O~~>BAD THINGS<~~O

The bridge of the Fortuna was humming with power.

Danika's escape from Rhand had been short lived, as this little mongrel just couldn't let go and had to follow her onto her own ship. One silver lining was that he had taken her bait into the corridor outside the bridge. A sinister smile spread on her lips when he sliced the door console. By now her most formidable warriors would be in the hangar. This little brat would not be getting out alive either way.
“Just you and me.”
The Herald of Death laughed.
"Don't bank on that, darling." she said, teal eyes burning brightly as she delved deep into the bottomless fountain of her power.

And then he decided to strike.

His saber work was sloppy. Even with his swift movement, she could see his swing coming from a mile away. Her crimson blade met his long before it reached her head while she angled her amethyst blade sideways to attempt to cut his midsection in half.

The crimson blade then followed up with a downward slice, aiming to cut him from shoulder to hip. At the same time, she lifted two fingers from the amethyst blade to send a powerful Force blast into his Confederate gut.

Jumping back, she put some distance between herself and the masked marauder.
<Don't kill him outright, Dani-gril. He can be of some use.> Era Knox's spectre told her as Danika settled back into a defensive stance.
<What use could such a sloppy Force User have for us?> Danika asked her old master telepathically as she kept her eyes on her opponent.
<Intel, my dear. He's Confederate, after all.> the Lady of Night said patiently.
<I doubt he can find his own backside, but we'll see.> Danika answered, pulling a mental face. "Now, darling. Do you care to show up and face me properly for once?" she asked the Knight aloud.

She was growing bored.

And a bored Lady of Bone was even more deadly.

The thought that maybe this was a bad idea had crept into Rann’s head more than once during this entire engagement.
Landing on the planet alone?
Perhaps that was a bad idea.
Engaging an enemy position alone?
Perhaps that was a bad idea.
Tackling a withdrawing enemy through a portal without knowing what was on the other side?
Perhaps that was a bad idea.
Allowing his opponent to dictate the setting for their battle?
Perhaps this was a bad idea.

But Rann knew there were no do overs. No retries. This was the world he lived in, one where this was where he was, and this is what he was doing.

If this was the circumstances he found himself, where every decision led from bad to worse, he would make the best of it. He would throw himself behind every attack, move with deadly purpose, strike and achieve victory or make her earn hers.

His attack was parried easily enough. Expected, he thought. It wouldn’t ever be that easy and sure enough came her counterattack, a slice at his midsection. He backstepped, disengaging his blade and angled his own blade parallel to her amethyst one, delivering a counter attack to actively push the blade away to avoid locking himself down, while she used her free crimson blade to slice downward on him. Again, he angled his blade parallel to hers to block, but dropped down to a knee as he blocked the attack. Letting go of his saber with his off hand, he summoned his lightsaber to it through the Force and angled the emitter directly into her midsection.
If only he were a second faster, the battle would probably have ended there. But as he took the split second to focus on igniting his blade, his opponent had used the force to deliver a push into his gut, drawing an audible “Oompf” out from his mouth as he was thrown backwards, flipping over himself once before stopping himself, for the second time this duel, by stabbing his saber into the ground.

On his knee again, he rose back to his feet as she started to challenge him.

“Give me some credit.” He responded, deactivating his lightsabers and putting them on his belt, dropping his hands to his side and holding his palms upwards, as if shrugging. He took a quick glance around the hallway, spotting segmented pieces of wall that would be easier to grab.

“This isn’t exactly my ideal arena. But we can work on that.” He finished, mimicking as if gripping something with his hands and raising them. The sound of metal warping and bolts popping filled the corridor as he pulled the wall panels free and directed four separate pieces towards her in a mass volley. As his attack was launching, he reached down to his belt and grabbed a lightsaber, igniting it and launching it forward straight at her with deadly purpose.
With luck, the blade would impale her, but Rann knew better then to dare to dream.
