Scoria Rayne, commonly referred to as Mrs Rayne, is an academic, socialite and archaeologist that is known to operate throughout the Galaxy.

Little is known of Scoria's youth, save that she was raised in a family of means somewhere in the Core Worlds. Following an excellent and varied education, she specialised in the archaeological fields, holding degrees in Xenoarchaeology and Galactic History. Following her time in higher education, she married Arcturus Rayne, a prominent businessman that was several years her senior. Scoria stayed in academia, lecturing across several institutions whilst working at various excavations and digs. During this period, she authored and co-authored many academic works.

Several years later, her husband passed in a tragic spaceship accident. A brief scandal erupted when it was discovered that Arcturus had willed his estate to Scoria entirely, rather than his children from his earlier marriage. Subsequent legal measures would take a majority of the estate away from her, leaving her with the home and a small trust to support her work, rather than the riches she might've expected.

Since that time, Mrs Rayne has continued her academic pursuits, choosing sites in the far-flung edges of the Galaxy to try and find new discoveries. When she isn't in the depths of an Outer Rim Temple Moon or Burial Ground, she can be found in the midst of high society. Laughing, joking and flirting with so many different people, Mrs Rayne is a well-known fixture at the tippity-top of polite Galactic society.

Most reports state that Mrs Rayne possesses a warm, charming and diplomatic demeanour which helps ingratiate her with different parts of society. Her continued efforts in the study of archaeology and personal involvement in research show an incredibly determined attitude and no small amount of competence, perhaps to the extent of foolhardiness. Some unsubstantiated reports suggest that Mrs Rayne possesses a harder, nastier side, particularly to those who hold no use for her. Rumours of vicious barbs and vindictive actions float around her presence, though nothing has ever been confirmed. Mrs Rayne categorically denies all such allegations and suggests that such scurrilous gossip comes from jealous professional rivals and bitter ex-lovers.
