Campaign Shadow Over the Rim: Eos

Varin noticed his chuckle fade when he called him a creature of no honor. His stare pierced towards him in a glare.

“Honor is for fools, and has no place amongst the Sith. A lesson you will learn in time as well, if you live that long.”

Varin scoffed at his words as he brought his saber up in a defensive stance.

“If you have already abandoned it in replacement for shelter, power or comfort; then you are already dead. You just do not know it yet.”

He paused as he watched his foe.

“I pity you. Perhaps you would have made a fine soldier in our ranks. But you chose the easy path, proving forth you are not worthy of the position of allies.”

He listened as his opponent spoke of his purpose.

“I could grant you that mercy too. You are never free if you are limited. You, look extremely limited right now."

A squad of Wonosans had finally come in for backup to drive back the attacking force. Varin let out a quiet sigh of frustration. Without looking at them he announced to the crew.

“I have this under control.”

It was at this point he heard their weapons ready to fire as he slowly turned to look at them.

“Do tell my dear sister Revna and the High Priest that Veradun says hello, will you? If they want to know the truth of what became of me, then they should ask the Darkseeker.”

Varin quickly looked at his foe who had just leapt out of the circle of flames, before he could react, the squad of Wonosan’s open fired upon him. Quickly he lifted his saber and began deflecting the bolts.

“What are you all doing!? Stand down!”

His order fell upon deaf ears as the bolts began to overwhelm him, lifting his other hand he flexed his fist. In the next second their blasters crumpled into scrap piles, crushed beyond use. One by one they all began to charge him with ferocity in their eyes.

Varin roared at them as he disengaged his saber facing them all with his bare hands. Their hand to hand fighting experience was not quite on par with Varin’s, and his strength became the main tipping factor as he struck, threw, kicked, headbutted and slung his opponents to the ground. They refused to give up, slowly getting back up still willing to try to kill Varin with everything they had. Varin’s breath was beginning to grow heavy as he grabbed his saber.

“Varin to Lord Strosius, the assailant got away. I’m turning myself in after this mission.”

After he finished speaking his message his comms fell out of his ear as he narrowly dodged a vibroblade and countered with his massive saber, bisecting the Wonosan where he stood. He stared the rest of the group down as he gripped his hilt in one hand and drew his mace.

“May you all have peace after this battle. I pray you will all forgive me.”

After speaking his prayer he began carving and crushing his new foes, each death weighing heavily in his chest. This wasn’t what he wanted, he was trusted to take care of these men and women, and here he is now slaughtering all of them that dare attack him. Blow after blow the herd was thinning, finally he was down to the last few. His breathing was harsh and deep as he let out a loud yell silencing the last few that dared attack him. The ground beneath them cracked as he stood over their broken corpses.

Varin’s saber disengaged as his mace hit the ground cracking the stonework beneath it as it let out a heavy clang. Slowly Varin fell to his knees as he looked at the faces of those he ended around him. Just by him was his comms, setting it back in his ear he sent a message to Revna and Strosius.

“I…had no choice…I…Forgive me.”

He breathed slowly for a moment as he sent them his coordinates.

“Veradun gave me a message to you both. Said to seek the Darkseeker if you wish to know what happened with him.”

His voice fell quiet as he gently lowered his hand on the face of one of the fallen Wonosan’s, gently closing the corpse's eyes.

Silently he vowed a promise to himself.

If I ever see him again, I will not hesitate next time. He will die by my hand.
