Braze looked up to the treetops and just about held his breath as he could feel something drawing closer. He moved to reach out. And tried to get Jonyna's attention but his hand was more so blindly reaching for her as his eyes were turned upwards watching the treetops. He grasped a section of her tail briefly but he didn't tug on it or have a tight grip more like a small one trying to get an adult's attention. He didn't want to make too much sound as he strained his senses trying to hone in on the creature and maybe hear it. He wanted to try and alert Jonyna to it's presence as well... There was certainly an uneasiness that's seemingly became rather vividly felt through the small presence Braze had.

Out from the foliage, a massive beetle burst out, going right for Braze Braze

Jonyna reacted quickly, drawing her saber and slashing at it, cutting it right in half, but spraying Braze with bug guts.

"....sorry."

But the fight wasn't over. Braze could sense something, or somethings, above them.

A caw rang out, some sort of bird, before a colorful, parrot-like creature landed, walking on it's wingtips, and having a head that looked almost like a hammerhead shark, eyes on either end. The creature opened it's mouth, and out of it came Jonyna's voice.

"...sorry."

Braze's eyes widened as the beetle was cut in half, its innards splattering over him. He grimaced, momentarily stunned by the sudden attack and Jonyna's quick reaction. Her apology barely registered as he sensed the presence above them.

When the strange, parrot-like creature landed and mimicked Jonyna's voice, Braze's surprise turned into caution. His training kicked in, and he took a step back, igniting his own lightsaber. The unusual appearance of the creature, coupled with its ability to mimic speech, set off alarm bells in his mind.

"It's okay, Jonyna," Braze said, his voice steady as he kept his eyes fixed on the creature. "But stay alert. There's something not right about this."

He reached out with the Force, trying to sense the intentions of the creature and any other hidden threats. His gut feeling told him that they were not alone, and that this encounter was far from over.

The creature, in return, felt simply curious. He tilted his head, speaking in a serious of chirps and squawks. "Stay Alert." The Azuli spoke in return, mimicking Braze Braze 's voice.

Above them, Braze could feel several other of his species, watching the proceedings with interest.

Jonyna, having dealt with them before, lifted her lightsaber up and waved it around. "Jedi." She spoke, causing the bird to stand up on it's hind legs, looking suddenly alert.

The bird stared at the lightsaber, watching it carefully.

"Jedi." It repeated, it's tone a bit more in awe in the word.

The word repeated, echoing through the trees as other Azuli made themselves known.

Jonyna nodded, looking to Braze Braze and gesturing to her saber. "Get yours out."

"Ya know what let me just... uh... " Braze reached a handout and drew the saber from Jonyna's back right off her using the force and catching it. He flicked it on and blinked at the ghost fire crystal's effect... He frowned flailing it about upwards. " HOW IS THIS SUPPOSED TO HELP?!"

Gripping the hilt of his non-functional lightsaber, Braze felt a knot of tension in his chest. The large bird creatures were circling closer, their predatory eyes glinting in the semi-darkness of the jungle. He glanced at Jonyna, her lightsaber aloft, creating a halo of light around her.

Braze took a deep breath and closed his eyes momentarily. Jonyna's words echoed in his mind. Need, not want. This wasn't just a training exercise; it was a life-or-death situation. His fingers tightened around the hilt of his useless saber as he channeled his focus inward.

Opening his eyes, he extended his free hand palm-upward towards a small pile of dry leaves and twigs on the jungle floor. Drawing upon his need for fire, his need for safety, he reached out with the Force. His brow furrowed in concentration, he felt the energy coalesce in his palm, building up heat and intensity.

And then, just as his sense of need peaked, a spark leapt from his hand, catching the dry foliage alight. The sudden flare-up startled the encroaching creatures, causing them to squawk and retreat a few steps, giving Jonyna and him a momentary reprieve.

With a shaky exhale, Braze turned to Jonyna. "How's that for manifesting a need?" he quipped, although his voice betrayed the underlying tension he felt. Despite the levity, he knew this was no time to let down his guard. But for now, at least, they had bought themselves some time.

Jonyna looked to Braze Braze with a sense of pride. This hadn't been how she wanted him to learn it, but it was a lesson non-the-less.

The birds suddenly let out a squawk in unison, ringing the word 'Jedi' throughout the trees. The word was decided. The birds saw the two as friends now.

"Cave?" Jonyna asked, looking to the birds.

"Cave!" The bird in front of them spoke, nodding and leading them forward.

Jonyna let out a chuckle, "No, they're leading us to my old base. Me and Val spruced it up a while back. It's just...a bit hard to get to. Kinda on purpose."

The next 15 minutes were quite, the birds leading the two jedi through the jungle and towards a massive mountainside that shot up from the low terrain that held the jungle they had been in. Soon, a scar in the side of the mountain made itself known, a cavern at least 30 feet tall, big enough for plenty of small craft to fit through, and large enough where you could safely fly a small cruiser out of. The approach had since been cleared, allowing a small window for craft to adjust their approach. But the canopy of the jungle seemed to hide all of this, aerial spotting of the location impossible from orbit.

Braze glanced up at the towering mountainside, impressed by both its scale and the well-concealed entrance to the base. He finally broke the silence, turning his gaze to Jonyna.

"Wow, you weren't kidding when you said it was hard to get to. This place is practically invisible from orbit, isn't it? And that cavern entrance—you could stage an entire fleet here without anyone being the wiser."
He paused, clearly marveling at the setup.

"It's impressive, really. The planning, the foresight, even the difficulty in getting here—all calculated moves for maximum security, huh?"
His eyes twinkled with a mix of curiosity and admiration as they ventured closer to the cavern.

"So, what made you and Val decide to set up a base like this? And how did you manage to spruce it up?" He asked perhaps not understanding her fully about what she meant.

Jonyna frowned, letting out a sigh as they approached the entrance. Droids wired around, answering Braze Braze 's second question without Jonyna needing tp speak. The cave had quite the massive space, but in the back was a huge CIS frigate, hollowed out and turned into a small home away from home for Jonyna, now manned by what looked to be service droids, hurriedly working to restore the base back to it's former glory, and beyond.

"The Mandos. This planet is behind their lines and they don't even know it. Me and Val figured it'd be a good base of operations for the Jedi Shadows and other spies within the SIA."

Braze looked around at the bustling droids and the retrofitted CIS frigate, clearly taking in every detail. He finally turned back to Jonyna, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully.

"That's... incredibly smart. Setting up shop right under the Mandalorians' noses? And using it as a hub for the Jedi Shadows and SIA agents? You've really thought this through."

He paused, taking another surveying glance around the cavern.

"I've got to say, —turning an artifact of past conflict into something useful for the present struggle is admirable..."

Braze's eyes lingered for a moment longer on the service droids before looking back at Jonyna.

"Why are you showing me all of this? " He asked curiously.

"Because you're a clever kid. You'd find out about it eventually through your own snooping." Jonyna figured, leading them into the old frigate and into what looked to be a small kitchen. "You'd go looking for something fun to do, end up here, and spill the beans to everyone and their mom. I figured I'd get ahead of that. Make your promise you won't tell anyone." She looked down at the boy, looking deadly serious. "Anyone. Okay?"
