Duel Shadows of Exegol

Exegol.

The remnants of the last war, a shattered planet floating in former Maw space. Jonyna had been tasked with checking out a disturbance within the system, a blip on the radar that the council entrusted her to inspect. Maybe it was nothing, but Jonyna was sure gonna find out. As she entered the system, she had to adjust for the strange gravity of the shattered world, before she landed.

Whatever was out here, she had to be ready for it.

It had been many years since Varos had come to Exegol. In that time, he had changed a great deal. His attire, his equipment, his very name, all of those things had been cast aside when Varos had come to Exegol for the first time. A disillusioned Jedi Padawan who had looked into the darkness, and found the Shadow staring back. His mind had not survived the ordeal, but something within him had. Something he had never known was there, and something that had made sure that every last vestige of who he had once been would not see the light of the galaxy again. Now, there was only pain, suffering, and the Shadow.

Now, he was only Varos Ren.

His return to Exegol did not spark such a drastic change this time as it had before. He had landed his ship on one of the larger chunks of the once mighty world, and had marched across its ruined surface towards one of the few rare structures that had survived. He had come to this site for a specific purpose, a need to find a relic that would in time allow him to harness his rage and power, and shatter what few shackles remained tying him to his old life.

He had come for a new lightsaber.

As soon as she landed, she could feel it. A dark presence within the Force.

That was what she was looking for. She took a moment to close her eyes, feeling out what she was sensing, before a smirk formed across her face. Only a mile out.

Quickly rushing up to her cargo bay, Jonyna prepped her speeder and got moving...fast.

He was not alone on this barren rock. He looked up, his helmet filtering information to him as he took in the landscape around him. It was not a survivor of Exegol, such a thing would have been impossible. Another pilgrim perhaps? No, that was not likely either, Varos did not sense another Dark Sider on the world. Quite the opposite in fact, as they drew closer he was more and more certain it would not be someone he could consider an ally.

He reached down to his belt, grabbing the hilt of the black and white lightsaber there. It burned as he grabbed it, the aura of the blade resonating against his very being. The blue kyber crystal held within disgusted and enraged that its owner had fallen so far. He needed to replace it, but he would have to wait until after he dealt with the threat.

As Jonyna got closer, she could feel it. The overwhelming pressure of the Dark Side. A red hooded figure stood in her way, and while normally she was one to go in guns blazing, she couldn't help but heed the words of Kahlil.

So she slowed, taking a moment to circle around the figure at a manageable speed. "What's your business stranger?"

She couldn't make assumptions. She couldn't be the first to strike.

Varos tilted his head to the side, his helmet sensors scanning the being that had so suddenly come before him. Annoyance played across his mind, frustration as well. He was not one to despise a fight, but it was not the reason he had originally come here for. He took a few steps towards the intruder, his fingers flexing in pain and anticipation along the hilt of his lightsaber.

"My business," Varos said, his voice filtered and altered in a harsher, mechanical tone from his helmet, "is my own. What bring a Jedi to the ruins of Exegol? This is not a place for your kind."

"Neither is it yours." Jonyna frowned, doing a loop with her speeder around what she assumed was a sith. "This planet is shattered and defeated. I came here because some red, tall, and stupid guy decided they wanted to waste my time. Now answer my question first, sith."

"Sith..." Varos said, the word dangling on the edge of his tongue for a few moments. "I am no Sith, stranger. Just as you, before much longer, will no longer be a Jedi." Varos turned his head to the side sharply locking his gaze on the circling speeder, and a build up within the Force could be felt as Varos shot his free hand out, fingers outstretched into a claw.

"Soon, you shall be nothing but a corpse!" With those words, Varos released the build up of Force energy and shot his will into the rock around them, tearing it from its foundation and crafting a semi-circle of stone in the path of the speeder bike several meters tall. He also activated the lightsaber in his hand, the blue blade erupting to life with an almost pain filled snap hiss, as if the crystal within wished to resist the activation. Varos leapt forward, blade at the ready, prepared to launch a follow up strike for whatever the Jedi did to react to his opening move.

And there it was. She knew this wouldn't end in a friendly chat, so the moment the burst of energy shot from his hand, she launched herself out of the seat with a burst of flame from her feet, intentionally rolling forward as she crashed through the glasteel roof of the speeder's cockpit. She really did need to get better at using these damn things, but that was a lesson for another day. For now though, she braced herself as she went through the roof, using her coat and the Force to allow herself to pass through the roof without injury, all the while drawing her own saber, Lucy, to prep for whatever came next.

The Bike flew backwards, letting out a thud as it rolled onto it's side and behind Jonyna, the Cathar twirling to the side midair, using one hand to fire off another spout of flame to give her some momentum as she slashed at the air between her and Varos, an arc of flame shooting out at her opponent. If he wasn't a sith, then he sure was a dark sider. Didn't matter what he called himself, they were all sith to her.
