- + Easily Deployed: As the SD-PFC Garrison Base is intentionally small and constructed from common materials, deployment is a relatively simple process. Vessels of smaller classifications can accommodate either a full base or large portions of one, and construction can be completed within a relatively short manner of time.
. - - Overwhelmable: The small dimensions, fighting forces, and vehicular complement make for a base that can be overwhelmed in a concentrated strike. While the SD-PFC is excellent in gaining a foothold on a hostile world, it is not a menacing bastion like those utilized by the Empire of old.
During the era of the ancient, Galactic Empire, prefabricated bases were utilized in order to quickly and efficiently gain a foothold upon hostile worlds. Ever characterized by sheer power, the Empire easily mustered the manpower to erect impressive complexes in a relatively short span of time; thereby granting them an exceptional edge over their adversaries. In the modern era, Stargo Defense Enterprises has looked to the previous success of the Galactic Empire in the hopes of drawing inspiration. Stemming from the desire to afford its customers a means to gain a finite foothold in hostile environments, the corporation began drafting concepts of garrison bases inspired by the Imperial models of old.
However, unlike the nation capable of deploying immense manpower to every corner of the Galaxy, Stargo Defense Enterprises exists in a Galaxy divided by numerous governments. Each, while notable in their own right, lacks the sheer might of the Galactic Empire; and as such the corporation adjusted its design accordingly. The end result was a garrison base of vastly smaller proportions than the Imperial model that could be easily deployed and erected by even the smallest nation.
To begin, the design teams reviewed the core components of what is generally considered a garrison base. These consist of:
- Hangar
- Armory
- Barracks
- Staging Area
- Vehicle Bays
- General Storage
- Command Center
The Surface Level, which is easily the largest of the three, consists primarily of the Staging Area. Here, vehicles, personnel, and starships are mustered prior to being deployed on various operations. For ease of access, the Barracks and Armory are both positioned adjacent to Staging Area. In addition, turbolifts from Subterranean level feed directly into the Staging Area, thereby allowing deployments to occur all the more smoothly. On another note, the final structure of the Surface Level consists of the Command Center. This facility is equipped the Sensory, Communications, and Shielding equipment of the Garrison. In addition, optional Detention Cells can be incorporated at the behest of the customer.
In terms of defensive capabilities, each SD-PFC Garrison Base is equipped with a trio of armaments. The first is a Turbolaser Cannon whose role is that of anti-aircraft and anti-vehicle. Poised near the Staging Area, it's range allows it to easily cover the whole of the facility's airspace. Next, a duo of anti-personnel, Blaster Cannons are stationed at the front and rear of the Garrison. Finally, in addition to a shield generator that can cover the whole of the facility, each base is circumvented by a basic, electrified fence. On another note, the materials utilized in the construction of the Garrison are, in of themselves, a combination of reliable and durable. By and large, Durasteel and Duracrete are the materials of choice, alongside standard electronic components.
Overall, the size of the SD-PFC Garrison Base is approximately one-fourth that of a "standard", Imperial base. This means that, in addition to requiring only a fraction of the construction time, the facility can only accommodate a total of 800 personnel and 50 vehicles. Furthermore, these dimensions allow for smaller vessels to carry components of the base; thereby opening new strategic possibilities. Where once only Star Destroyers could ferry prefabricated garrisons, now the average Cruiser could accommodate one with ease. In addition, Heavy Dropships can dedicate the whole of their carrying capacity to ferrying portions of the garrison; although it is to be noted that it will require at least four loads to accomplish a single base.
