Blackened Valkyrie — The 14th Wife

Location - Quelli Sector

The Red and black ship maintained a slow approach as it left hyperspace. Teresa lent back in her chair and let out a long airy shigh. The trip had been boring which was good yet in a ship big enough for a crew it was lonesome. In her profession it did not allow for attachment, she had to condition herself that way. Some people worked long hours for little pay. Her career so far was blood was worth its weight in credits. The more important or dangerous the higher the price. In her time she had taken a politician here, gang boss there and many slave owners. Her favorite was the slavers as it gave her much pleasure due to her past. In fact she made it a sport to make their deaths slow. The most creative was slowly dipping one into a vat of magma. The screams the lady let out sent pleasant tingles through the sith. Often she made the excuse that if it was not her assassinating it would be someone else, and the thing is Teresa was good at it.

"This is VCX Shadow, requesting access to a hanger. I have an appointment to have a shield installed." She said over the coms as the light freighter was waiting in the area now at a standstill. She had not used her full name knowing many companies did not sell to anyone affiliated with the sith empire. However acquiring the best parts for the ship meant risks was worth taking. It had only been recently the woman had saved enough credits to splurge on tech for the ship, really it was needed. No shields meant taking long routes over asteroid belts and avoiding firefights at all costs. As she waited there for a response her eyes peered down the the several pouches of credits attached to her hip. The lightsaber that was normally in the spot had been hidden in a secret compartment. Yet the blaster rifle that the woman acquired was on a wall mount by the ramp of the ship. It was not a preference of weapon, really she disliked them to some extent yet she did find useful while in flight.

Mig walked out from the secretive port that had recently been built into the Artemis. He smiled a little as he slid his helmet on, walking up to Main Street to go check on some progress. He’d recently helped with a weapons run that had been... “taken” by “pirates.” Fun times. As he came up, the lead engineer, Aries, looked at Mig.

“Fun trip?”

“Yeah.... Fun.” Aries just chuckled, looking over some Toscans that were being modified before getting a call from the bridge.

“Bridge to Lead. We have a freighter IDing as VCX Shadow requesting a hanger.” Aries cracked a smile, quickly calling back.

“Tell them to fly to the bow entrance of Main Stre... I mean the main production hanger. I’ll meet them there. And you, make sure these Banshee squadron Toscans are ready for delivery today. Got it!” A “Yes sir” would come over the comms and from a nearby engineer as Aries began to hop a shuttle to the bow. “Wanna come Alor?” Mig smiled and nodded a little, hopping on to see what was going on.

The all clear came through with directions to the hanger she was to land at. Upon her lap was the mask of Revan, the real mask of Revan. Stories go that it once belonged to a mandalorian taken by a jedi turned sith and turned again. Now the mask was part of her identity in keeping her face a secret. "Copy that, en route to the hanger now." She responded over the coms as she put the helmet on however it had been a long time since she was able to wear the robes themselves. Ever since she became an experiment years ago. The ships engines began a burn bring her closer to the very large craft. Once more the ship moved slowly as it reached the entryway of the hanger and inside till over the designated spot. As the ship's landing gear touched the floor hisses squeezed out at the hydraulics took the full weight of the craft. Teresa was glad it was not a Sith made craft instead it was one that came from Inquisitions Industries. That alone gave her more freedom of movement.

Pressing a green flashing button the engines powered down turning the button red. The woman sat there for a moment as she gauged the surroundings of the hanger, at least what she could see. Even if this was business she had to be careful with her words. The pit pat trailed as she left the cockpit and made her way down to the loading ramp. A swift wave of her hand and the ramp lowered slowly. Not waiting for it to stop she had already started walking on it, and as the woman reached the end it would be firm against the hanger floor. She bared no arms to show no hostilities was afoot and honestly she hoped that non would arise. She knew a mandalorian owned the company and they would bite at a chance to capture a sith, even one who was not even a known subject or bare much power. After all even she believed herself to be... expendable.

"Hello!?" She woman shouted out garnering the attention of anyone around. "Urm supposed to meet someone, a Mig Gred, I think." She did not actually research the person she was meeting, It meant she did not know what he was doing these days. Nothing about his escapades into the sith space or bringing down assets owned by the government. It was business and thus only the company name was the thing she researched, and the fact a new line of shield systems came onto their market. That alone was the only thing that piqued her interest.

The small shuttle-transport would soon touchdown near the Shadow, and Mig would look at the individual. There was a coldness about her, the Dark Side perhaps, but the person before him didn't act like a Sith. He tilted his head. No weapons. A mask. Maybe she was ok. Mig would walk up, extending a hand to greet the new arrival.

"That would be me, ma'am. And this is my head engineer, Aries. So you're here about a shield, right?" He was somewhat glad the Mando-only gear was all in the finishing hangers, and not in sight on Main Street. That would've been an... interesting conversation to say the least. Mig also too the chance to look over the Shadow. She was definitely a VCX-100 model, and with the assault shuttle still intact. Not a common sight. Usually they had some other shuttle rigged up to replace the old one, especially since just the assault shuttles were hard to come by. "Gotta say, she looks impressive."

The woman turned to face the men that came from the back of a shuttle and began walking towards her. Her eyes would look them over studying their walk that could tell much about a person. From Mig she could tell he was a warrior, the other man however walked like a working man. As they approached one of them stuck their hand out and she returned the gesture in kind. "Pleasure to meet you, and that is correct." Teresa said watching as he turned attention to her ship and so did she. In the back of her head Teresa was glad not to be greeted by weapons, although to think about it they could have wiped her out on approach. That alone made her feel less tense, it meant they had not tried to dig up anything about her.

"The shadow has served me well for some time. It's a newer model made by Inquisition industries, same for the shuttle. However when I requested the commission I couldn't afford the full price. An agreement was made that the main craft would be bare bones. Standard thrusters, weapons, advance systems or even shields would be added to the main ship. I have to rely on the fighter shuttle if I am going anywhere that would be hostile. As you could understand it is worrying leaving what I consider my home in a different system. A shield alone would make me feel safer, and not take the long way through asteroid belts." She said which laid out why the ship lacked what most would call necessary. "I have a manual of the ship, was told by the woman who sold it me to pass it to the people who would install these items. I'm no mechanic and have little idea about these things. If you need access to locked rooms please let me know."

Mig looked over the ship, then looked to the owner as she explained why the Shadow seemed so... barebones. Aries just chuckled as he looked, not even looking at the manual at first as he spoke.

“Well, you’re either one of the bravest or stupidest pilots I’ve ever met. At least you made a good choice. Originally a Corellian model, so easy of modification should still apply. Should still be sure Inquisition didn’t alter something.” As Aries wacked away at the manual and directed some techs to get the Vex shield, Mig looked at the ships owner, shrugging a little before speaking up.

“So, I usually ask when I get the chance. What brought you here? We’re good a specialty work, but there are easier to locate companies.”

She'd turn her head to face the engineer as he spoke. "I would say I am cautious for the most part, and yeah took a liking to the design. Honestly she handles better than any other ship I've had the pleasure to fly. Few became scrap quickly although except this ship all others had previous owners." Teresa said in a more upbeat tone than before as she began to relax some and it showed as her wings dropped lower to the ground rather than been tensed. Mig then began to speak although how he worded it made it seem like one of those surveys. Still she would oblige him with an answer. "Honestly most companies sell generic or say it's a new model but it's the same with a slight upgrade. Preferably when I am spending credits I go where the quality and outshines what is on the common market when it comes to things that could mean a matter of life and death. Besides that, she is a special ship to me and deserved a specialty touch."

Teresa's hand would brush against one of the seven pouches on her side making a small shuffle of metallic sounds. "That reminds me are you wanting the payment now or after installation? In our interactions of the holonet you said it would come to around five thousand plus the installation fee of three hundred right?" Teresa asked wondering how the man would prefer it. With getting the ship it was payment on delivery. Other personal touches like her handcrafted bed was credits before the work. People did business differently all over the galaxy.

Aries looked back to Pellax as he nodded. "Well, good to know you can handle yourself. Seems like shield mounting is simple enough too. Should be done in no time."

Mig nodded, smiling under his helmet as his current customer noted wanting to give what was a special ship to her a specialist's touch. He understood the feeling all too well, especially considering stuff like that had gotten him through a few scrapes. "I know the feeling. Specialty gear tends to be what you really want for ship like this." She the asked about the payment for getting this new shield. He nodded, looking back at the ship. "That right. Usually wait for the equipment to be installed before taking pay though."

Teresa smiled although the man would not see it. "Well not like I am going anywhere." She said with a slight giggle. Her hands reached down to her side taking off five of the pouches each containing a thousand credits and handed them to the man in the mandalorian helmet. She then opened up a sixth to take out five hundred credits. "That should be right." Looking back to the ship again she wondered how long it would take to install the device. As she stood there Teresa considered asking if there was some kind of waiting room, although one thing she wanted more was a cup of caf, even if it was not a good one. Honestly she was addicted to the taste. "I don't suppose you have a Caf dispenser on the ship? I ran out during my trip and feth I am dying for one." She said giggling once more to come off as friendly. Turning her back to the side to ensure she did not whack the man in his face, her wings would stretch up along with her arms that crossed at the wrist. In a way she was rather surprised that he's not asked about the wings or even her metal fingernails. Generally these things stood out, Especially since there was no species that matched her description.

Mig couldn't help but chuckle some at the remark. It was true, she couldn't really go anywhere, but it was how he usually worked. He quickly checked the count, and nodded hooking the pouches to his own belt. The woman then asked about a caf dispenser. Mig smiled under his helmet, and nodded before showing the way to a break room. He had noticed the wings and nails, but they didn't really faze the Mando. He'd worked as a merc a long time ago, and the Galaxy was full of characters. For all he knew she was from Rishi Maze or Firefist.

"Hope this old unit fit your liking. The install shouldn't take too much longer." He then looked, tilting his head before speaking up again, clearly curious about something. "So, what exactly do you do? Smuggling, hunting, risky hauling?"

The woman followed the man in beskar as he asked a question that required most of a truth with a few missing details. "I hunt for a living. Usually contracted to hunt people, sometimes I'm contracted for espionage. Then there are the people who think they can back out a contract after the job is done. Suppose you could say I am a bounty hunter of sorts." She said with ease. There was no reason to create a full on lie. Teresa knew people had good insight and working out people who blatantly lie.

The aroma of caf filled her nose as it began to fill the cup. She could not believe she had ran out of the stuff. She doubted that this ship had a store on it for outsiders.

Mig looked at Teresia as she explained she was a sort of bounty hunter. It seemed a bit janky, but... it sounded like a reasonable claim. Like a repo/bounty hunter meets a standard merc. He tilted his head, speaking up again. "So you're a do-it-all merc? Seems about right for someone flying an old VCX." He looked around, hearing some equipment running by before thinking again.

"I think the engineers should be about to get the shield installed. Does make me curious what your best mission was, that you can say at least."

Her eyes shifted up as her head tilted to the side for just a moment, not that the man would see beyond the mask. "I suppose you could say that. Honestly what ever puts credits in my pocket to keep the ship flying and food on the table I will do. Also the girl is not an old model, just an old design. Honestly liked the shape, just at the time could only afford the bare bones with practically noting on it. So in a way it's been like a little project to keep me motivated to never stop moving forward."

Teresa's attention quickly snapped to the sounds behind her only to see it was people doing their work. As much as she kept a calm demeanour it would not take away instincts to know her surroundings. Given she has little trust for anyone, it was natural for her to seem a little jumpy especially since she had some bad experiences in the past. The wings was a testament to that. "That is good news. You can't begin to understand how terrifying it is to not have shields, especially in a galaxy where you never when you may stumble upon the galactic dumbass powers brawling it out." There was a very brief chuckle that escaped her lips.

"As for my best job, well that is a tough one. Lets see, would have to be a CEO that had a death mark. Guy owned an entire tower filled to the brim with security droids and some not so core world legal war droids. Guy came across as very paranoid on the sheet, for good reason. Not often you get a death mark that has a reason attached to it either. He had some.... what they called... senator's daughter that had been kidnapped by slavers. He apparently owned a factory that ran off child labour.

Anyway the last thing anyone expects is someone who can fly crash through the penthouse window. Dragged the man out and dropped him. three hundred odd floors. Lets just say, it was hard to get the payment of that one. There was not much to recognise what was left. It was left in dispute till it reached headlines."
