SHIMMERING FALLS, JAGOMIR

The last remaining patriarch of House Myler has died leaving no direct heirs. The only family remaining is a half-blind octogenarian niece who lives in a mansion and has a penchant for spoiling several fat loth-cats. As the executor of his estate, the niece was left a map to a vault filled with rare artifacts. Judging by the map, the vault is located in a cavern system behind Shimmering Falls. Rumors swirl the vault is where ancient Sith were long buried a millennia ago. Not able to go herself, the family of House Myler hired out the task.

Humidity made her hair stick to her neck as she walked. Across the river was a city built into the waterfall itself. It appeared to be crumbling and in poor shape but from all her research it was populated. Perhaps there had been flooding and a lack of credits to fix some of the beautiful bridges. Oceanic gaze took in the route. Easily still a kilometer to go to reach the city which meant a loop around.

Having studied the map before landing, the entrance to the cavern system was somewhere in the city. Persephone hoped it wasn't guarded by locals or walled off. It was going to mean more work for them.

Her bodyguard droid, Zee, shifted slightly, his photoreceptors focused on the bridge structures and their integrity.

"Alright, let's keep moving."

Thanks for reading! I think there's a lot of opportunity in this plot. A word of warning most writers either love this character or hate her. If you're unfamiliar I would read through some of my posts to get a feel or ask me - Persie won't be making you feel warm and fuzzy on this trip.

"They burned our temples. Scattered our bones. Erased our names from history. And they wonder why we hate."
-Darth Marr

The crunch of bones beneath his feet echoed down the cavern, a familiar song heard so many times before. How many ruins had he visited now? How many planets had he trawled over in his search? It seemed countless now, each one blending into the next. From paradise to broken grottos. They'd all turned up nothing.

Empty.

Would it be different this time?

The rage building within him said no. This quest was a folly, a fool's errand set out for him by the elders of the tribe. They had sent him away to find something that did not exist. An errand to keep him from ripping their fragile peace to shreds. He would have to return. He would have to tear the lies from their throats and learn the truth.

Hatred, pointed and sharp, flowed from him in waves. It dragged across stone and moss. Calling out in wave after wave until it touched upon something that called back.

Amos’ boot called out one last time as he came to a sudden stop. His head tilted slowly to the side, lips drawing into a thin line as he stared into the dark distance. It was there. He could feel it, sense it in the distance of the abyss. There was no telling if it was what the Elder’s had told him he would find, but something had answered his call. The anger that reigned him seemed to subside for a moment, and he slowly began to walk again.

They had lied, he knew they had, but it didn't matter.

Something was here.

He did not know what, maybe it was what the crones had spoken of, maybe it was not, but he could feel it. A sliver of the past, an ancient token left by those before.

Would it cure him? No. Would it heal the pain he had endured? No.

It wouldn't give back what he had lost, what he had taken from himself. But it would be the next step, the next piece of what he desperately craved. Amos let his shoulders slowly roll, a crack, second, and then a third echoing through the caverns.

Something was here,

and it would be his.
