Shiny Things (Leigh)

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
Rhen Var was still at times a wasteland for a moment before she was looking over the warehouse they were constructing. The droids working with the people and her research team were in the sections of the old ruins searching though out it. They had been working on many things but Matsu enjoyed helping and teaching her padawans, the information she managed to get from many of the books were set up and in her hands. The tomes from the ruins she had gone to with Vulps giving her some more information in the astrometrics lab. Calculations running with the computer and Harmony while she stood there watching it. "Talahym and Saratal." The replica droid stood there with her speaking. "That operation is not possible." Matsu blew some hair from her face while she heard the chrono beeping and her attention went to it. "Oh it is time." The hologram disappeared while she was moving out of the area that was being constructed to go and meet her newest padawan.

Bellin had never been one to question a Jedi Master, but despite receiving news of being given a new Master, all he could think about is why she would be here, of all places. Sure, there are ancient Jedi Temples here, but it still made no sense to him. "Oh well, I suppose I should just shrug it off," he said to himself quietly, so that his troop escort would not hear him. Suddenly, a surprise bump knocked him out of his thoughts and almost off his speeder. He suddenly remembered where they were and what they were doing, as they sped threw the icy planet. "Trooper, he yelled to the the closest soldier near him. "What time will we be arriving?" The soldiers reply was drowned out by the noise of both the falling snow and the hum of the speeders. "Blast it," he said to himself. Bellin steered his speeder closer to the soldiers in an attempt to hear better, "What time trooper?" he asked again. This time, he had a clearer response, "Should be.....5 minutes....sent in message.....good luck sir!" Bellin steered his speeder back to where he was originally in the formation, the dead center. Out of nowhere, a structure appeared in the distance, Bellin used a scope from the speeder to take a closer look. Surely, he did see a structure, but the more important object was the woman standing in front of it, his new master.

Matsu looked at them arriving, speeders in formation and she was moving her attention as they were in the distance and watching the construction droids as they were working. Her researchers bringing her several documents that she signed before once they arrived she stood there in her white robes. The jedi master bowing and moving closer to her new padawan as she stood there clasping her hands in front of herself. "Welcome padawan." A smile on her face while she bowed her head and the small jedi had a look towards the soldiers while she spoke. "Thank you for bringing him." She got a look in her eyes while watching her padawan to take him in while moving off to the side with her hands remaining in front of her. She led the way up into the central chamber they were working on and the holoemitters for the astrometrics lab displayed more of the section of the ruins. "I am master Matsu." She could go with her last name but se had family who trained and having several master Ike's could be confusing while she stood there. "And you my new padawan are here to learn all that you can. So be ready there is a lot I have come to learn."

"Of course Master," Bellin said as he bowed to Matsu. "I eagerly await learning what you have to offer," he said as he rose from his bow. Despite his calmer outer appearance, deep within Bellin, an excited and nervous part of him jumped and ran around him joyfully like a child receiving a new toy. This part of him was asking many questions, like what color lightsaber his new master had, how strong she was, what her preferred form of fighting was, or her force abilities, Bellin almost had to choke himself just to keep his cool in front of her. After all, she was certainly displaying traits that the most talented and awesome of Jedi Masters possessed, which was only making him even more nervous. "Calm down Bellin, you're only meeting one of the greatest Jedi of the Silver Jedi Order. it's okay," he thought to himself. Bellin soon extended his hand, hoping for a handshake. "Just dont mess this up," he said to himself again.

Matsu was looking at him while she raised an eyebrow and was walking. He seemed excited and feeling the ebb and flow of it in the force was like sparks of excited electricity. Her humor came though while she was moving towards the archways while her voice came out. "You are an eager one, that is good I promise you this we won't be here on the world for long. I am just overseeing the last of the construction being done here. We're making a map room for organizing and astrometrics to organize." She entered the room and the maps activated as the sounds of construction droids were working on the building and storage warehouse.

She stopped there and looked up into the dome that houses the holographic displays of planets, then systems and the galactic plane from sensors and buoy's that were in place. "We haven't been able to full get it mapped yet but we have been working on getting probes to the proper places to give us a stronger view. It should increase our mapping for hyperspace routes and finding lost worlds or discoveries. Where on Rhen Var hopefully the map room will work as a primary unit." She said it while zooming in to show Rhen Var. "You are here though it what will hopefully become a exotic training temple. Few practice the exotic force powers and saber forms."

Matsu continued to watch the boy to get an idea of how he would react. This wasn't the average temple, this was the one that they could experiment in and work on for getting a greater understanding of the force. Matsu provided one of her books and opened it in her hand while she was zooming into the planet as Rhen var appeared and the hologram was able to display the dome they were in. "It all comes around and with me padawan be prepared for wonders to astound the mind but there will also be horrors... like here." She moved her fingers on the map to zoom into a section of a planet as a large creature was attacking.

"Sector eight seven, a life sustaining planet with a jedi outpost. Their world is honey combed with caves created by these creature who stand nearly one hundred and sixty feet tall. Or here." She shifted again and zoomed. "Witness the wonder that is the collapse of a star and thankfully the system is uninhabited." She continued to look at it and then zoomed out and into more things like different jedi being seen as a holographic image came up. "This will also be the place we work to test out new weapons and equipment for our people. Some of these tests have yielded results such as this." She brought up several crystals. "A new model light blaster using solari crystals from the world here to create a light weapon that can be used to defend against sithspawn."

OOC: Sorry it took longer to post this.

"Incredible," Belling said under his breath.

He stared intensely at the beautiful vision before him. Never had he seen such a brilliant display of the galaxy before, the view made him feel like the universe was at his fingertips, like he could almost control it all. His brief monologue was suddenly interrupted by the real world when his Master spoke again.

"This will also be the place we work to test out new weapons and equipment for our people. Some of these test have yielded results such as this." She then brought out 7 crystals. A new model lightsaber using solari crystals from the world here to create a light weapon that can be used to defend against sithspawn."

If Bellin's eyes hadn't been large already, they certainly were now, he looked at the crystals with an increasing amount of intensity. However, during the rising of his intensity, he noticed something, his Master was certainly a genius. Creating new weapons, mapping out the Galaxy, and yet even though she could do fine on her own, even though she didn't need a Padawan, she chose to take him under her wing, to guide him. A new glimpse of admiration shined in his eyes as he looked at his Master again. Bellin knew that surely under her teachings, he would become a Jedi Knight.

"Master Ike, you have my respect, I certainly anticipate learning and fighting with you." He said rather loudly as he bowed before her.

Oh yes now this was a great student and seemed eager to learn while she deactivated the holodisplay before motioning for him to follow and walking. The construction barely noticeable before she was standing over a small balcony that overlooked the tundra. "We will be here for a little while and then head out into the mountains. The map room and temple here is great but there are many many things we can learn higher up aside from flying and how to breathe easier." She was looking it over as the sound of other machines within the area were going off and the sections brought her interest for the padawan. "Make sure you have everything you need." She just needed to change a little changing up her robes for a thicker robe and bodysuit while it sealed around her neck leaving the rest of her in a bodyglove while she wore the bodo bass belt. Her saber disc and saber on her hip with a satchel for equipment and anything they might find. "We will see what you are able to do and work on then."

Bellin gave a quick nod before walking back to his speeder to retrieve his valuables. As he walked through the construction site, he was amazed to see the sheer amount of effort that was put into building the structure, their progress was immense. He finally managed to walk back to the outside, where his troop escorts were loitering, "I wonder if they're coming with us to the mountains," Bellin said to himself. He gave a small wave before reaching his speeder, he unhooked his backpack from the small extension on the borrowed speeder, before walking back to the building. Before he was about to go any further from the door frame, a small voice in his head called out, "She's probably gathering her stuff too, she won't be at the balcony." Bellin wondered if his subconscious was always against his decisions, but soon decided that it wouldn't be best to dwell on it. He soon slumped down against the doorway, waiting eagerly for his Master to take him on their first mission.

Matsu watched him go off as she moved towards her room and gathered what she needed. A different robe and she slid on a bodysuit for the temperature while she put on a lighter underrobe and her belt harness from her knees to her shoulders. Holsters for gear and her disc blade, then her staff and net launcher. Reloads sliding into the sections as her sabers went back onto her hip and then the heavier robe for here that was white. She grabbed her equipment pack and slid it over her shoulder while it held he datapads and some books. Her wrist datapad she slid on and set the palm holo over the glove while making sure the bodyglove was at her wrist. Her head was covered with the hair mostly but she slider her mother of pearl chopsticks into her hair before turning them. She moved going into the map room while she stood there and popped her neck and shoulders seeing her padawan with a smile on her face and despite having several things on her looked minimalistic. It helped while she took out a small necklace with a purple stone and the sigil that glowed with the lightside. "Are you ready to begin?" She looked at him while the construction continued.

Bellin tried to respond in the most mature way he could, "Of course Master," he bowed while he said it. Matsu looked a lot more different then when he had last seen her. Her new accessories and equipment were interesting to say the least, it looked almost like she was prepared to go camping for months, but he didn't comment on it. Bellin had never been really one to question a Jedi Master anyways, the only time he ever did was the time Seea insisted that the two go on a dangerous mission when he was a Youngling and she was still a Padawan, that felt likes ages ago now. "I wonder hows she's doing right now, she's a Jedi Knight now, maybe she's taken upon an Apprentice as well," he thought to himself. He briefly pondered upon it before realizing that he was just standing in front of Matsu looking off at the distance. She seemed concerned about him, "I apoligize Master, I was just thinking about an old friend." Bellin said this in hopes of easing her mind, so that she wouldn't think something was wrong with him.

"Alright, lets do this!" Bellin said excitedly. "I hope she doesn't think I'm too cocky because I said that, of course she wouldn't, she's kind, I can tell," he thought to himself, he had been doing that a lot recently for reasons unknown. Bellin then started walking towards the exit, when he reached it, he looked outside the vast plain of ice ahead, then up at the mountains looming over them, before finally settling his eyes on the troop escorts. He spoke once more, "Are the troops coming with us?"

Small Background On Seea Vem: Seea was the Padawan of the Jedi Master who discovered Bellin and was the one who persuaded Bellin's mother to let him join the Silver Jedi. During his discovery, she was 16, since then, 14 years have passed, making her 30 years old. She has also transcended from Padawan to Jedi Knight since then, but has yet to claim an apprentice. When she was younger, she would always spend time with Bellin, acting like a bigger sister, of the friendships Bellin has had, hers has been the longest and closest.

Seea's Appearance: Seea is a female Human with dark brown eyes and brown hair. Her robes are brown, as well as her under tunic, which is sleeveless, it ends at her waist with a skirt like trimming, a tannish-brownish belt is wrapped around her waist as well. She also has black leggings and brown boots. Her skin is rather pale and she has two tattoos, both under her eyes. She wields a green lightsaber.

Matsu looked at the troopers and the padawan while she was moving with a look. "No we shall not need them." She had a look on her face though while looking them over ad watching the construction. "But they will need to stay and protect the workers, I am putting my faith in you." She didn't need to say more, misplacing it wasn't something she expected to do. The ones who worked with the silver jedi were far more trained then others and Matsu relied on them for a great many things as she was walking off towards the mountains with her face looking at the padawan. A look on her face of amusement as she gave the impression more she knew what he was thinking about. "Come on padawan." Matsu was leading the way towards the large mountains in the distance letting energy flow from her to add a little warmth around her. The sunlight coming over and painting veins of crystals as they formed in the snow. "There are veins of saber crystals that grow here on the world, perfect for jedi as they are attuned to the lightside of the force."

"Then let's obtain them!" Bellin said with determination in his voice.

Matsu smiled, then turned her body, and started walking off towards the mountains, he soon followed. Most of the hike was rather easy, Bellin exchanged a few lively conversations with his Master, he learned things about the planet that he had never known before (thanks to Matsu, of course,) and even saw a few things along the trail he hadn't expected to ever see in his life. Then he felt something, something dark in the force, a disturbance, it felt cold, even colder than the ice he walked along. Bellin didn't know if she had felt it yet, or if she had felt it at all, but one thing was for certain, something was closing in on them. "She must know it's there, she's a Master," Bellin thought to himself. He shuddered, the disturbance was growing, this thing was getting closer, a lot closer. Bellin shut his eyes and tried to find it's location with the Force, he looked in the darkness, for something, anything, then, out of nowhere, all his thoughts were cut off by a motion, he was moving, no, falling. He opened his eyes to see that he had tripped and was falling, he gathered himself before he could face-plant into the ice. "Smooth move, next time, try to stop and concentrate instead of moving forward with your eyes shut, genius," he thought to himself. Bellin looked up and decided while looking at Matsu, he would ask her.

"Do you feel that?" He called out to her, he needed an answer soon, for this thing was going to be there any second now.

Matsu was walking and talking with her padawan as she was giving information and the abridged portion of the things that had happened. With the jedi order and then the silver jedi here. Their different improvements that had formed into a map room for use. Slowly though she felt it creeping upon the edge of her senses before she was still moving and not indicating she had sensed it. Her mind working to formulate a plan to work while she was moving and saw her padawan falling. Her foot moved quickly to kick off the ice while she was moving towards him and crouching down on the ice with her eyes darting out. "Padawan are you okay?" She could feel the darkness coming towards them and she was moving now darting towards the snow bank so he wouldn't sleep. "We'll get into some cover, whatever is coming we'll need to be careful."

Bellin nodded, this was in order to tell her he was fine and that they should get moving. The young Padawan ran aside his Master through the trail, the path seemed to flatten out and he was positive that they weren't running uphill anymore. He quickly looked behind him in hopes of seeing something, there was nothing, despite this, he could feel the presence growing.

Eventually, after at least 2 minutes of running, he spotted a cave up ahead, he thought about screaming out to his Master to tell her he had found cover, his mouth was open, but as he looked over, he noticed that her eyes were also fixated on the cave, a small smile rose on his face and he shut his mouth.

Another minute went by before they reached the cave.

The two rushed in, sprinting further into the cave, Bellin noticed that the presence was still growing, but at the same time, it was, farther away. He called out to his Master, "It's walking now."

She didn't flinch, nor did she stop, she just kept running. Bellin ran up ahead, then looked back at her, "Hey, Master, it's not following us anymore, we should save our strength."

Matsu didn't stop.

Bellin tried again, "Hey, did you not hear me? We can stop running."

Nothing happened.

He tried again, "Master, we shouldn't run anymore, we should take a brea-"

Bellin's words were cut off, as he felt a familiar sensation, the feeling of motion and that everything was in slow-motion, he was falling again, except, there was no ground below for him to catch himself on, his eyes widened and he looked back, Matsu had stopped, she was looking at him with terror in her eyes. He suddenly looked down, there was ice below him, except, it was farther away, suddenly, it dawned on him, he was falling into a hole, a huge hole. Then, out of nowhere, the slow-motion ended, and everything was moving a lot faster as he plummeted, head first, into the icy cavern. Soon enough, Bellin regained his composure, and before landing on the icy surface, he raised both hands above his head, and used the force to launch himself back into the air, this action gave him enough time to flip back onto his feet and land graciously. He then heard a a voice, his Master's, he couldn't make out quite what she was saying, but he replied instantly.

"I'm okay Master!"

Then, out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed something shiny sticking out of the wall. His Master was speaking again, but he wasn't listening, it was as if he were in a trance. Bellin moved forward to the suspicious object, as he did so, he could see more of them, a lot more. He gasped when he realized what they were.

The crystals.

He called out as loudly as he could, accidentally interrupting her in the process, "Master! I've found them! I've found the saber crystals!"

OOC: I hope this is okay, I'm sort of new to Roleplay, so I don't really know if I'm allowed to just re-direct the story like this. Also, would you like to do the Ziost mission with me? I figured that it wouldn't make much sense for a Padawan to just be dispatched on their own and I would really love to do another Roleplay with you. :)

[ooc: it is okay, generally ask for some of those actions but I like it. Moves forward]]

Matsu was moving and feeling the sensation of the approaching darkness while she was working to shield their force presence and standing there in the air. Her first instincts to fly and hoer when the padawan was falling had her moving down after him and the sight of the crystals glowing around them cast different colors on her face. She lowered herself while watching the crystals on the walls around them. Matsu raised her head as she was looking up before touching the wall and focused as across her vision green energy and light created a bubbled dome. Showing illusions and covering the hole they had come through before she was turning to the wall and the padawan while touching the crystals on the wall. "We will have to be careful I wasn't expecting this but there is more here then I had thought." SHe had met and faced some darkside things that could hibernate and hide their force presence but she wasn't sure what that was moving her eyes down to the padawan. "We'll go through the caves, be careful and use the force but take it slow."

Bellin replied almost instantly, "Yes Master."

He quickly started taking crystals out of the wall and placing them into his bag. After taking as many as his bag could carry, he turned to face his Master. He nodded to her and the two walked deeper into the icy cave, it was getting darker as they walked further, soon, they could hardly see anything. He reaches his right hand over to the left side of his hip and took the lightsaber off his belt.

He then rose the device in front of his face and activated it, a brilliant shade of blue rose from the hilt and glowed with a blinding presence. It made a very low buzzing sound. He looked around for his Master in the darkness, when he couldn't see anything ahead, he swung his blade to the left, almost slashing the very person he was trying to find.

"Sorry Master," Bellin said sheepishly.

He turned his blade back to the front of his body and looked further into the darkness.

Matsu moved a little when the blade was coming at her and she looked at the padawan more curious then worried with her hand on her saber hilt. She watched him while they were walking and she was gathering crystals. Letting her bag fill up before she let herself look into the darkness her vision shifting to look in the low light while she was watching. "Careful, place it above your head and look. Use your senses to augment your vision to see the low light that is around you and the small shimmers that are reflected." She kept moving at a fair pace mostly to give him space in case he swung again and to allow her silvery blue saber to illuminate without disrupting her vision.

They had been walking for a while now.

Bellin was normally patient, he was usually calm, and he was almost always centered, but this, this was aggravating. It was almost as if the cave had no end. They were stumbling in the dark, walking to their possible doom in an icy cavern where no one could here them scream. It was official.

Rhen Var was the worst planet he had ever been to.

He tried to make sure that Matsu couldn't detect his negativity on the outside, but he knew that a master of the Force like her was probably able to read his mind. The Force was certainly a powerful thing, he knew that, and while on most occasions it was useful, it could sometimes be a pain in the neck.

He sighed, then shut his eyes, and used the Force as a sense of guidance. He felt something, something large, something dark, it was coming from......right behind them? No, that couldn't be possible. He opened his eyes and remembered:

"The presence!" he yelled.

It happened so quickly.

First, there was the sudden lack of air.

Second, a sudden dull pain.

And Third, The feeling of being flung forwards off his feet.

He was hurdling through the air for a brief second, before slowly losing momentum and slamming into the icy ground. He landed on his stomach.
Bellin quickly got up and looked behind him.

All color drained from his face as he looked on in horror.

There was a giant red beast covered in tattoos looking right at them.

It was smiling.

Matsu was feeling the padawan and his thoughts on the surface, it was one thing to block off your mind but surface thoughts and reactions were harder to hide unless you could do so without reacting. Her attention was slightly devided though while she was moving and then she felt something coming at them as she moved. Her body crouching lower and pulling at the ice of the wall as it shaped open for her. Pushing an alcove open for the padawan when something came forward and struck him she was letting the force energies hum throughout her body while looking down at the ground and leaping up. The ice smacking closed behind in a frozen wall, her foot digging in when she saw the smile. Then she returned one of her own and looked down as her hands spread ut with the ice opening like a maw into the stone below that became jagged to hold on in place. She watched him move closer grasping before stepping back and letting the ice below her feet become a slick slush you could slide through and down into the hole. "Back away padawan." Her attentions were there while she was moving and pulling at the ice with shaping to build a wall between them until sections of the cave were opened to the sun.

Bellin watched as Matsu fought with such grace and skill, her title as Jedi Master was made clear in that instance. Her fighting skill combined with her large amount of power over the Force almost distraced Bellin from his surroundings, he began to notice that the icy cavern was caving in.

He soon spied a few exits made from the fight between his Master and the beast. With an agile and coordinated jump, Bellin flew into the air and back on to the surface of Rhen Var. He complemented himself on his job well done, certainly Matsu would appreciate that he followed his orders. He moved his arms backwards to pat his bag, only to swat at air.

His eyes widened.

Within a second, Bellin knelt down and peered through the opening. He gulped.

He had left his backpack in the cave.

"It must have been when the creature knocked me forward," Bellin said to himself, "curses, I have to get that bag." He jumped back into the crevice and started running towards the bag. Bellin thankfully managed to obtain the bag. He thought to himself again, "Alright, time to get out and-"

He looked over at Matsu.

He knew her orders were wrong. He knew that she would need assistance, he knew that he should help, but he had never gone against a Master's command before. He tried to calm down and decide carefully, but a feel of panic leaked into him, he knew that he would have to fight.

With that belief in mind, he pulled out his lightsaber, ignited it, and charged towards the beast. Jumped into the air, and prepared to land a damaging blow.
