Securing Some Shuttles: contract

John Ash

Ashhearth Industries had made some good products for non-combat purposes. Ships, speeders, and a walker that were all used for more niche roles. The company lacked a good market page but it didn't stop people from finding out about them. And it was one of these times that a travel company out of Nar Shaddaa had come to Ashhearth Industries with a request to discuss purchasing some of their new Courier class shuttles. Credits were credits and despite how there was some shady details about the company in question, John had excepted the request.

John decided now would be a good time to see what his newest employee to his information department could do. He sent a message out to [member="Celty Ree"] that stated:

<We have a contract meeting. Look up all the information you can about this Nar Shaddaa Travel and Transport. Meet me at my office tomorrow morning and we will go meet up with the representatives from NSTT. This is a direct order.>

With the message sent, John went about preparing his materials for the meeting. He got all the information on the Courier class that he could ready as well as a listing for possible prices. Nar Shaddaa wasn't known for being the most legal or safe place, so he also went about getting preparations made in case they needed to defend themselves. Companies were still companies and violence was less likely in the business district of the moon city, but it was still possible. He didn't feel like losing his life or his latest employee so soon just because he didn't make a few preparations.

She had spent the night out at a local club as she worked. Of course she was steady on the drink and blocked out the unnecessary distractions that filled the place. She glossed over the basic details. Like who they paid protection credits to how old their newest ship was. As she delved deeper she'd begin finding some interesting information. Over the years multiple gangs have had their hands deep in the foundation of the company. While it tries to keep a clean name those groups apply pressure. No doubt the need for ships is legitimate. The past two months they had lost many ships from attack of confiscated by authorities all over. She could have delved even deeper all the way down to bedrock, but there was no way she'd be able to go over everything in a few hours.

It was early hours when she returned to ashhearths she had set up a small place out the way inside the building where she had been staying. In a week or two her ship would be back from it's minor retrofit and repairs on certain appliances she may have stripped for parts. She was mostly looking forward to the supports for the many cables to run across. Celty laid into her small air bed after slipping into more comfortable clothing. The alcohol had finally started to hit making it easier to fall asleep. Even if it was five hours, six at a push.

Some hours later she could hear the noise of her data pad bleep in a repetitive tone. She didn't open her eyes as she felt around for it. Her fingers would stumble against it's edge. One eye creeped open looking at the time and swiping thebicon across the stop the annoying sound. Going about her usual morning routine she wasn't sure what version of herself john needed. Celty sat on the edge of the bed in underwear as she called john without video feed. "Mooooorrrrning." She said yawning out the word. "What me do you need today. Dedata or casual?"

There was only one outfit that John had become well known for wearing in the area: his duster armor. He wore it for everything from business to casual nights out to shooting a karker in the chest. Because of this, people rarely knew how to take him when he was wearing it since it always came with a pair of pretty pistols on his hips. Intimidation was the name of the game around Nar Shaddaa and in more corners around the galaxy than people cared to admit. Some achieved this by wearing outlandish gear, some by having a massive fleet of ships, some by aggressively being in someone's face. For John it was about not being predictable to others. He liked it better when people didn't know if he was there to shoot them or hand over some credits. It kept people honest, or so he liked to think. It was better to not tempt the guy with guns to shoot you through the chest than to try and squeeze out an advantage over him after all.

There was still a couple hours until the time for them to head out for the meeting arrived. John was at his home and doing a once over on his gear before they left. He was making sure his armor stayed as clean as possible. It was during this process that a message came through his com from [member="Celty Ree"] asking him a somewhat pointless question. He paused in his work for a moment as he considered a "civil" way of replying to her. He said over the com after a moment, " Come as yourself with all your data. If we need it we have it, if we don't then no harm in having it on hand. Bring a holdout blaster or other weapon and a personal shield. There has been some suspicious movements by this company since they requested to buy the shuttles. This is an order so be sure to follow or else." With that he ended it. He went about finishing up his preparations as well. They would be meeting up soon for this contract and he wasn't planning on screwing it up by forgetting to check his own gear first. Rookie mistakes often got people killed after all.
