SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Beskar Plates: Made painfully rare in the wake of the fall of Mandalore and the strip-mining of its reserves by the Sith, the hallowed metal of the Mando'ade remains a game-changer, capable of deflecting blaster bolts and of withstanding the strikes of lightsabers alike.
  • Mobility: With the Beskar plating concentrated on key areas of the upper body and absent from the lower body (with the exception of knee pads), the user is afforded a great deal of mobility. Combined with the light leather armor and the ankle height light tactical boots, the breadth of movement is practically unparalleled as far as beskar'gam goes.
  • Inconspicuous: Thanks to the small amount of beskar plates and the addition of a humble cloak (and hood), the figure of its wearer remains ambiguous from a distance... or, in fact, until someone decides to pay close attention at a short distance, at which point they are well within range of the wrath of the Mandalorian in question.
WEAKNESSES
  • Beskar Coverage: Although the suit is made of the strongest material at clan Kryze's disposal, the choice of plate coverage leaves more than a few gaps to exploit by precise adversaries - especially from the stomach down. Cortosisweave provides added resistance to cover those areas, but an observant foe will find exploitable spots if their eye is keen.
  • Wanderer's Choice: Designed as it is to provide what a warrior needs along a lonesome road taking them across the stars, the armor finds itself sorely lacking in what Jenn regards as unnecessary clutter. There is nothing high-tech about this suit of beskar'gam: no automated medical systems or assisted targeting modules. The only electronic system is the helmet's HUD, rangefinder, and comms.
  • Acid and Current: Although the armor was designed to withstand extreme weather conditions encountered during one's travels, it is not capable of handling the averse conditions linked to man-made environments. Corrosive and electrical forms of damage are particularly effective against this suit of armor: unorthodox weapons to use in war, but a hazardous environment encountered in certain sections of urban environments nonetheless.
DESCRIPTION
When Varys Amun chose to follow Jenn, Alor of clan Kryze to find her own destiny among the stars, she was cast out of her clan. Lyka Amun, her birth mother, denied her the right to her own beskar'gam, leaving her in naught but ceremonial armor. Hardly a surprise, then, that Jenn decided to reassert her love for her adoptive daughter by crafting her a suit of armor that would reflect her needs and desires: a symbol of acceptance of who this bold young warrior wanted to be. All too aware of Varys' wanderlust, Jenn made the armor as a statement, too: a sign of acceptance of her child's desire to let her feet take her near and far from the clan. Because of this, its design philosophy was centered around sustaining a lone warrior's journey, with no chance of calling upon any allies for aid.

Between the hallowed beskar plates and the cortosisweave, the armor was engineered to offer the greatest possible resistance against lightsabers - a weapon favored by the ancient enemies of the Mando'ade, may they be Jedi or Sith. With that said, the beskar plates are strategically placed to cover the head, shoulders, and chest, thus offering an amazing amount of mobility to its wearer. Thanks to this design choice (as well as the addition of a humble, but comfortable hooded cloak) the lone ronin blessed with this suit can remain rather inconspicuous from a distance and at first glance. A Mandalorian warrior hardly needs anything more than such an opportunity.

Naturally, the armor is far from perfect - no beskar'gam ever is. As with most suits of this type, kinetic damage remains a tried-and-tested method of disabling its wearer: although the beskar may very well absorb a powerful strike from an enemy, the body beneath it may very well fail to respond as adequately. It is not unheard of for a Mandalorian to suffer from a direct hit by a weapon with a high kinetic impact, their armor absorbing the raw damage - only for the kinetic force to shatter the bones and rupture the organs of the person behind. And, in spite of Jenn's foresight in planning for extreme weather conditions, there is only so much she could do to withstand the hazardous environments type of battlefield conditions: corrosive acids and electric shocks in particular have no counter-measures available but ample caution.

Perhaps most significant of all was Jenn's choice to melt down her old pauldrons to use in the creation of her daughter's armor, or the fact that she modified her own helmet and gave it to her. A simple, but powerful statement of maternal affection: a promise that she would always protect her, one way or another.
