Seeing The Truth (Siobhan)

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]
The terms were readily agreed to and the call disconnected.

However, there was a lot of distance between those two places, and in that time Eyrecae woke. Harmony, one of Siobhan’s ‘personal assistants’, had been monitoring her, and came to find Siobhan.

“Mistress…Eyrecae is awake,” she said softly.

Siobhan was very fond of Harmony. The dark skinned girl was easy on the eyes, efficient and very attentive to the Countess'...special needs. Moreover, she was a devout believer in the teachings of the Great Goddess Ardarvia. While Siobhan was by no means a religious fundamentalist, it was good to have people around who understood the message of the faith and eagerly partook in the sacred rites.

Unfortunately, right now there was no time for worship. "Thank you, dear," she said warmly, giving the girl a deep kiss. "Could you go harass the cooks so that they get a meal ready for her?" she asked before departing to the medbay, where Eyrecae was presumably waiting.

"Hey, made some calls. Looks like your nanites got switched off. We're en route to pick up a doctor who's a specialist in nanotech," she spoke in Eldarai. After having putting a surprising amount of effort into learning the language, Siobhan could converse very well in it. At times she messed up the grammar a bit, particularly when writing, but on the whole she did well.

Eyrecae yawned, staring vaguely at Siobhan. “Hmm, I guess they’ll help,” she said despondently. When Harmony brought the meal in, Eyrecae ate it without much enthusiasm. Usually she tore into meals like she was starving, but today it almost seemed like she was disinterested, her mind elsewhere.
Harmony took her leave and left.

“Siobhan…I….” She trailed off. “Things probably haven’t turned out how either of us expected. I hope that we can get a better result in the future.” Even now, Eyrecae was proud, and would not admit her actions had been wrong. But in a roundabout way she was admitting that she hoped the future was better.

“Well, I guess my brief career as a Firemane employee is over. I doubt I can even lift that hammer anymore.”
She grinned at Siobhan unexpectedly, shifting from maudlin to amused. “Though maybe you need another personal assistant, huh? They do say the pen is mightier than the sword. Stupid phrase, the pen would have to be really sharp….”

[member="Eyrecae Alzari"]

I hope you do better.

"Or accelerated to a ridiculously high velocity with lots of telekinetic force," Siobhan said very dryly, though she had little time for ballistakinesis herself.

"Well, I bet the paperwork would bore you, though you do have special skills I appreciate in an assistant....," she trailed off as she sat down on the bed next to Eyrecae. "Look, ages ago I lost my powers. Well, Adril and I. Fun fact, happened because of a battle with Shadow. He's fond on demonic possession as well. You could say he's my Raik'aro. Went on a long-arse, dangerous quest to get them back. Adril almost died, but we succeeded. Bottom line is, there's no point in giving up yet before you've tried. If he switched them off, there's a flip to get them on again."

One might also add that perhaps this whole experience was supposed to be a lesson for Eyrecae, who would now have to build herself up again without the aid of superpowers after she had been brought down to the level of a mortal. Well, one could of course say that there was nothing wrong with being normal. After all, 99.99% of the Galaxy managed, though somehow space wizards and other 'super-beings' had commandeered 90% of the Galaxy's top jobs, but since Siobhan really liked being one of the aforementioned mages she would not say that!

Eyrecae looked down at her hand, playing with the dressing on her hand. Finally she could bear it no longer and pulled it off. The cut was slightly better than before, but was still there, taunting Siobhan with its refusal to heal.
“A quest, huh? Sounds fun.”

A pause. “So, you know that Ashira is my mother, obviously. Do you know that Chesna is my sister? Well, I think she is. Mother claimed her as her daughter. I don’t know how she’s still alive all these years later though. Is she immortal like I was? I had other sisters too, but I’ve heard no word of them, so I guess they must be dead. See, we weren’t proper daughters…not born the standard way. We were the daughters of Ashira, meant to be the templates for the army Raik’aro was creating. But then my siblings intermarried with the other Eldorai who had been created, and our powers were watered down. I was the only daughter without access to my Sciia…I was to be the warrior, and that was why Raik’aro chose me. Do you know what happened to Ashira? Did Chesna tell you? Nothing I’ve read has told me, just a lot of religious nonsense.”

In response Siobhan shook her head. "I've found that's easier to chew on durasteel without losing your teeth than get an actual answer out of Chesna about herself. She's good at...being distracting," she said with a small smile. Eyrecae and Chesna were certainly...very different in a number of ways. Apparently Siobhan had a habit of getting it on with sisters. Well, not both at the same time of course! But she had been sleeping with Anya and Silaqui concurrently. For reasons Siobhan did not understand Anya had not been thrilled about it!

"It would not have surprised me if she was immortal though. Didn't know Chesna was your sister. Just got a vibe that you two were connected somehow, from when you met at my place. I never heard what really happened to your mother. Just the propaganda nonsense." Needless to say they were conversing in Eldarai. Of course, all of the medical and security personnel tending to Eyrecae was human and knew better than to talk, but better safe than sorry.

"Who knows, maybe she did try to break her chains and lead your people to freedom after the Rakatan tore themselves apart in the 'War in Heaven'. To make up for giving you over to Raik'aro. Myths might have a grain of truth to them. Just got misconstrued over time" Needless to say if that was the case it would make it even more tragic that she was never reunited with her daughter again.

“You humans have a concept of seven virtues and seven vices. Well we had a theory of five Paragons. They would be embodiments of these things. They were; the Warrior, the Mage, the Priestess, the Queen and the Negotiator. The Rakata made the normal Eldorai, and made five of us. Ashira was the Queen, the eldest, our ‘mother’. I was the Warrior, Chesna the Negotiator. There were two others as well, and I believe they became goddesses too to the Eldorai.”
Eyrecae sighed. “I would like to know what happened to them though. Except Chesna, I know what happened to her. Little taigai,” Eyrecae said with a slight smile, the final word being in some dialect Siobhan didn’t understand.

(( prods Valien Nantaris to check pms))

Warrior, Mage, Priestess, Queen and Negotiator! To Siobhan it sort of sounded like a list for a party in a video game. Presumably Chesna's powers would need some serious nerfing if it was!

"Maybe your sister can give you some answers or point you in the right direction. We may still find out," Siobhan said softly, turning to give Eyrecae a deep, affectionate kiss. "What does taigai mean?" It occured to Siobhan that might be the longest conversation she and Eyrecae might have so far ever since the first days when the Dark Star had been new to this world.

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]
Chesna would probably not make much of a good game character as she was incapable of fighting. Still, she probably had a 20+ in Charisma to make up for it!

“It means…wait haha, no. You can ask Chesna I called her it and see what her reaction is!”

“And maybe Chesna knows…but maybe she doesn’t. I don’t understand why she didn’t take her place as queen, why she makes herself a servant. She’s got the power to rule, why does she like being a slave…I mean…all the time.”
Eyrecae couldn’t understand how someone with power wouldn’t use it.

[member="Eyrecae Alzari"]

Chesna could use her super mentalism to confuse and...distract enemies! Yes, distract is the right word. And the party would get goods from merchants for free!

"We all know Chesna tops from the bottom and just makes everyone think they're in charge," Siobhan said half-seriously.

"You liked switching on Dahomey, you know. Guess this would be the moment for some platitudes about how having power doesn't automatically mean you should use it, but it would make so sense for me to say that. Dark Jedi Butcher of Gehenna and all. Power's addictive. Look how at how Raik'aro toyed with your life because he thought he was a god and that the Eldorai should be 'grateful' about being his slaves. She has lots of power and could make herself empress if she wanted. Could get almost anyone to dance to her tune. Me included. Maybe that's why she does not want to use it that way. Slippery slope and all that. She'd be pretty scary if she let it go to her head. I know I love the power I have, I revel in it. Just like I love the feeling that I can tear almost anyone to pieces if they cross me. But there's plenty of moments where I don't want to be in control, at all. Tegs' only power was going to the gym and being awfully at getting people to do what she wanted, but she's a better person than I could ever be. I'm very happy with her calling the shots."

She shrugged. "Besides, ruling isn't all it's cracked out to be. Being Exarch was terribly dull, tedious and annoying. People dump all their problems on you, and mope regardless of what you decide. Even force choking fools loses its novelty after a while."

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]
Eyrecae opened her mouth, then closed it. She was impressed. Siobhan had made a pretty damn good point.
“I guess you’re right,” Eyrecae admitted. “We each had our own skills, and each of them balanced each other. Mystra and Tylania had such powers, each in their own spheres. Mystra was like Kaida, Aeda and Tempest combined, whilst Tylania could heal terrible wounds and bring life back from the point of death. I think it’s about time we found out what happened to them.”

“So who’s this doctor who’s going to see me? Someone you know?”

[member="Eyrecae Alzari"]

Mystra being Team Natural Disaster rolled into one sounded...very destructive. Storms, winds, fire all in one go! For the record, Siobhan still did not like Kaida at all. Why? Big personality clash and the simple fact that all of this writer's can't stand each other. As for Tylania, being able to heal terrible wounds and bring people back from the brink of death sounded like [member="Coryth Elaris"]. It was all very ironic.

"Yes, we should," Siobhan agreed but then turned her mind to more present issues. "He's called Doctor Luca. I don't know him, but Osway recommended him as a nanotech specialist and Tegs did a background check. Far as he knows, you got your super nanites because you were a special weapons project of the Sith Empire before it fell apart. So if there's any questions, we switch out Rakata with Sith...and keep out the part about mummy being the first Eldorai out."

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]
“Got it. Replace one genocidal maniac with another one,” Eyrecae answered. She lay back on her bed again and yawned. “I hope he can turn the nanites back on…I’ve been feeling so damn sleepy….”

And so they progressed onwards to Corellia where the shuttle brought Doctor Luca aboard, along with his medical droid.

In the hanger bay he offered his hand to Siobhan. “Lady Kerrigan, a pleasure. I’m glad you have given me this opportunity. Shall we go see Ms Alzari?”

[member="Eyrecae Alzari"]

As they say time flies, and so now they found themselves orbiting Corellia. For some reason Siobhan did not like the planet that much and thought it overrated!

Anyhow, she met Doctor Luca in the hangar bay and gave the proferred hand a firm shake. "Thank you, Doctor. Please follow me. I'll take you to her." And with that she turned on her heels and guided the doctor through the corridors of the frigate to the medbay where Eyrecae was waiting. Everything looked the way you'd expect a battleship owned by a rising corporation to look and the crewers went about their duties. No literacy modules to see here! Admittedly it seemed that the majority of crew members and guards were female, but that might just be because Firemane was fitting in with the Eldorai.

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]
Doctor Luca and his droid followed her to Eyrecae’s room.
“Hmm, very interesting. A pleasure, Ms Alzari.”
Probably to troll Siobhan a little, Eyrecae rose and nodded. “Likewise, Doctor. I wasn’t aware Siobhan was sending me such a fine physician!”
“I too was not aware that the Lady Countess was having me see such a fine beauty,” the Doctor replied gallantly. He coughed, probably best to get on with it. “So, nanotechnology. May I examine you and take a sample?”
“Oh yes, examine everything you want!” Eyrecae said happily. She offered her arm, and the Doctor extracted a blood and skin sample.
“Lady Kerrigan, do you have a place I can do some tests?” the Doctor asked.

[member="Eyrecae Alzari"]

Needless to say Mistress Thuella would thoroughly discipline Eyrecae for being such a troll once she was fixed up!

Anyhow, smutty thoughts and Siobhan's demand for adoration aside, they had some actual work to do. That was the case even with Firemane sometimes, as surprising as that may seem. Well, the doctor had work to do since he was the science guy. No doubt there would be plenty of technobabble involved at some point. Assuredly space magic as well. Hopefully no star brat though, as fun as Siobhan blowing up his stupid red-green-blue ending machine was last time around.

"Of course, Doctor. We've got a room prepared for you," Siobhan said politely and then led him to whatever this frigate's equivalent of an appropriate science lab was.

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]
Needless to say, once Eyrecae regained her powers she would greatly enjoy said punishment!

Doctor Luca, smiling to himself, headed into the lab. It was small, but serviceable and filled with top quality tech. Needless to say he set to work, but soon had to return to take more samples.
"Most curious, it seems as though the nanites are continually restoring the same pattern template of you. If we switch this back on I'm not sure what will happen. Hopefully it won't be too uncomfortable."

Things happened. The doctor went about his business with the droid. Eyrecae tried to stay awake but dozed off in a chair in the lab.

After a while Doctor Luca pulled Siobhan aside. "We need to find a way to reactivate them quite quickly," he warned quietly. "If not, I fear the nanites will dissolve, and it may kill her. But, I have a method for reactivation, but it is quite dangerous. It may kill her if it doesn't work."

[member="Eyrecae Alzari"]

Well, that was both good and bad. Good because they might have a way to reactivate Eyrecae's nanites without going on a dangerous quest. Bad because she might, well, die in the process, which would obviously suck a lot since she had just started to become a lot more likeable. She and Siobhan had just bonded so nicely! On the other hand if they did nothing she would die anyway, so that was obviously not an option.

Anyhow, outwardly Siobhan made a good effort to look composed and calm as she absorbed the words Luca had been saying. For a change she would not make a lame comment about there being no prize without heavy risk. Perhaps because her writer has gotten tired of plagiarising that line again and again. Or maybe she actually taking this seriously. "I understand. Then we best get to it. What is this method exactly?" she asked seriously. Presumably it was the moment for technobabble that would mostly be above her.

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]
“I’m going to send a bio-electric shock through her to try and restart the nanites from their dormant state. If it works they’ll fire back to life and start to repair her again. If it fails, nothing might happen, but it’s possible the shock will damage her. I’ve never seen any technology like this before, so I can only tell you what I think will happen. It will probably be quite painful, but I think it will work.”
Doctor Luca looked appropriately solemn, especially since Siobhan was the sort – or so rumour claimed – to go Darth Vader on those who failed her.

[member="Eyrecae Alzari"]

Now this one so wants an AU thread where Siobhan is the Darth Vader of a Glorious Eldorai Matriarchy. For she is more machine than woman, twisted and sexy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwio208q3jY

Regardless Doctor Luca did not get force choked. Siobhan was silent for a moment, her expression turned grim as she pondered his words before finally speaking up. Eyrecae better survive his procedure and be made whole again. The Butcher of Roche demanded it! "I see. Then please get started. Hope it works out. I'll stay with her."
