What began as mutual attraction developed through trust, companionship, shared silence, and a willingness to remain beside one another without demands. Somewhere along the way, Varin ceased being merely someone Seren allowed into her life. He became someone she could no longer imagine losing.
The realization frightened her more than any enemy or ritual ever had.
Love has not transformed Seren into someone openly sentimental. She remains private, cautious, and slow to expose the most vulnerable parts of herself. However, the barriers she keeps no longer exist to prevent Varin from reaching her. They remain because Seren spent much of her life believing her survival depended upon them, and even love cannot erase those instincts immediately.
Varin knows her more completely than anyone else alive. He has seen the scholar beneath the sorceress, the woman beneath Darth Eryndis, and the quiet hope beneath her practiced control.
