Shadows of Kashyyyk (Shamira)

Tempest

Storm of the Force
[member="Shamira Karuto"]
Tempest was not going to give-up. She had, at times, the stubbornness of a mule in standing her ground. She was not going to let them get away with it.
One might have thought she’d had enough heights and depths for one day, but Tempest was determined. Reaching out with the Force she strained to hold the gunship in place, but it was pulling her rather than the other way.
There was just one choice. Charge.

Running back she sprinted forward and leapt, hurling herself with the Force straight at the vault on its magnetic tether. The gangster had hastily drawn his pistol and fired, missing the first shot, but as she landed the second hit her a glancing strike on the side
Pain filled her as the plasma burned through the armour and scorched her skin. She cursed for not having her Beskar, which would have easily defeated this attack.

But that left the man in front of her, backed up on the vault which was now swaying alarmingly. Anger filled her and she unleashed the Force with the power of her rage, the invisible hand closing over his throat to crush him. There was a crunch and the body fell, sliding off the edge to fall a long way to the ground.

Tempest looked up at the gunship above her. That was the next target….

It was going to have to take her attention away from deflecting the blaster bolts, but the idea might give the padawan a momentarily glimpse into beating these mercenaries. But with the stationary minigun firing directly at her, there was little opportunity to put the plan into action.
That’s when the wookies, obviously wanting to help in some way, moved forward collectively. This sudden group movement got the attention of the gunner, who swung the gun around to blaze lasers into the warriors. The rest of the mercenaries started firing in Shamria’s general direction, but the blazing lasers didn’t pin her down like the endless stream from the minigun could.
Because of that, Shamira was able to split her focus from the lasers flying at her to the stack of boxes, and pulled them down with the help of the force, crashing downward in front of the mini-blockade, totally blocking the minigun from firing at the wookies.
The padawan grinned widely to herself, knowing that they had the momentum now, and she brought her lightsaber up with triumphant cry, before charging forward with the rest of the wookie warriors, storming over the durosteel boxes and into the side room, cutting down mercenaries with her blade and the green lasers from the bowcasters to her sides.
A small victory as it may be, it felt good. Standing over the dead bodies of the mercenaries as the wookies roared powerfully. One even clapped a massive paw on her back in a congratulatory motion. She grinned up at the wookie, proud of the work they had done in taking back the hall. So much so, it didn’t even prick at her mind that her mistress was still not back from her side of the mission.

The gunship seemed to have noticed her at last and began violently swinging her and the safe around like a giant morning star.
Unfortunately, they seemed to have forgotten that momentum and mass were things best not messed with. The gunship could lift the vault, but once it started swinging it started to lose control.

Tempest, frankly terrified and barely holding on saw the ledge getting closer and closer. As the vault whirred through the air she leapt, hit the deck and then threw herself forward as the vault finally collided with the trading post.

The din was terrific, timbers and metal shattered apart and was followed by the impact of the gunship.
Now fire was added to the mix, and Tempest stumbled to her feet, running forward to try and find Shamira. Hopefully she’d not been squashed by something.

Shamria wasn’t sure what hit her in all honesty. One second, she was standing next to one of the larger wookies celebrating taking down the stronghold of mercenaries, and in turn saving a good number of innocent civilians and wookies, and the next, she was on her back, vision blurry, and head hurting like she had been hit by a speeder bike going at full speed.
Numbness ran fully over her body, in a way that made her not realize until she slowly began to push upward, that a large, wooden beam was on top of her back. It took a few droplets of blood hitting the wood floor to realize her head was gashed, and a gloved hand touching the cut to feel pain once more. Once the pain woke her from the numb feeling, Shamira realized just how much she hurt.
Turning her head to side, the largest problem roamed large. A crashed ship, having buried its way through the side of the trading hall and buried it’s way halfway out of the side, had caught fire, and had begun to take the rest of the hall with it. Red and orange flames licked closer and closer to her, but even as she attempted to push upward despite the pain, the Togruta couldn’t get the beam off her back. Without some help very soon, a few broken ribs and a head gash would be the least of Shamira’s problems.

Shouts and roars and Wookiees ran to find water pumps filtered through dimly to Tempest.
As she stumbled through the wreckage she felt rather than really saw her apprentice close by.

Rushing forward, she hauled on the beam, but it was heavy, and weighed down by a durasteel joist. She reached out to the Force, but she was exhausted.
As the flames got closer she called out. “Get ready, Shamira!”

Her lightsabre blazed and slashed twice. The wood of Kashyyyk was tough, but the plasma blade still cut through it. With that done she was able to haul out the Togruta and cradle her in her arms as she stumbled out.

“Medic!” she called weakly. “Hold on, Shammy, we’ll get you help,” she promised. She didn’t know how badly hurt her Apprentice was at this point, but there was a bit of blood on her torso and her head was bleeding.

Everything was a complete blurry, hazy mess as Shamira’s mind was clouded in pain and from inhaling the smoke of the fire. That didn’t keep her from seeing the saber igniting through the black smog, then proceeding to cut the beam that weighed heavy on top of her. A fresh shot of pain raced through her abdomen as the beam was lifted off her check, which released the pressure painfully off of ribs.
If there wasn’t pain coursing through her body with every movement she made, whether that be lifting her arms or breathing, Shamira would have fought her mistress tooth and nail to keep her from carrying her out of the building. Instead, the Togruta just went limp, clutching lightly onto the robes of the taller woman. If anything, it was extremely impressive that Tempest was so easily able to lift her up and carrying her body weight out of the building.
Breathing became much easier as the pair exited the building, and with that, Shamira’s vision began to clear as well. Wookie’s ran from water station to the building, desperately fighting the fire that threatened to engulf the platform. The Togurta smirked tiredly, raising an eyebrow as she looked up to the ashen haired woman. “Did you really have to make a dropship plummet down on me?”

“Hey, you wanted the trip to be exciting, didn’t you?” Tempest asked in her most light-hearted tone. It wasn’t a good joke, but it was all she could say at that moment.
Gently she laid the Togruta down on a stretcher. She could tell immediately that Shamira’s ribs were not happy. Some were certainly cracked, possibly broken.
A wookiee medic came over, applying kolto and pain killers to the wounded apprentice. He gestured at Tempest.
“Treat her first,” she ordered. “Don’t worry, Sha, I’m here, I’ll stay with you.”
Her own body was not in the greatest shape, but she ignored it.

A few coughing laughs made their way through her pained intakes of breaths as Tempest’s joke landed happily on her. Everything upper body wise hurt like..well, like she had multiple cracked ribs. Yet having her mistress beside did make her feeling much better, safer. If anything, knowing that her mistress was beside her at least gave her the knowledge the bad guys were dead, and they had won. At least for now.
“Yah, but I didn’t expect all this. I just wanted something more interesting than trade talk.” Smirking painfully, Shamira watched as the wookie began to place bacta on her broken area’s. Looking up to the mistress, the Togruta couldn’t help but notice her mistress was in almost as bad a condition as she was.
Getting a second wookie medic’s attention as it lumbered by, she waved him over to where the pair laid against a wood pillar. “Fix her too. Please.” She said weakly, pointing to Tempest.

It was only after Shamira was being seen to Tempest’s liking that she consented to being treated. Collapsing back onto a stretcher as a wookiee medic removed her armour with surprising delicacy.
She must have blacked out a little because when she next looked up she was inside a wookiee house.

Looking over she saw Shamira was asleep, possibly under the influence of the painkillers.
At first Tempest stumbled slightly when she stood, but gritting her teeth she forced herself to stay standing.

A wookiee came to her, offering a translator earpiece.
“You should rest, visitor.”
“Later. I need to discuss passage off world…or recovering my ship.”
“The ship fell into the depths,” a deep voice said. It was the chief. “It cannot be easily reached.”
“I’m afraid our visit hasn’t exactly gone as planned.”
“You defended our kin and homes from the slavers. We owe you a debt. If you wish us to journey to the ship we will.”
Tempest shook her head. “No, I need to use your holocom, get pickup. If it is permissible I will likely return with a salvage team for the ship.”
“It is, until then rest and heal.”

Tempest flopped back onto the bed. She could really use a nap at this moment!

It would be a few hours after word that the mistress’s Padawan awoke. Shamira didn’t remember much after the wookie gave her painkillers. She had fought to stay awake to make sure they were caring to her mistress, but had ultimately failed in that regard. The next thing she knew, she was waking up in a bed, that once her vision sharpened after having being dulled from sleep, the Togruta realized was a wookie medical hut.

And the second thing she realized was pain. And that everything hurt. Especially where the beam had fallen on her midsection. It hurt to breath, especially.

Shamira gritted her teeth as she slowly rolled over, sitting up on the bed to take a look around the hut. On the other side, Tempest was fast asleep. The window on the far end of the hut had light streaming in. Which meant it was either morning, or the middle of the day. In her painkiller dulled mind Shamira couldn’t tell the time.

With one arm hugging her midrift, where a bacta patch was over her rib section, the Togruta slowly shuffled over to the window, resting an elbow on the windowsill. With the heat of the warm sun radiating over her skin, Shamira let out a long sigh, happy to just have a moment to herself after the trying ordeal of the past day.

Tempest dreamed, a state possibly encouraged by the strange and powerful medicines of the Wookiees.
Regardless she slept until a breeze and the sunlight fell on her. Opening her eyes, she sat up groggily and looked at Shamira. Her apprentice was leaned up against the window, either staring out or dozed off.

“You’re up,” she said, earning the ‘captain obvious’ award. “How are you?”

She got up painfully and hobbled over. “I’m getting too old for this,” she grumbled.

Shamira had no idea how long she stood there by the windowsill, allowing the wind to blow calmingly across her face. She entered almost a trance like state with her eyes closed, just allowing the breeze to calm her down from the high of the day’s events.

The blue-grey eyes opened slowly at the sound of her mistress’s voice, looking upward to see her standing there. Her comment earned the mistress a weak smirk from the Padawan. “I’d say so. Only so long the wookie’s drugs can knock out a Togruta.”

Her gaze returned to back outside the window, gazing out aimlessly as her hoarse voice cracked to life once again. “What next..? How long are we stuck here?” As beautiful and tranquil as the planet was, the thought of her bunk back on the Ashira’s Light did call to her.

Tempest stretched painfully.
“I got a call out to our closest outpost. Should have a pickup within one standard day. Until then we’ll just have to relax and let the wookiees pamper us. Fancy a massage by one of them?” Tempest joked.

Some food was delivered. It was considerably more organic than she was used to. As in, whatever it was still seemed to be moving. She’d eaten worse though and it didn’t taste bad. The trick was to close one’s eyes and ignore any movement on the tongue.
