Public Shadow of the Dread Fortress | Open

x

EPISODE ??

A crisis befalls the people of WROONA. The terrible, genius DR. NF4R-10S has unleashed a weapon of great power: THE DREAD FORTRESS. A flying droid factory powered by a relentless molecular furnace. The vessel uses the natural forests of WROONA to fuel itself and its production of BATTLE DROIDS.

DR. NF4R-10S has built an ARMY OF DREAD which he threatens to unleash if the people do not proclaim him their Emperor. To prove he is serious, he has deployed this army against a small, yet culturally significant settlement deep in the wildlands.

Time runs out for the defenders of the settlement as they prepare for a desperate stand. The DOCTOR'S forces march forth to conquer the settlement and force the WROONIAN'S hand...

Staying turned out to be the worse option.

Diamond Dog, Gank Bounty Hunter living on the edge of sanity, looked out across the verdant fields beyond the perimeter edge of the Wroonian settlement. Dozens upon dozens of droids emerged from the treelines. Many wielded blasters, others blades, many more held various kinds of nonetheless-deadly tools. Beyond them, on the horizon, a bright glow announced the terrible Dread Frotress of Dr. NF4R-10S.

DD really didn't understand much about ecological cataclysms or great dread fortresses, but he did understand credits. And violence. He had just concluded another errand for some client, when the local Wroonians had approached him with an offer of both. They were expecting an attack and needed all the help they could get until help could arrive. Not one to turn down good business--especially when it involved smashing up some droid central processing units--DD had graciously accepted the offer.

But as he now stood, alone against an army of unfeeling machines of death, he saw that this task might be beyond his abilities.

But surely there would be others who would come to the settlements aid?

// The singular thought behind this: "public thread, bad guys to shoot, 10 minutes effort per post."
It's supposed to be silly, cool, and light-hearted Star Wars fun. Feel free to jump in to help, or oppose, our daring heroes as they prepare to save all these poor Wroonians and their trees.

<"How much further?"> Kyric asked the pilot over his commlink.

The kiffar, alongside any other Jedi he could muster on such short notice, moved about in preparation for the coming battle. They knew very little of the enemy and their forces. Requests for aid came through closely guarded channels maybe hours before, and those of the Order closest to Wroona mobilized quickly. Their dropship raced down from atmosphere at a jarring speed. The ship bucked with a wild turbulence brought about by the anti-air gun's fashioned into the Dread Fortress.

<"Sixty seconds, Karis."> the pilot answered. He spoke with the confidence of a man who spent more time in the air than on the ground. <"Prep-times over, kiddos. Get in the drop pod. I'll only manage a single fly-by with this much flak in the air.">

Kyric nodded to himself, then cast his gaze to the two Jedi he knew best among their makeshift strike team.

Kellan Jericho and Kas Larsen—both relatively new faces among the Order, not unlike the Kiffar himself. But the short history meant very little when Kyric considered the two men. He saw within them the very same strength his father, the late Sword of the Jedi, saw in the likes of Lucien Dooku and Maynard Treicolt. And the kiffar couldn't ask for much else when facing down an army of droids.

<"Time to lock in, gentlemen. We're lookin' at a real chit-show, here.">

Kyric stepped into his segment of the drop pod and yanked the metallic bars down over his chest. Affixed in place, the Jedi Knight tightened his grip around the cool durasteel handles and released a measured breath. He hadn't seen a fight like this since Coruscant, but he found excitement burning where normally he felt fear. Something had changed within the kiffar since his escape from the Obredaan prison almost a month back. He had found his fire again; thanks in no small part to the two Jedi beside him.

Without warning, the floor dropped out beneath their pod and Kyric watched the world's rapid approach with a broad smile.
