Officially produced by Santhe Corporation as a vital component for their top-line navigational computers, the SCX-9 functions exactly as advertised until it doesn't. Deep within its durasteel shell lies a micro-fusion initiator linked to a volatile plasma capacitor and fragmentation lining, capable of wreaking catastrophic damage in a confined shipboard environment.

Devised as part of a covert sabotage campaign, the SCX-9 was inspired by historical sabotage incidents such as Kueller's Senate Hall attack during the early New Republic era. When installed, the module routes power as expected, making it virtually invisible to routine diagnostics. Only a destructive teardown and specialized scanning can reveal its secondary systems, and even then, they appear integrated into legitimate regulation circuitry.

Triggering can be done remotely via an encrypted burst signal, or automatically under preset conditions. For example like a vessel reaching a specific hyperspace coordinate. Once activated, the charge produces a focused plasma burst and fragment cloud, shredding nearby systems and venting lethal force into the surrounding compartment. Acting as a power regulator in technology, such as nav computers, the device could be fit into other devices or paraphernalia requiring power distribution or energy cells. Examples of this include datapads, blasters or droids.
