Script For A Jester's Tear

Thyrian...
Please, please...
Help me...
Stop them, stop them!
They're taking him... Thurion stop them!
Why won't either of you listen to me?

Her mind was ablaze, lips moving soundlessly as she lay in a restless state of slumber that could not be broken. Choked murmurs, cries for help, were caught within her throat; tossing and turning, hands grasping at the durasteel ground she lay upon, nails bloody and hands bruised as she thrashed and lashed out at nothing.

She wasn't in her room, she wasn't tucked up in bed like Mysa and Thyrian, she was lost amidst the Judgement, exhaustion had found her in one of the less used hallways and it was there she had sunk into this most deprived of sleep. They had not long since begun their journey back from Voss... Everything had been going so well for the little family.

Please...
The agony finally burst from her lips, a tremor spreading through her body with the outburst. It was unintelligible, a cry of anguish that sounded more feral than human. Fate had cursed her; it had toyed at her feelings and then ripped away all she had come to envision. Tiny hands and feet...

Awaking with a start, Kära curled against the floor and clutched her abdomen. How could she tell him? How could she keep this to herself? She could not deal with the knowledge that ate away at her. She shook as grief took over, hiding her face behind her arm and clenching her hand in her hair. Still she held her stomach, still she felt protective over what should be.

She needed him in that moment, but she could not bring herself to move. She could not look him in the eye. She had failed him. She had failed them all.

Thyrian couldn't sleep. Never again, not without her beside him. Instead he remained sat on the bedside, faithfully waiting for her return. When she did not, however, his feelings fought for control to make him go find her. The rest of him did not put up much of a fight, and so he made for the door with great haste, shirtless and bootless. She was heavy with child - a concept he had not imagined he'd live to see in his wildest dreams.

He allowed his love and devotion for her to lead the way as he strode down the empty hallways of the Judgement, eyes ablaze with fire. His feet took him to an otherwise empty room, where few had reason to find themselves in. Curled up in the corner he saw her, white hair giving her away by a mere moment's glance. "Snowflake," he uttered as he rushed to her side, kneeling down beside her upon the cold, hard floor. "What are you..."

It didn't take long for him to notice the absence of a round belly, her disheveled appearance and unkempt hair leaving him confused and oddly afraid. "Kära... what have you done?"

A voice broke through her cries, the one she craved... The one she wanted to push away. He couldn't be here. He couldn't see her now. Not after all that had happened. Curling further into a ball she tried to make herself invisible. What she wouldn't do to have the focus to immerse herself in that moment.

But she couldn't.

Her mind was turbulent, her body quivering far too much.

"Please... Don't..." she whimpered as he knelt at her side; she could feel him there, practically hear the cogs of his mind whirring as he took it all in. As he came to his realization. Shying back, just out of reach, pressing herself into the corner, the woman sobbed.

She could not face him. Not now.

"I... Didn't..." she gasped between breaths, before stopping that train of thought. Was it her fault? Was there anything she could've done to prevent it? Nobody had told her the cause, nobody thought to inform her of the how or the why.

All at once she found she couldn't breathe. Both hands fell to her stomach this time, and she clutched the slight bump that remained. Nowhere near as prominent as it had been.

He had been innocent. So very innocent.

Her attempts at shying away from him only caused him to move closer to her, on his knees with his eyes the only source of light in the otherwise pitch-black room. She was utterly distraught, unable to properly speak or even breathe, and it pained him to see her this way. Taking note of her clutching her own stomach where once the beginnings of a life had resided, there was no doubt in his mind what caused her to act this way. Gently Thyrian settled his palm against her hands upon her belly, and all at once tears would appear to journey down both cheeks. There were no sounds to accompany his grief, no snivelling or cries of pain. Only quiet tears.

In spite of Kära wanting him to or not, Thyrian laid down beside his beloved, wrapping his arms around her for a warm embrace. "Hush, my sweet Snowflake," he spoke to her softly. "You don't have to say anything." His lips pressed against the back of her shoulder, placing gentle kisses upon her cold skin. She was freezing and she didn't even know it. His tears made contact with her skin as well, and where they came from many more took their place. He had once lost his mother to the dangers of childbirth. Now he had lost a son. "It's not your fault," he would proceed to tell her repeatedly with broken voice as sorrow began to settle in and take over.

"It's not your fault..."

She had always held such a tight rein on her emotions.

Now that they were spilling out so uncontrollably, so inconsolably, it felt as if the whole Galaxy had buckled. Yet it was freeing, also; like the first time she had confessed her love to Thyrian, it made her feel alive. Only this time it was not a positive sensation. She had deprived herself of all that she could, all of her basic desires and feelings, harnessing anything she felt solely to channel her powers.

They had never been truly felt. Simply suppressed.

And now there was no running.

She felt him touch her and this time she did not shun his presence. Instead she allowed herself to become enveloped into his warmth, her eyes closing and her breathing light as she listened to naught save his heartbeat for a while. He was crying too, she could tell. His kisses soothed, but they also jarred a little in her mind. She might have moved, but she realized in that moment that she needed him.

No words were said by her as he whispered with a broken tone. Instead she eased herself back against him and closed her eyes. Her more prominent cries were replaced by silent tears and the occasional whimper. For the most part, however, peace returned. Her hand lifted to settle against the arm which was wrapped around her, and she drew from him what little strength she could while also supplying him with what she could manage.

This was his loss as much as hers.

As she rested in his arms, Thyrian found himself regaining his strength as he happened upon a mindset that would forever be set in stone. He had already lost one mother, but never would he risk losing Kära to the same devices. Not again. She was in pain, both physical and emotional, and he would be there for her no matter how long her recovery would take. This he silently swore to every deity in the galaxy, to whoever listened.

"Come on, Snowflake. Let's get you to bed." He got up on his feet only to pick her off the floor and into his arms, carrying her out of the dark room. As they entered the brightly lit corridor leading to their chambers, he made sure to block her sight so that her sensitive eyes might readjust in due time. "Almost there," he comforted her as they neared the door he'd left open upon exiting in search of his beloved.

Laying her down in their bed, he sat by her side as a hand gently caressed her soft cheek where there was no longer a horrid scar. "We will get through this, Kära. We have gotten this far, just the two of us. Together we can overcome anything." Leaning down Thyrian settled his lips to hers. "I love you, my little one."
