Tython was a world far removed from Coruscant. Standing at the window of a quiet meeting room within the Jedi Temple, she let her gaze drift across the endless green expanse beyond. It was a far cry from Coruscant's chaotic sprawl. No crowded skylanes. No glimmering towers. Just the soft rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds. Peaceful? Yes. But it felt wrong and disconnected from the pulse she had grown used to.


The New Jedi Order had made the decision to relocate to Tython's jungles, and while she respected their reasons, it still felt… out of place. At least to her. Golden rays of sunlight filtered through the high windows, casting a soft glow across her slender frame. The stillness wrapped around her like a weighted blanket, too calm, too quiet. She shifted slightly, folding her arms as she listened to the birdsong outside. It was almost meditative, though her thoughts remained preoccupied. She was expecting someone, a young apprentice from the Order, someone she'd never met but had agreed to work with on her latest case.

Katarine had only recently left the New Jedi Order. The work had started hitting too close to home, and her ties within the Temple had become complicated, particularly with one person. Now, she walked the path of a Wayseeker, following the will of the Force without allegiance to any one Jedi faction. Still, she wasn't above accepting help when it was offered, especially on a case like this.

Several bodies had been discovered on Coruscant, each victim found with illegal narcotics in their system. But what stood out wasn't just the presence of drugs, it was their horrifying effect. According to the medical examiner, the substances triggered a sudden spike in body temperature so severe it boiled the brain inside the victim's skull. No one had seen anything like it. As a Jedi Investigator, Katarine had taken the case without hesitation. She'd seen her share of strange deaths, but this was unlike anything she'd encountered before. A partner would make the work easier, though not just anyone would do. Normally, she would have chosen Dean Walker , but things with Dean had grown… complicated.

Too close. Too familiar. Too much.

That, more than anything, had pushed her away from the Order. Fortunately, the Grandmaster had understood and arranged for someone else to accompany her on the mission. A fresh face. A clean slate.

Now, all Katarine had to do was wait for the young man to arrive.

It has been quite the journey so far with the young Jedi Apprentice, in his late teenage years, came to Tython with his younger brother and twin sister, Caden and Seri. Kept close together.

The time spent here inside of the New Jedi Order wasn't easy for anyone but it seemed for Kas he was quick learner and progressed quite a bit with Caden and Seri. The trio helped each other but they did need to start fending for themselves. The incident of Kas being ambushed by Flesh Raiders.

The natives of Tython did have both Caden and Seri worried about their older brother. He did recover eventually after Healers and Medics from the Medical Bay tended to Kas. The Apprentice didn't want to be in a state like that again. Determined to grow and improve as a Jedi.

No master had taken Kas under their wing yet since he came to Tython. He was independent however and had been doing what studies and training regimes he could after being fully healed.

Kas did attempt to socialise with the other Padawan Learners at first but it seemed everyone separated off to do their own things were it felt awkward for him. He was friendly towards Padawan Learners; Jobbi Chantin Auren Kah'el Xuko Pagoi and Valoria Elryne at the start. Among many other students that joined the Jedi Grandmaster Valery Noble in the trip taken.

A friendship did take its form with Valoria Elryne a female Twi'lek probably around the same age as Kas. He hadn't heard or seen from the other Padawan Learners until he attended a class on Lightsaber hilt construction that Aris Noble and Ran Serys were hosting together.

Quite a number of various Jedi had gathered there and had shared their own Lightsaber builds, experience and knowledge in a Lightsaber being a big part, a symbol to the Jedi Order. It was where Kas had managed to decide upon the foundations of his two Lightsaber hilts.

He got the blueprints and designs set in motion all while supporting Caden and Seri in putting together the Lightsaber hilts they sought to make. The trio had an interesting set upon them.

Kas was walking down and through the Temple halls where the Jedi Council had assigned him to assist a Jedi Master that had a case requiring additional support. It excited him but he'd be going in without Caden and Seri who were busy in their studying and training for the mean time.

His footsteps echoed down the hallway as he was getting closer to meeting Jedi Master Katarine Ryiah for his first mission. Inside he was determined and motivated in proving himself on the outside he was calm, cool but alert and curious.

Finally he stopped to be before Katarine and was ready to introduce himself. He spoke to her.

"Hey, are you Master Ryiah? I'm Kas Larsen, a Jedi Apprentice. I've been assigned to a mission. One I believe is a case with you master." Kas said to Katarine as he made his introduction.

"Hey, are you Master Ryiah? I'm Kas Larsen, a Jedi Apprentice. I've been assigned to a mission. One I believe is a case with you master."

Katarine felt Kas approaching long before he entered the room, but she didn't turn immediately. Instead she let him slide in and speak while her mind let go of the scenery outside. Finally she turned and let her deep green eyes fall upon the young man in front of her. She smiled at him, a gesture that lit up her face but didn't quit reach her troubled eyes.

"It's nice to meet you Kas Larsen. Yes, I am Master Ryiah, though you may call me Katarine." Her voice was musical despite no effort to make it so. She approached closer, and their height different became more apparent. Katarine only stood 1.5748 Meters tall so most beings she met dwarfed her easily. She motioned for him to sit at the small conference table provided and once he had done so she had a seat herself.

"Kas I'm recruiting another Jedi for a criminal investigation that I'm conducting. Coruscant is experiencing a very dangerous drug problem thats resulted in the deaths of over fifteen people now. The Council mentioned your name as a possibility to take this case. I'd be remiss if I refrained from telling you that it might be dangerous and complex. The best way to learn is through experience but I understand if you feel you are not ready. "

She pulled a datapad out of her robes and slide it over the table so that it landed in front of his hand. There were crime scene photos on the datapad and many Jedi were not used to seeing such things. In a way this was her first test. Jedi Investigators needed to be able to look at crime, and sometimes crime was brutal.

Kas smiled as he introduced and given an introduction from the Jedi Master. A lovely voice that seemed to ring positive vibes for the young Jedi. Despite the height difference between them. Kas respected Katarine Ryiah for given him the opportunity to advance further as Jedi overall.

"Nice to meet you Katarine. Kas is fine with me. Titles make my skin crawl." He said to her.

Exchanged his first pleasantries with Katarine while stood within the Temple halls. When she approached him at a closer then motioned to sit at the conference table. Kas followed it.

Taking a seat on one of the chairs as he was ready and set to listen to what Katarine had to share with him about the mission in store. Excitement building inside of Kas like lava waiting to erupt out of the earth. The fiery spirit of Kas ready to act and perform like a Jedi.

Listening to the details and information that the Jedi Master revealed to him. Kas sat there.

"Hmm. Drugs and spice. There were bad cases of that back on Corellia. Doesn't surprise that Coruscant is enduring the same issues Katarine. Fifteen people deaths. This has gotta be stopped. Hmm the Council put my name forth? Huh. I'm grateful and want to help. I'll be ready."

Kas noticed Katarine got a datapad out from her robes and slid it across to his reach. The dominant hand stopped the datapad from sliding further along. His sights went to the crime scene photos and this wasn't the first time for Kas. He trained in the CorSec Academy and for a period of time was under employment in CorSec. Corellian Security and he was an Officer.

Kas was taking in the details of what the photos can reveal to him but deep down he knew there was a lot more out there. More chaos, damaged lives and struggles with those who unfortunately became addicts with the drugs and spice minerals and materials involved to exploit addictions.

He was used to brutality and that is something ever since becoming a CorSec Officer after academy training. Kas wanted to put a stop to criminal activity. He did a few times but not as a Jedi or had unlocked his Force abilities. Now his determination and motivation had more reasons.

After viewing all of the photos not hint of being put off as if someone would fall ill or in disgust by the photos shared. Kas spoke and moved his sights toward Katarine's eyes.

She would be able to see the fiery spirit brewing inside of the Apprentice.

"I dealt with similar cases back on Corellia. My home all while I was a CorSec Officer. Now I'm a Jedi. I want to end and stop criminal activities like this full-on, Katarine."

His eyes locked with hers. "When do we begin? I'm not holding back. Willing to learn and train."
