerce-class Space Hulks, they are pinnacle in cargo hauling. In a smaller frame they have as much transport capacity as a Lucrehulk, and equipped with the fastest hyperdrives we ever made, their cargo pods and containers could be potentially replaced with starfighter hangars or troop compartments and convert it into a military transport. You would have to do it on your though, we are still working on officially militarized version of this ship, balancing out the issues that would cause given its configuration."

HK would explain to Kiso before leaning back in his chair, watching her,

"We are also very careful with who we give these ships to. If you would want the Shrouded Republic to be given some of our Space Hulks then we would need solid support in maintaining our territory and keeping the Droid Space secured, somebody to serve as an ambassador of the Republic within our space and pledging themselves to our cause."

The droid would propose,

"That would be more valuable than any amount of credits."

Kiso gave a light shrug to HK at the event on Atrisia

"What happened their a thing of the past, people die in war, that's an unfortunate circumstance, and people do regrettable and stupid things, its just when they go out of their way to commit war crimes and other atrocities that I can not stand idly by". "Collateral damage in my mind is justified, as long as its accidental and people strive to make up for it, but that is enough about the past, we are here to talk about the future".

Kiso scanned the present ships on hand for what would work best in their military

"Those Abregado War Galleys, and their ramming ability, something like that would work well for our marine corp, in ship to ship fighting, as well as eliminating the use of drop ship, something like that could be put to good use for a hit and run fleet nation like us". "As for this other ship, the cargo freighter would also serve us well, fast hyper drives, mod-ability, small frame... I think we may have a deal on our hands, I will just have to check with my superiors on the such matters".

As for his next request Kiso though for a minute, most surviving members of the Dominion that joined the SR where from the outer-rim, not many had a large knowledge of the core worlds, and those that did held very high rank, but her...

"If you are looking for a candidate for an ambassador, I could fill that role, not only do I have more knowledge about the inner rim, and technologically a local as well as still classed as a mercenary it would suit me better". "In addition I do not hold a very high rank in the military, as such their is less risk of the GE and TSE connecting me to the SR and attacking you, does that sound ideal for you"?

Leaned in slightly at Kiso's first words,

"If you are to work with Metal Lords, understand that our position on collateral damage is different, we may be machines and battles are often just a case of numbers to us, but we always try to minimize the number of casualties, both among our soldiers and the civilians. We are built on trust, our smallfolk trust that we will protect them, we trust them to give the idea of machines and organics working together a shot. If you are to share our power, they will need to know that they can trust you to do what is best as well."

HK explained before leaning back and relaxing once more,

"But you do understand the design of the war galleys, our armies usually have advantage in melee and boarding actions due to the mechanical augmentation of our bodies, the galleys are deigned to pierce the enemy deflector shields and hull and deliver our troops as close to the enemy commanders as they can. Either way,"

The machine would reach out from across his duranium desk and offered Kiso his six-fingered metal hand to shake, the organic material that covered it like black flesh would peel away and retreat, revealing the skeletal metal digits alone,

"I accept this proposal, so I believe we have ourselves a deal, Lady Ambassador."

Kiso gave a slightly surprised look as HK in his response to her talk of collateral damage, it seems that he had mistaken her intention.

"No no no, that not what I mean, I do no like the killing of innocents and non-combats just as much as you, in battle I'll try to minimize civilian casualties as much as possible... I just know that no matter how hard some one tries people are always caught in the crossfire". "All I am saying is that I don't get needlessly over angry at the loss of one life like other factions do, who then use such reasoning to start their own genocidal war... like the Sith". "What I mean to say is that I know very well from first hand experience that not everyone can be save, but that does not mean I won't try".

She then returned to her normal composure

"As the the galleys, true the marine crop is not full of droids but they are not you average troops, specially equipped and trained in ship to ship boarding and fighting, you may be surprised with what they can do... for organics, hehe sorry that was a bad joke". "In other regards such galleys would not be used in full on engagements, mainly in hit and run and light skirmishes or going after prime targets like you yourself stated, but we can talk about that another time".

Kiso rose from her seat, placing her cybernetic hand within the grasp of HKs hand, giving it a good firm shake

"Thank you Lord HK-36, this meeting has been most helpful, I look forward to serving you in the future".
