    Automated Defense System

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Proactive Security
  • Completely Automated
  • Scalable - Can be installed in ships larger than freighters as well as groundside installations.
Strengths:
  • [+] Proactive Security: Blast doors with AI, biometric authentication, advanced sensors, and even automated defenses. You can't get any more secure than this, folks.
  • [+] Completely Automated: Each and every piece of equipment in this defense system is automated and controlled by an MCU augmented with a droid brain. It's smart, vigilant, and knows how to deter threats.
  • [+] (Optional) Patrols: A small complement of droids offers roaming security assets. They're perfect for fulfilling duties that require 24/7 surveillance when organic personnel sleep, eat, or get lazy.
Weaknesses:
  • [-] Eggs in one basket: The Master Control Unit is both the heart and brain of the Scutum defense system. Destroying or disabling this one device brings down every single security measure with it.
  • [-] Countermeasures: Anti-security picks, false biometric devices, and other gadgetry can get past a number of the systems listed above.
  • [-] (Optional) Predictable: As the small complement of droids are slaved to the MCU, their patrol patterns often become predictable and easier to overcome by potential intruders.
DESCRIPTION

Aegis Systems is a company that prides itself in securing a wide variety of assets, be they virtual or physical. With this in mind, they set out to produce the best internal automated defense system they could possibly muster. Introducing the Scutum Automated Defense System, the perfect pick for the cautious and security-minded.

Bearing homage to the original iteration of the automated defense system, the Scutum system is a small hivemind of security measures. A statically placed Master Control Unit, aptly augmented with a heuristic droid brain, is the sole controller of the entire defense system. Utilizing the notable characteristic of adapting on the fly and learning, the Scutum managers all of its devices with extreme efficiency.

First and foremost, the most basic security measure set in place are advanced security doors. Each of these models comes equipped with a built-in AI capable of recognizing common personnel, verifying their authenticity, and even defending themselves with a laser defense system. Backing the doors are two-factor security locks that require the respective personnel to possess both a code cylinder and produce positive biometric results prior to entry. However, these locks can be fooled by anti-security blades or more intrusive countermeasures.

To maintain constant vigilance, an advanced suite of security scanners are placed in key vantage points. Often positioned above doors or in high ceiling corners, these scanners can record A/V input in high resolution, track movement, and even detect infrared anomalies. To ensure that safety and security is in order, weapons and explosive sensors are typically installed in entryways to high-traffic areas as a checkpoint measure. If dangerous substances are detected, the defense system notifies key security personnel to deter the threat and acts accordingly on its own.

And lastly, the defense system maintains a proactive deterrence profile as well. Coma gas dispensers are strategically placed near vents, their application rendering intruders unconscious to be intercepted by security personnel. Operating in tandem are automatic laser emplacements, usually seen in the most fortified areas of a starship or installation. They receive input from the security scanners and MCU to differentiate a civilian from an active threat. Great care has been taken on Aegis Systems part to ensure that false positives are minimized and collateral is left unharmed.

As an added measure, Aegis Systems offers all customers an optional package including their Southstar-class Battle droids. This small but capable complement of droids is readily available to man perimeters, watchtowers, or patrol around their respective charges with steeled gusto. No more organic officers taking bathroom breaks, daydreaming, or simply becoming lazy and making mistakes. However, these droids are slaved to the MCU and their routines gradually become more predictable as the MCU settles into its new environment.

Summarily, the Scutum Automated Defense System is the buyer's best bet for protecting things they deem valuable. Capital ships, prisons, high-security laboratories, and military stations are a number of suitable locations for system installation.

Aegis Systems takes no responsibility for an MCU's possible sentience or false positives.
