Shades of Black: Chapter 1 [pm to join]

Film+Noir+Image.jpg

A mother frantically washes the blood from the ground where her daughter once lay, as if it would bring her back. A local business owner murdered for failure to pay protection money. A woman trapped in the sex trade for fear of harm from a sleeze bag pimp. This is a taste of what I see every day. President Ross wants you to believe that everything is crime free and without trouble, and he might be right when he speak it from his ivory towers. But down here, down in the under city of Antecedent, the only thing that changed was management. People are still shooting and killing but instead of a gang banger being killed it's innocent civilians who end up dead in the cross fire between sets who fail to pledge allegiance to them. I don't know who they are yet, but I will find out. And when I do people will answer for it."

A lone figure walked the under city streets of Antecedent tucking at his jacket and pushing at his hat to keep the winds from air filtration centers from blowing it away. An older gentleman in his thirties, he wore a serious face as he continued to stroll down a residential neighborhood. His eyes were set on one thing a building not far from him on his left where a group of what could only be described as thugs sat around. As he approached them they all began to stand and perk their heads over to him watching ever so slightly to case him up and down and see if he was worth mugging. But before they could figure it out the man stopped in front of the apartment complex's steps and looked at the men standing there.

"What the fuck you looking at old man?" the lead thug said as he looked down from the high ground.

"Someone who will give me the information I want to know. This is Jay's place, I know who you are." He retorted back.

The crew of about four men all gave off various chuckles and snickers over his response and the leader looked over to one of his boys before the man in the coat snapped his fingers.

"Don't look at him spook, look at me. You're going to tell me what I want." and that's when every smile seemed to fade away and twist into scowls and deadly looks of malicious intent.

"Alright, then it's like that." The leader of the set didn't hesitate, and while he wasn't a trained killer he was a killer none the less so there wasn't another word uttered before he drew the sleek black shine of blaster pistol from his waistband and pointed it towards the man in the coat.

But the man in the coat didn't falter or hesitate either. With a flash and blue of movement he stepped aside and gripped the gun man's forearm and with his other hand pushed his elbow inward with a loud breaking noise to spurt out Crimson blood and white bone. The gunman screamed in pain and before anyone knew it the man in the coat grabbed the pistol and put two bolts into the man nearest to him watching him drop dead.

"KILL THIS queen!!" the leader cried out in pain as he coughed blood, but he was quickly silenced by a jab to the throat and sweep towards the hard duracrete steps.

The remaining two quickly tried to draw their own pistols but were quickly gunned down by the man in the coat. One to the head and the other in the chest. As shots rang out and people hid in their homes the only sound left was that of a coughing and wheezing of a broken man upon the apartment steps. The man in the coat tossed the blaster aside and looked down at him watching as he tried to crawl his way up the steps.

With his foot he swiftly turned the man around barely missed the knife that the man had as he tried to lunge at him from the ground. Catching his hand he pushed his elbow inward guiding the knife to stab the gangster in his own gut. Blood poured from the wound and the man screamed out again.

"WHO ARE THEY!? WHOSE MOVING THE DRUGS AND GUNS!?" The man in the coat screamed at the wounded thug.

The man coughed more blood and didn't say anything at first, but that was before his interrogator twisted the knife in his belly causing another round of screams that echoed off the enclosed walls of the undercity.

"TALK AND ILL CONSIDER LETTING YOU GO!!"

"ALRIGHT!! ILL TALK JUST STOP!" The man gasped and held his wound tight.

"They call themselves the Syndicate or something! I don't know! But we're just sellers! We buy their product at a warehouse on Tenth and Oak! I don't know anything else I swear just let me go." Spilling his guts to the man the wounded gangster choked on his sobs and curled himself up in pain.

Standing up the man in the coat looked over towards the abandoned street and thought to himself that kids should be playing right now. That children should be able to safely walk the street without fear of being mugged or killed, and it was the gangster's fault. Looking down at the wounded man he spotted the blaster pistol he tossed and the thug noticed it.

"No, no no no, please don't do this. Please I told you everything I know! You said you'd let me go!" His cries fell on deaf ears as the man picked it up and pressed the priming button to let the pistol charge with an electric hum.

"I said I'd consider it." the man in the coat would then aim for the gangster's head.

"NO!!"

The gun went off followed by the sound of dead meat and a spent pistol hitting the ground.

Enter the Dragon

At the luxurious and massive Dragon Palace Casino the sounds of slot machines and poker tables were in sync with the low roar of the crowd in a hustling bustling symphony of sin and credits being won and lost. It was a rather packed weekend night at the palace and every celebrity on the planet was there drinking, socializing, and having fun. It was all projecting the image of an operation that was on the up and up and one you could trust. However there was a more seedy element to it lurking just above the sights of happiness and rush of gambling.

In the sky box looking down Miss Blonde sat down in a spinning office chair. Turning herself around she overshot the menacing "evil swivel chair reveal" that was so popular in movies she enjoyed watching.

"Sorry." She said as she adjusted herself to face the two people that were behind her.

Bound and on their knees two rather scared looking men who looked beaten half to death were panting and breathing rather deeply. They coughed and looked up at Blonde with their eyes almost swollen shut from bruises.

"Police put you two at the scene, and personally I happen to trust the police seeing how I own them. Now before you lie to me again I want to know who knocked over our warehouse in the undercity, I've yet to tell anyone the news and it's been contained. If you don't start talking I'm going to find someone else who will." Blonde said with deadly intent.

"Boss we swear! We were on break! We didn't see nothing! When we got back everyone was dead! All we saw was one guy in a mask hoping the fence!" The black tie said as he pleaded.

"You expect me to believe that one person killed all my guards and stole the hard drives containing millions of credits!? All of our last auction credits just gone!!" Blonde yelled and soon after she calmed herself then sighed.

"Boss we swear! It was one guy, that's the truth!" The other goon chimed in and cowered a bit.

"You know what I think is the truth? You two and someone else stole my money and are looking to get out. So we're going to handle this situation." The woman would snap her fingers and have her two personal guards brandish knives and walk forward to approach the downed and cuffed men.

"You can't do this! We'll scream! They'll hear us! Back off now!" Blonde tilted her head and held up her hand for her men to stop.

She would then look over to her PA system and take the microphone in her hand. She flipped it on and spoke into the mic.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have two birthdays today. Everyone who sings for our birthday boys James and Ben will get a free round of drinks! Make it loud and proud so they can hear you." The PA system would stop and like a choir of sloppy drunk singers it started up in a very loud rendition of "Happy Birthday" on the casino floor.

Blonde would then snap her fingers and her men would proceed to go to work with the sound of happy voices muffling out the screams of her former men.

After that unpleasantness was taken care of the woman was on the casino floor and was shaking hands with multiple movie stars and politicians. Little did she know that she was in for a long night at the dragon palace. She'd informed every member of the Black Ties to be there tonight for added security, if someone was indeed knocking over their properties it was a good idea to be secure at home.
